Okay so what would you say if you were before Jesus right at the gates of heaven and he asked you why should I let you into heaven? I will tell you what I would say- I would kneel before him not even able to look down and say Lord, I do not deserve to go to heaven nor do I deserve you. I have sinned much in my life and am unworthy to be called your son and I am not fit to even stand before you here and now. But I have longed for you and sought after you exhaustively and have craved to be right where I am here before you, I have nothing good to offer you for I am poor. I don't have great riches I don't have anything that is worthy to give you except this one thing- my Heart. It is a filthy unclean heart, it is damaged and spotted with sin but it is the greatest thing I have to give you. with that being said Lord the only reason I would be able to come into your kingdom is because of your vast love mercy grace and what you did for me on the cross.

This is what I would say, I can see this play out in my mind in fact that is kind of why I made this thread because I saw it but I can't get past this point. I can see everything but I cannot see what his response is or if this is the answer that pleases him. I wrote this from my heart and I truly want this to be an answer that greatly pleases him.
But anyways what would you say?

I would probably say something along the lines of what you wrote here. I know I'm saved, but some days I'm not so sure I'm going to heaven, or even belong there. I think we all have moments when we question whether we will actually make it there or not. I'm pretty sure your answer will make him greatly pleased. :)

Lord I am truly unworthy to be here and am a sinner worthy of death, it is only Your love that has gotten me this far and if You will have me I would be most grateful to live with You forever. Only by Your blood and Your grace and Your love as there is nothing in me worthy to be here.

Because I have faithfully believed your oath and promise to me when you swore that you would be with me even unto the ends of forever and would never leave nor forsake me my dear Jesus O how I have desired you!

I would say to God. You are to decided rightly. and that I don't deserve to enter heaven. But I believed in what Jesus said in Acts 16:31. " Believe in the lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be saved. I may have sinned, but I never doubt in Jesus. that's what I would say. Whether I enter heaven or not. At least I would of told God that I believe in Jesus.

I would honestly burst out crying to see him. Then i would fall down at his feet, i don't see how we could stand. Then i would tell him i am not worthy, only by his grace could i enter in.Even though i believe in him completely, when he says well done.!!!

I would say

Because you are my Savior
whose revelation through your apostles I believe
by the gift of faith from your Holy Spirit,
that my sins have been forgiven and
our Father has acquitted my guilt and
has given me the gift of right standing before him
because of faith in you,
who died to pay for my sin, my Savior and my God.

Why should I let you into heaven? I would say Lord, because the price for my sin was paid by Jesus. The blood of the Lamb and the testimony of His saving grace. Nothing of me and all of Thee. Thank You Jesus!!!!

i wonder if, in the middle of my feeble explanations, my King might say,

come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world...

Blain, I couldn't express myself any better than what you yourself said. I would fall at His feet declaring the very same, weeping for past sins. I would be praising and worshipping for the forgiveness granted to me.

I am pretty sure that when one stands before the ALMIGHTY GOD that created the entire universe and is all knowing, all powerful and infinite...

Psa 147:5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

that he will be speechless.

there is nothing commendable in me but that i believe God sent His Son to be crucified, raised Him again the third day and gave all judgement to Him, to atone for my sin. this mercy is the only thing i got going for me.

i don't think "i was water baptized" is the correct response, btw :)

If you, LORD, kept a record of sins,
Lord, who could stand?

I take your question as purely hypothetical, and a commonly expressed notion that someone is guarding the gate to heaven. We see this all the time in comic strips, and it's sometimes very funny, (and I like the humor), yet a wrong idea.

For the believer, Jesus is not standing at the gate with His arms crossed saying, "OK wise guy, why should I let you in here?" After having gone to the cross, He is standing with open arms, for the "joy set before Him", "bringing many sons to glory". For God's desire from His love was "not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance". We don't enter heaven because we are worthy. We enter because the price has been paid and we have changed our mind (repentance) about Christ and believed in Him. The gate is wide open to all, the Savior is waiting with open arms. We who have believed are in the family forever; when we die, it's a home coming.

"For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus" Gal 3:26

"And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me," says the Lord Almighty. 2Cor 6:18

See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are. 1Jn 3:1

Agreed, we don't need to justify ourselves because He already has. Such a question implies we must make a case when Jesus is our High Priest already interceding on our behalf, able to save us completely. :D

This. I was going to reply saying, I just really cant answer that question because its so far removed from who God is, even in a hypothetical sense. I really don't think it should asked, not that I think Blain has any ill motive behind it or anything..i cant really express what I'm feeling when I think about this question, sorry...:(

I would say, "Look, look God - your name is on my forehead." "Your seal is upon me!"
