The other day I was with rallies and someone began to read an article about a fella who was responsible for killing many many people. Apparently he has now given his life to God and become a christian. Now the response from people around was like-
"He is a gonner"
"He just turned to God as an excuse to asuage his guilt"
Well.. i thought to myself-- HANG ON..
If he was genuine about entrusting his salvation with Jesus.. then he is forgiven- of ALL that.
Think about this-- someone who is given that much mercy and grace and realises the depth of it.. would love greatly
They would likely understand the saving power of the Holy Spirit.. of God because they know how much they have been set free from.
This kind of thing could lead to someone falling on the knees and weeping before God at the depth of His mercy and grace.
So-- yes if he didn't really mean it when he turned to Jesus. and was just trying to clear his conscience somehow.. then probably not forgiven.. but if he genuinely wanted forgiveness..
Jesus has the power
