I think one of the reasons we single it out the most i because it's a sin that most people who possess it are actually proud of. Also, since in most cases it's a lifestyle instead of a singular act, the person begins to identify themselves as their sin (example, introducing themselves saying I AM gay, not I commit acts of homosexuality). How many people do you know of cry out for equal rights for thieves, or liars, or murderers, or adulterers, rapists, alcoholics, or proud, arrogant people? How many people shake your hand and tell you Hi, I'm Joe, and I'm an adulterer! I think since acts of sexual perversion are so personal, so deep, and taint such a wonderful gift God gave us, it's one that Satan really focuses on. I mean, most sins hurt other people (killing, lying, stealing, etc) wheras a sexual sin is sort of hurting yourself.
Homosexuality is wrong, plain and simple, but so is telling "little white lies", indulging in too many junk foods, and obessing over your favorite movie star or music idol. I think homosexuals do deserve equal treatment, because they are just like each and every single one of us who sin. They need to know what they are doing isn't something they are born with, it's an urge they choose to accept and partake in, but they need to know they are loved, and supported, and cared for just like anybody else.
DIE HOMO DIE isn't going to get you the same response as hugging someone you know is gay and telling them, look, I love you, God loves you, let's sit down and talk about where things went wrong and how we can work on fixing them.
