I think you are using the term feminist in the wrong way, Jesus was not a feminist he loves all ppl but he never once said anything about women vs man he treated everyone the same thats not feminism thats Christian

Hi Christianfeminist.

Firstly , Jesus was amazing

He loved both men and women, and showed compassion beyond the diktats of society.

I am glad you see that aspect of Him, as He is awesome.


However most people on these forums, don't have such a broad viewpoint to see feminism as just equality between men and women.


Many of them associate feminism with a lot of negative connotations, such as destroying the roles of husband and wife, specified in the Bible etc.

While the early wave of feminism did look towards empowering women, the current feminism or radical feminism especially that which is originated from the West is downright ridiculous.

We still need to do so much for women, especially in countries like Afghanistan etc, where women aren't even allowed to be educated.

To bring them Jesus, and to find freedom in Him, IS empowering!!

I am glad as Christian woman, you find that strength in Jesus.

However Jesus is beyond labels He's a friend of women and women are warriors of God.

But to put him as a feminist , may cause some of the people here to get really upset. I hope you understand that. Anyway.

If the equality of all sexes you are referencing is not in line with the Scriptures, it must be rejected. The Holy Bible is the final authority on all things. When we choose to supercede this authority, we exalt our opinions above God.

It might seem very easy to slam someone and congratulate yourself on that, but just ask yourself what spirit are you doing it in?

If you are against her post, then maybe address what is wrong with it, instead of attacking her personally.

Really, as a Christian, you don't have to be nasty to someone.

He is the creator and lover of all but I do have to admit the bible often times holds men in higher regards to women and Honestly we cant just ignore that because it goes against our beliefs.

I am a feminist because I believ in equal rights but the word of God is the word of God, maybe we should take a deeper look into the bible for this because while I would like to continue to believe in equal rights I simply cannot just ignore the bible just because I dont like it

maybe this is just the ridiculous feminism here in the west, but feminism, in and of itself, is not about
men and women being equal, and is not looking out for the rights of all people.

that would be human rights...and i'm all for it.

No, a feminist is a person who addresses women's rights - or more accurately - the lack of women's rights. Sometimes, feminism refers to social stigmas as well.

If feminism refers to equality of all sexes, then why do we NEVER refer to issues men face as feminist issues? That's because feminism is only concerned with one sex. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Feminism is supposed to refer to people who are concerned particularly, but not necessarily exclusively, with women's issues. It's possible to be a feminist and to support men's rights as well - but that doesn't mean feminism is about supporting men's rights.

Ultimately, feminism is just a word so it can really mean whatever we want it to mean. But I believe we should still focus on what it should refer to since there's so much confusion around the word anymore.

Yeah Ellie, I realized that in the west, feminism has a whole different ideology than the one I am used to.


For women like me in the east, where women are really suppressed and just downright looked down on, feminism means equality between men and women.

Not elevation.

However when I did visit the USA, I had a lot of culture shock with regards to how women were there.

So there is this discrepancy between people on how they view it.


I just wish we extend compassion to this young lady because at the end of the day, we're a family of God. To tear into her, because of a definition we all don't agree on is unChristlike.

That's essentially referring to what I said. It's an advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of sexual equality. But it is not the advocacy of men's rights on the grounds of sexual equality. That's why I take issue with people who claim feminism fights for equality of all sexes. It only fights for equality of women to men, not the other way around.

Of course, that's not to say a feminist can't support men's rights as well!
