I still have 4 more nights before my first day off so i am taking the time to do some soul searching, count blessings, and exanine where i went wrong in life. Basically preparing myself to start reading the bible again. So until i have finished this task i may be holding off on some of my questions.

But as i ponder my walk with Christ, it got me wondering about some of the conversations ive had over the years with other christians. I cannot count how many ive run into that preach but dont understand the sourse material. Some are able to quote entire chapters from books from billy gram, benny hinn, and the like, but get that deer in the headlights look when ut cones to actual passages in the bible.

Now i was never able to quote much from the text when i was a christian the first time. But i can say that at least i had read it. But this thing about those who havent? Its the cornerstine text of your religion, why wouldnt you read it? I "debated" someone once for two hours inly ti finally find out that this 20 year christian had read only 4verses the entire time. Ill let that sink in. Not chapters, verses.

Look, i understand the bible is a hard read; to this day i can find no better sleep aid that the bible's "begat" sections. I get it. But this us the book your faith is based in. Why would that not have been the very FIRST book you read?

So im not posing any questions tonight. I dont want finger pointing, no errs... Ummm. Or wells. I dint even want confessions. You all know who you are. So tonight, im propsing a challenge. I hope to start reading again by next friday night. One week. So those who take this challenge, nark it on your calendeers. And read thru the whole thing. You might be surprised what you find.

Ill report occassionally where i am and we can discus if wished. But please folks. Im begging you. If you have never read it, please join me for this challenge.

Got off to consider getting a few more minutes of sleep but glad I felt to come back on. Hadn't seen this post.Good on you!!! If I could just make one suggestion ~ stay with the N.T. and start with the gospel of John - then read through Galatians - then the rest of the N.T. Epistles. Just a suggestion!Love in Christ Jesus!!
