Hi everyone,
This explanation of Mark 13:32 is something i wanted to share with you. So it is not my intention to start a discussion but maybe that is okay every once in a while even if this is called 'Bible Discussion Forum'. I just wanted to shine a little light on the verse and to urge you to get ready for the day the Lord will be coming back.
Mark 13:32 ‘About the Second Coming of the Lord’
“But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.”
The date and time of the Second Coming is not known to the Son. No one knows when He will return, only the Father.
This refers to a Jewish wedding tradition: it was the custom that a man would visit the father of the woman he wanted to marry to ask the father permission to marry his daughter. If the father gave his consent, the man would leave, go to his home and was not allowed to speak or see the woman until their wedding day.
But before they could marry, he first had to find or build a home for them where they could live together after the wedding day. So the man went looking for a good home or a nice place and had the house built or fixed and made sure that it would be the best possible home for him and his future wife.
However, it was not up to him to decide when the house was ready. He had to wait until he received his father’s approval of the house. His father would be overlooking the work, checking if everything was in order and whether the house was good enough for his son and the bride-to-be. The son had to keep continuing to build, repair, improve and decorate the house until the father would give his approval. The wedding would be held when the father would give his approval for the house.
This means that neither the man nor the woman would know exactly the date or time of upcoming wedding day. Only the father of the bridegroom knew. So as soon as the woman knew that her father had giving his approval to the man in order to marry her, his daughter, she had to start making preparations (with the help of her family and female friends) for the wedding day. Everything had to be ready as soon as the father of the bridegroom would give his approval on the house that the man was working on.
It is like this also with the Second Coming. Jesus tells us (John 14: 2-3): “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto my-self; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
The Lord Jesus, the bridegroom of the Church went to work to prepare a place for His bride (the people who believe in Him and know Him as their Saviour), to create a home where He could live together with her forever. He will continue to work on the house to make it even more beautiful until the moment comes that His Father will tell Him that it is ready. The Son does not know when the Second Coming will be, but He and the house will be ready, because the Father will give His approval only if they are both ready.
The bride (the children of the Lord) will also need to be ready. The entire Church, but also ever single child individually. The Groom is already gone to work on the house. How much time will He need?
Nów is the time to make sure that you are ready! You have to be ready to celebrate when the Bridegroom will come to take you to the wedding. Are you ready? Have you said goodbye to the things of this life, of your past? Your old life? Are you able to let go of everything that will hold you back when the Bridegroom takes your hand and wants to bring you to the house He prepared for you?
Jesus is full of desire to be re-united with His Bride. Would the Wedding be today? Hurry! Get ready; it is a beautiful day!
Are you also longing for that wedding day? If you are, and if you are ready and eagerly awaiting the moment you will see your Bridegroom arriving, then it will truly be the best day of your life!

Every day i somehow get so focused on the things on earth, on the people i love, on the problems i have to face and on everything that needs to be planned and done and organised and.... All these things keep me tied to the earth and to earthly goods when i should be tied to the Lord and Heavenly goods. I should be getting ready, no, i have to be ready nów because today could be the day the Lord comes back.
I know that my english is not very well if it comes to frases and words used in describing things about believing, the Bible, the Lord etcetera. So i might be saying things that seem a bit off or that have a very different meaning than the one i think it has. So if you read something that does not sounds right of that is written uncorrectly, please let me know.
