.....and God desires the wicked not to die but to repent/turn and live Eze 33:11

.....and God is willing all men come to repentance 2 Pet 3:9

Our role is to make a choice. Jesus way or no way.

Why will you not believe and receive? Why do you resist God?

We have the role to chose it or not..we chose it by faith..I would say that is a pretty big role we play in our own salvation..plus we must take the walk with Jesus everyday..how is that not having a role in our salvation?

Make a choice about what? What is Jesus' way?
Chose to following Him..live by His word..repent..accepting His sacrifice..asking for forgiveness...not repeating the same sin over and over again..did I mention accepting Him as Lord and Savior???:D

your line of thought doesn't paint the 'whole-picture', because another scripture says that
whoremongers, adulterers', murderers, etc, 'they will be cast into the 'lake of fire'.

I'm not willing that any of MY OWN children should disobey, but I know that they certainly
have their OWN WILL and will do as they please.

Jesus put the 'ball' in each of our corners, at different points, it's how we play the game
of Eternal Life or Eternal Death that determines our ultimate fate.

So man does have a role in his own salvation by choosing to believe, follow Christ.

Those that do choose to believe, follow Christ are then saving themselves (Acts 2:40: 1 Tim 4:16) by choosing to believe and follow Christ. Those that choose not to believe and follow Christ are making themselves to be lost.

Those that choose to believe and follow Christ are not earning their salvation but fulfilling their role required in being saved. So even though Christ died on the cross for every man that alone will not save every man for every man will not do his role in being saved.

This is truth. If God is for us, then what man can be against us?

Whoremongers, adulterers', murderers, are lost for they did not fulfill their required role in being saved....they did not "save themselves" but cause themselves to be lost by not doing their role in their own salvation.

We are not saving our selves..we are choosing to be saved by Christ...dont you feel you are taking something away from Christ if you say we saving our self? If we are drowning and someone swims out and saves us are they not the hero? Even though we chose to hang onto that person they are still the one who saved you from drowning..(Are you purposely trying to get people to see that it matters how we state things)?

God has a sovereign right to confront every man about his sin. You have a choice as to how to answer.

Salvation is not a choice, it is a common gift of God, given to all like the sun or rain.

i heard a story on the radio last week about a man wanting to join a church, and the elders were interviewing him.
they asked him how it was that he got saved from sin. he said -
"God did His part and i did my part"
now they thought they had him - they said which part was yours and which part was God's? he answered -
"i did the sinning, and God did the saving"

what do you guys think of that?

personally it seems like every time i exercise "free will" it's to move away from God.

and every time i move towards Him, it turns out i was "predestined" to.

the story i heard was framed that it was a black man joining a white church in the South. broadcast was from mid-1960's, so i guess it might have been more relevant then - maybe i shouldn't have left that bit out :)

that's honestly hard to answer!

yes, i freely choose, but the "i" that loves Him is a new "i" that's alive and willing, while there is an old dead "i" hanging around in my flesh that wants to reject Him every day. that new living "i" is a gift, from outside myself to the inside of myself, and the things "i" do in it are good things i was "preordained to do" (Ephesians 2:10) -- but was "i" also preordained to sin? the sinner in me has no part in the kingdom - the dead "i" is crumbling into dust and only the living "i" will be left after the whole world is tried with fire.

For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
(Romans 8:22-23)

i'm groaning inside, waiting for the old dead me to be buried and the new living me to be fully made like Him!

this whole Christianity thing is like a continual identity crisis!
like the song goes - "
see i & i? can you see Jah love?"

some part of me was predestined to freely choose Him, when He freely chose me, before time began.
