I just wanted to say that yesterday I asked God for proof that he is finally coming for us, and then while in the car a saw a sign of a church and do you know what it said? Jesus is coming ready or not. I felt this was something that needed to be posted because I think this isnt just for me I think there is someone out there who was looking for a sign like me and well here you go whoever you are :)

I just take him at his word...He said he is coming and I believe him....!

Not that I am hammering what you perceive as a sign unto you as that is between you and your God...

Jesus did have a few things to say about those who seek a sign or signs...He also said.....When you all shall see these things begin to come to pass then to look up, for then shall we see the sign of the coming of the Son of Man.......!

:) AGAIN...this is not to hammer the OP....or anyone who believes this is a sign so please don't read in what is not there...!

The sign is in His word dude, and He keeps His word :) If you need reassurance (as we all do from time to time) fall back on His word.

Blain there are signs everywhere that Jesus is going to return soon it was nice of God to spell it out for you on a real sign though how very nice and thoughtful of Him. We just need to be ready everyday as if it is our very last and to share with others the same news that Jesus is soon to return and time to get ready because He is coming - Ready or Not.

A couple points to ponder...

1. I agree that when Jesus was limited by his flesh that he did not know the hour of his return.
2. We can know the signs that surround his coming as Paul to the church at Thessalonica that they WERE NOT IN DARKNESS THAT THAT DAY SHOULD OVER TAKE THEM AS A THIEF<---context was the parousia of Jesus and our gathering together unto him.
3. I personally believe that Jesus as God on throne in heaven (probably) knows the time of his return now....<--No proof...just my view.....

I see the verse that Jesus Himself does not know me a lot. But I think that there are enough signs to warn us to lift our heads and start to expect Jesus. (I believe His coming is very close) When we read the bible we see the birth-pains around us what Jesus warned us for. To know the signs or not....it did remind me of this verse:

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. 7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 1 Thess 5:3-7

Paul also said that before the parousia (body presence) of Christ, that is to say our gathering together unto him that two things must take place first...

1. The Man of sin be revealed the son of perdition
2. The complete apostasy (apo-hystamie) of humanity

2nd Thessalonians 2:1-6 or so....

The last verse, but one, of the Bible states (Rev 22v20):

"He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!"

So, there you have it from The Master's Own lips! :p

IMHO, the only sign that we will have is his appearance in the clouds. We have many warnings, and he could appear anytime between our next heartbeat and thousands of years from now. The only thing that I know for sure is that when he does come, I am ready, I pray that you are too.

Bible signs are positioned to FOLLOW rather than foresee. Signs from God are more like a final score that actually occurs in advance notice than basis of prediction for the FINALS scores based on past performance. Signs revealed by the Lord can't be annulled by the "future" events, which is the basis of true prophesy. Rather than look for and accept any sign to the exclusion of already revealed truths, I rely on what is already written.

How can you be "ready" for something like that...we have to sleep don't we?

The physical illustration of the parable of the fig tree was written in Mark 11:13-14 & Matthew 21:19. This was when Jesus cursed the fig tree (Israel) and it withered away. The unfruitful fig tree symbolized the outcome of Israel's unresponsiveness to the word of God. Israel was destroyed (withered away) in 70AD and her people were scattered among all nations.

Jesus explained the parable in Matthew 24:32, Mark 13:28, & Luke 13:6. He said; "Learn the parable of the fig tree". In Mark 13, Christ was explaining the signs of his second coming, and the fig tree in verse 28 is a metaphor representing Israel. The prohecy is that the generation of people who witnessed Israel shoot forth her leaves will be the generation who will see the second coming of Christ (Mark 13:30). The bursting forth of leaves represents the beginning of Israel's statehood in 1948. This was a sign no one saw for 1878 years, but now we are living in the generation of the fig tree.
