I know we have lots of people at all different points in their walk with Christ.

So many people have it all backwards in they try to burden babes and new believers with work that God intended THEM to do.

Too often I see hypocrites who demand others to follow what God has told them to do, to help others, to give to the poor, to visit the sick, to do all these good works which are good but I truly believe that God has for each of us a different task and we can not tell others what they should and should not being doing in terms of good works.

God gave us unique gifts and He does not expect us to be everything to everybody.

He gave us unique bodies and He does not expect us to eat the same diet as others.

Often I read the Bible and I see how some people were chosen to be set aside and only eat certain things like Samson or John the Baptist. However, Jesus was not on the same diet. He ate fish and drank wine, while John only at locust and honey and things found in the wild.

Where am I going with all this?

Mainly that God's path is different for each of us. We have some things in common: same Spirit, same salvation. However we are all different parts of the same body. in that we are different, we are taught different things about our task on earth and given different skills. Yet we have the same purpose: to do good works that glorify God's name.

So I thought if we move beyond Faith, beyond the understanding that we are saved through the blood of Christ and redeemed from our sins. If we truly believe ourselves the children of God, how do we go about adding to our faith?

What does Peter mean when he says "
[h=3][/h][SUP]5 [/SUP]But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, [SUP]6 [/SUP]to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, [SUP]7 [/SUP]to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. [SUP]8 [/SUP]For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 1

What is virtue?

How do we gain knowledge?

What kind of knowledge are we seeking?

Why do we need self control and why does that lead to perseverance?

How are godliness, brotherly kindness and love related?

How do we display and bear the Fruits of the Spirit?

Just something I've been meditating on for a while. What are your thoughts?
How would you explain it to a new believer? Or a young child who is just learning about God and His ways?

here's a way you could explain it to a child

To truly grow in CHRIST one must first be willing then study study study and study some more, pray continously seek GOD in all things and apply what you obtain. Growth will come. One must deny the flesh, allow GOD to place them on the Potter's wheel to be pruned and it is wise to have a good church where they can use their gifts thus this does not trap one within a building and surround self with those who truly know GOD how does one know by their Fruit.. Spirit recognizes spirit

Blessings!!!!!!!

it's kind of like if you're going to the grocery store and someone says Remember the milk... or, Don't forget the milk... I think it's the same way, when you go to the store, or anytime, Remember God!... or, Don't forget God!...

I have been laid off for over a year now and I have enjoyed resting in the Lord and I have learned to listen to Him during this year and allowing Him to prompt me to do things and we have had a good time off. I consider myself retired now but if He wanted me to go back to work I would try and listen to Him as to what that work would be.

So far it has been to share right here on CC and encourage and have fun making new friends around the world.

I do believe that God has planted us where He wants us and that our special talents can be used for Him with the people we know and come into contact with. I certainly have enjoyed the time being able to read and pray with people and to grow with God. He has helped me and is helping me with issues that have needed to be taken care of and we are working on them together. I just want to keep listening to Him and obeying so that when that call to work for Him comes I will be ready to go.

"All" scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Timothy 3:16

We study the word and apply it in our lives...

Be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of the mind as a living sacrifice.........Romans 12:1-2

Here's one of my favorite explanations from Jesus how we receive His Holy Spirit into us and grow us complete into the Kingdom of God :)

(Mat 13:33)
Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.

!

Hi! I'll try,

(Joh 7:38)
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
(Joh 7:39)
(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
(Act 2:4)
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

(Rom 8:9)
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

(Rom 8:11)
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

(1Jn 4:2)
Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:

(1Jn 5:6)
This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

(Col 1:27)
To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Amen!

You do realize that those links goes to the whole page and not a single post?

So why don't you clearly state what it is you don't like?

Yes all scripture should be studied and understood.

However, just because someone does not agree with you or refuse to bow down to you as their "elder" does not mean that you should jump to the conclusion that YOU are right or that you are truly speaking through the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

Eliphaz and his two friends thought that they were speaking for God to Job, but God corrected them through the words of Elihu and by appearing to them all after his youthful heartfelt prayers.

It would be good to note that God did not appear until after Elihu spoke, until there were TWO standing in faith and prayer to God.

I see that those who teach people to Old covenant Mosaic laws reflecting the words of Job's friends alot, quoting Job's friends as if they spoke for God when in truth they had it WRONG.

So clearly state which post you are referring to and why you believe it was given in a "spirit" that would not search the truth in scripture?

Do you refuse to search your own heart and long cherished beliefs about the Old covenant Mosaic laws to see if they are truly in lined with God's Holy Words?

Or do you demand of others what you refuse to do with your own thoughts and beliefs?

U know this song step by step u lead me
n I will follow u all of my days!!!

Anyways thought this last poem written by ravenhill encourages for us to mature more in Christ

Torch My Heart :
Lord engage my heart today
With zeal that will not pass away.
Now torch it with Thy holy fire
That never more shall time's desire
Invade or quench the Heaven born power.
I would be trapped within Thy Holy will,
Thine every holy purpose to fulfill
That every effort of my life shall bring
Rapturous praise to my Eternal King.
I pledge from this day the grave
To be Thine own unquestioning slave

Bless u sis

i've found the rhythm of the Christian life is death and resurrection...
till we go Home.

just like the children of Israel, we get into a jam and cry out to God for help,
and he delivers us and we're good for a while...

over and over, death (to ourselves) and resurrection to Him and His will.
thank God!
