My thoughts on social media:

Social media is extremely valuable in today's world...

if you have an old friend from High School you haven't talked to in years,
and you suddenly have an overwhelming urge to know everything about his cat.

: )

There is deception everywhere you look, on TV, Social Network, Social media. And its been here since the dawn of technology. But even in biblical times, deception was there in the masses. People will want to deceive to gain for there gratification thing. and it will continue till the day Jesus comes back.

Today's world of deception has just stepped up a mark and people are falling into the trap each and every day. But the thing is, the question you want to ask is who is behind it all. well you don't even have to look far. The enemy is the father of deception. and we people fall for it all the time.

I think used in the correct way social media can be a wonderful resource. There's plenty of garbage on it too, obviously. But in most cases if you wisely choose your friends you can weed most of that out. Sadly, I have many acquaintances on my social media pages that were friends before being Born Again, and they post a lot of that garbage. Normally though, I hide the post the first time and then delete the person if it continues.

So a useful resource, but can be full of garbage too.

@Pyshochomom No I haven't! why?
oh, it's just a silly show the kids used to like in which a detective with OCD issues solves crimes.

that was his catch phrase.
but it applies to social media, i think.
it can be good...and it can be bad.

i had to retire from FB...23 'friends' were too many for my tiny brain to keep track of...
and they were mostly family! lol

but, you know...ppl tend to put on a persona on sites like FB.
it's like, you spend two hours getting the kids ready to go to the park,
and they're whining all the way there and you and your spouse are sniping at one another,
and the whole day is one big debacle, but at the end of it you hand your phone to a stranger
and they snap a pic of your family smiling and when you get home you post it with the caption

great day with the family at the park!

which leaves your 'friends' (if they're honest) feeling somehow...less than, if you know what i mean?

Of course it is a great and useful source of information, that's why information is money to Governments, and internet spies. Look of Facebook for one thing, its a haven for information. yes people think they are on a good thing catching up on there frends they not spoken to for years and so on. but the information are collected for other gains without your knowing.

People like to talk, people will slip up and give out the information that the wrong people want to hear, then its collected, then guess what? your information is used for fraud, or to sell to private government, not forgetting the cold callers, how else are they getting your information about you to call you? Why does internet sites always never delete your information when you decided to leave the site? or they deactivate your accounts? You request them to fully delete everything from there site, but how many websites do you know that actually does? so you can see how much deception in the world today.

You can use websites, social networks or media's as safe as you think, But is it? The word privacy don't mean a thing no more on the internet. as today's internet has got rid of it. sop they deceive you into thinking you are safe, when they even CC is gathering information. Not saying that CC will sell the information but im sure you can see were I am coming from.

Security software is another. they all make you feel that its safe to use. and that they have spent millions on improving there security, down the line, you will hear on the news, that they or someone has breached the security and leaked out your information. they always blame hackers, yes a lot of hackers are at to blame, but not all. So as you see deception is everywhere you look.

Is a place aimed at socialization, keeping in contact with friends and family and maybe meeting new people a deception? Question makes no sense. Might help if you explained what about it causes you to think it may be a deception.

There are many things in our world that were intended to be a blessing and resource but they get used as well by the wrong sources. Like VCRs. Wonderful for having a movie and being able to watch it, but then porn went on tapes too. Social media is a great way to keep in touch, but the bullying and gossip is the other side of the coin.

Are you sure? One who is deceived doesn't know he is deceived, else he would not be deceived.

One does not know what he does not know.

Who knows? I trust the 60+ years of constantly reading the bible from end to end. If I am deceived, that is the Holy Spirit's problem. I trust Him to lead me into truth. My part is just to stay in the bible.
