I Recently Got into a debate with a fellow member on here on Halloween being evil and I wanted to see scriptural proof that Halloween is evil not someones opinion. In my onion it can be evil if celebrated by making blood sacrifices or skinning cats and such but Halloween is about kids dressing up and getting free candy right? I mean sure it can be evil if we make it evil but the same could be said about any other day as well.

Of course looking from the other point of view there a lot of decorations of Ghosts demons and the devil and the Hallow in Halloween means holy and I suppose if the enemy wanted to make a mockery of the word holy this is one way to do it. But still it seems to me like its something that you can choose to make evil or not

Blain, let me ask you a question. Do you think the golden calve Israel made at Mount Sinai was evil? Remember they did name it YHWH Elohim. So clearly they had only good intentions with the calve when they made it. God does not accept our idol worshipping and that is mixing the seed.

My friend we cannot be part of pagan traditions and hang a Christian board around it. There is only two ways, right and wrong and if it is not right its wrong. This is a day full of witchcraft and there is nothing good about it.

Scripture says to avoid having any appearance of evil. We are to focus on that which is good.

Do you watch horror movies?

Full of witch craft? I have been alive for a while and never seen this witchcraft where did you see this?
btw I don't personally celebrate it as I cannot go out and trick or treat because I am to old but I have no problem with others celebrating it so long as its merely trick or treating

yes I watch horror movies occasionally but nothing hardly scares me. However I will be spending my Halloween either on cc or spending time with God.

There is no Scripture that endorses taking a pagan-originated holiday and "redeeming" it for God.

There are numerous Scriptures saying to have NOTHING to do with pagan-originated holidays.

I'll be spending my night at church playing games and having chili while my house is dark and empty.

Redeeming for God? i don't think any Christian who celebrates it is trying to redeem it for God, but they can however decide how they will celebrate it and I choose to be with God while handing out candy for the kids.
But please do show the scripture that speaks on how to not celebrate halloween I have searched but could not find it regarding Halloween itself or Christmas for that matter just lots of people using scripture that sort of fits the bill but not really

Blain, What a weak argument.

Are you telling me that you don’t believe Tweebuffelsmeteenskootmorsdoodgeskietfontein is a town in South Africa because you have never heard the name or seen the town yourself? I have never seen New York but I do believe it is somewhere in America.

Just because Satanists are not advertising what they are doing on this day does not make it less real.

You cannot serve two gods or you cannot celebrate pagan traditions and hang a Christian board around it.

How to avoid being called a heathen and a satanist:

1.) Don't celebrate Christmas.
2.) Dont celebrate Easter.
3.)Don't celebrate Valentine's Day.
4.) Don't celebrate Halloween.
5.) Dont celebrate Thanksgiving.

Oh and lets not celebrate Labor Day, Veterans Day, Patriots Day or any of those holidays that are on our calendars either!! One could argue that THOSE days have paganistic origins.. #sarcasm

I don't really care if my supposed argument is weak my point here is that if it really is evil I need actual evidence not peoples opinions of it. I do see some evil in halloween, I have seen how it turns Christians who are in a heated debate on how they say its evil into very judgmental people. One of my dearest friends was a called a satanist because she likes to eat candy watch a horror movie or two and give candy to kids. The only Evil i have seen so far is from us who call ourselves Christians who are to be love but debating this holiday shows anything but.

Shame BL. Not nice that they treat you this way. I don’t say you are a Satanist but the origin of the day has Satanic roots and that is why we should stay clear from it (if that make sense?).

Blain, not judging bro. But I am giving you my reason to stay clear from this day, that's all

my friend I don't care if people judge me or even if they attack me but when they do this to others that is when I draw the line, as I stated before I am not really celebrating it this year but I don't mind others doing so long as it doesn't involve anything satanic or something.

I remember when I watched horror movies when I was a kid. I remember being scared to death by one them so much that I couldn't sleep normally. Such a thing is not of God. There will be no saints dressing up as demons in heaven. Why would think having the appearance of evil is okay when Scripture forbids it?

I see kids dressing up as spider man or the hulk a princess or a cute cat I haven't seen any demons or something. even if it is evil instead of me worrying about it or something because lets be honest there is no stopping it I will have my mind and heart set on God. The fact is Halloween is a national holiday even if we wanted to stop it we couldn't, but I see nothing wrong with giving out candy to the kids.

I think Christians can go overboard about this . I personally don't participate in these kinds of festivities; like Halloween .
But I wouldn't get on some ones case because they do.
And while bad things happen , that's the reason i don't join in, nor encourage others to do so, because people are nuts .
But it's not worth this much attention . Because at the end of the day, its just people having fun.
