I have my own opinions but with elections soon happening in the US how do you vote according to the Bible. Not whcih party do you vote but how do your biblical beliefs play into how you vote? Its amazing to me that I see people who I believe and truly Christians but dont seem to know the issues or care to find out and then blindly choose a candidate. So any thoughts on this? Thanks

First off (and I will get into trouble on this) the law has been forsaken by the church for the most part because it cannot save. With this forsaking, the church becomes totally ignorant as to what is the right ballot to cast for they know not what to watch for concerning a country that was founded on self governing principles. On top of that, most voters don't vote with a moral attitude of self denial, but vote according to what sounds best concerning their viewpoint on worldly issues and how they can benefit. The church (for the most part) has been deceived with the lie that says "separation of church and state" which is not constitutional according to the 1st amendment. I see much liberalism in the professing Christian realm today. Whether we know it or not this liberalism is based on philosophies of Constantine, *Laodiceanism, Communism and Nazism.

Revelation 3:14-18
14 And unto the angel of the church of the *Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Christians are called to love God and their neighbor, in a nutshell.
Our voting system allows us to love God and serve our neighbor to a certain extent.

By voting we can promote laws, standards, and people which are closest to God's will.
Doing such is a form of loving God and neighbor.

Of course we will never achieve laws, standards, and people that fit God's will 100%.
So we need to look at this in terms of percentages/amounts/degrees/levels.

It's better to have things done 80% right than 30% right.
You get the idea.

Even if we can only achieve things that are done 70% God's way, that's better than 30% God's way.

I've noticed that too, some people will take the time to vote, but not take the time to research what the most moral candidate is for the job. They also rarely research the issues before voting. Being naive is considerably dangerous when you're getting ready to elect others that will be running your life from the public sector.

I usually like checking out surveys before voting, especially surveys from both sides to make sure your politician isn't waffling on an issue.

For example: In one case one of my politicians responded to a Pro-Life survey saying they were Pro-Life, but then responded to a Planned Parenthood Survey stating they were Pro-Choice. The obvious conclusion here is: They LIE. So it's probably best to vote for someone else who has the guts to actually stand on what they claim. Voting record is also an important thing to look over when re-electing officials.

Some good surveys I know of:
* Where Do Your Candidates Stand? - Campaign for Liberty
* Family Policy Council (search for your state plus this term, they have chapters across USA)
* National Pro-Life Alliance surveys (same as above)

Some bad surveys worth checking:
* Planned Parenthood Pro-Choice Surveys
* American Democratic Action Voting Guides

Open States: discover politics in your state - Open States

Also remember, sometimes the lesser of two evils can be worse in the long-run. If there's no vote between the two parties, choose an alternate party or no party at all. I wouldn't want to be responsible for voting in baby killers and so-forth. :p

Speaking of which... looking at you Mitt Romney... D:

We went to vote early as most years. I like it when the formate is to have a photo ID and a drivers license. Where I vote, it is mandatory. The administration wants voter ID abolished. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know why. Corruption to the max. It is all politics these days more than any other time in history.

Not very surprising really. There are all kinds of people with all kinds of interests and focuses. Some people are very into politics while others give it as little attention as possible. Personally i've never had a big interest in politics. I often hear from people 'i can't believe more people aren't concerned/interested in X issue (insert whatever it is that's important to them)'.

I keep pretty informed BUT we vote here in Ca. on an issue and the State Supreme Court proclaims it unconstitutional.
So yes, I go through the motions hoping to slow the slide...usually in vain.

And people in California hear who is the next President BEFORE their votes are even counted. All because of electoral votes. It makes Californians feel like "why bother?" This does not encourage voting.

while Moses was up on the mountain engaged in monarchy, the children of Israel were down in the valley engaged in democracy.
Moses came down with righteous law and the people made a golden calf for themselves.

democratic rule is based on the premise "vox populi, vox dei" (the voice of the people is the voice of god)
this is a false tautology. just something to keep in mind. the King of Kings isn't "elected" - but He elects us.

that's not to say i don't vote. the scriptures clearly encourage us toward peace and to take care of the poor & disenfranchised among us. i usually vote for who i think will be least likely to start a war with another country, and who will do the best job of caring for the poor. i won't vote for anyone i know to be a liar either, and i'm deeply offended by those that pretend to be 'the party of christianity' and then give gifts to the rich and spread hatred for brothers and neighbors. so more often than not i'm writing in some 3rd party candidate.

Doesn't seem any candidates for any position are so great but you have to know particular things, like what is their view on Israel and the Jewish people. I could never vote for somebody who would not defend Israel. As one person said getting 70% God's way is better than not at all.

to be fair defending israel is not exactly a major thing, but I go with the politicians I agree with on issues. Im not looking to elect a new pastor or religious leader so their personal faith doesnt always factor into it

A couple of thoughts....

1. I have heard believers say...I will vote for the lesser of the two evils...why vote for any evil?
2. Obviously our vote, if made, should for biblical principles regardless of what political affiliation we are sold to.
3. Why partake of the system...no command to vote and evil men and seducers will wax worse and worse...the world will go the way it is destined to go.....

Just a thought or three HAH!

Invariably I find the ones with I agree on their stance on most the issues are also Israel friendly.

In truth when you "vote" you are signing consent over to a board of elected trustees! You are giving them permission to "represent" you with access to the collective accounts of the people. That is why the "privilege" of voting can be taken away. This is not love for God but another man made system of control.

I agree that we SHOULD have a republic, but that's not the case now. Government used to derive their power from the CONSENT of the governed, but not today.

i think the importance of protecting modern-day israel is far overstated than necessary.
