ATHEISM
Hi saints earlier today I was viewing (on youtube) one of the very first Oprah shows and her guest were atheists. Now I dont have any degrees or anything but here is my understanding of what atheists are
ATHEISTS are people who dont believe in any religion. That their isn't any higher beings in a supernatural world and that when they die. Thats it its all over and your dead. Now the tvshow was really interesting. One woman ask the athletes what is your viewpoint on morality dont talk about how Christianity is wrong tell me how do you judge right or wrong without a supernatural . One of the lady atheist awnsered. What i do is ask myself is it reasonably is it kind....that really got me heated lol IS IT REASONABLE IS IT KIND!!
What about the people in wars and in life or death situation. That rule will be easily discarded if a gun were up to your head. I mean really anybody who believes that crap is really living a sheltered lifestyle.
One other thingI DONT CARE WHO YOU ARE I KNO THIS TO BE TRUE. (God forbid) you get kidnapped and after being tortured is thrown into a hole/box/cell whatever and theres absolutely no way out...SOON YOU WILL BE CALLING ON THE HELP OF THE LORD. Now I kno u got to agree? :)

The little girl at Columbine with gun pointed to her head was told to renounce Jesus and she said no and the gunman pulled the trigger sending a bullet in her brain and she is now with Jesus at 18 years old. Atheist need to shut up and go away and if they don't repent burn in the hell that they wish for.

It is my mission to pray for them so that they won't perish. For I am commanded by God (Christ) to love all people. It is my hope that you will feel compassion for them so that their hearts might be changed.

This is an on going debate between atheist and religious people. Mut sinxe you are loking for opinions. I think the general athestic consenses is if you dont want it done to you then dont do it to others.

Actually, the general consenses of Atheists is that they're kinder, better, more compassionate than God.

Isa 65:5 Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than Thou.

Some how that phrase "holier than thou" got twisted over the centuries to mean one person against another person - when it was the people talking to God.

I know enough atheists and their #1 reason for not wanting God in their lives is because of lame reasons such as this ... that they feel that God is not as compassionate, etc as they are.

I've heard it said that it takes more 'faith' to believe in nothing (atheism) than it does to believe in even a false god.
Nothing comes from nothing. Nothing ever could. BUT GOD!!

"There are no atheists in foxholes."

The origin of the quotation is uncertain.
U. S. Military Chaplain William Thomas Cummings may have said it in a field sermon during the Battle of Bataan in 1942, though scholars have been unable to find a firsthand witness to the sermon.Other sources credit Lieutenant Colonel Warren J. Clear (or the anonymous sergeant he spoke with there), who was also at Bataan and published the usage in 1942; or Lieutenant Colonel William Casey. The phrase is often attributed to war correspondent Ernie Pyle; however, no such source published prior to Pyle's death is known. It was also quoted by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in remarks broadcast from the White House as part of a February 7, 1954, American Legion Program. With slightly different wording, the statement appears much earlier in press reports dating from the end of the First World War.

the reason my husband has told me that he was once on the fence of being an atheist and an agnostic,
in his teens and early twenties, is because of the utter blatant hypocrites that he witnessed on a regular basis,
not only in college, but just about every where he went, whether work or play.

one example: a 500# 'preacher' teaching/preaching, 'temperance'.
reading in the news about many of the most popular 'preachers' getting caught in
questionable sexual practices.
praying on the elderly for their meager saving, etc...
general 'clownsmenship'.

of course the irony is, 'so was it then, so is it now'.

Praise God, that my husband no longer confuses the frailties and weakness of 'man-made-religion'
with the Glorious, Power, Strength, and Truth, and merciful Holy Love of God.

Many people adopt atheism as they do not want moral rules to live by. They figure that the rules that govern them on this earthly plane are sufficient ~ they don't want more rules or commandments to follow. "Enough is enough" they say. As a Christian, I love all people as is intended for me. Therefore, I will never hate an atheist. Being an atheist is a choice. To me it's a terrible choice to make. To know that when we die, we die... that's it. Well, what's the point? I live my life with my heart and mind looking toward an eternal future. Who wouldn't want that? Atheists, I guess.

I'm really sorry for atheists, I pray for their conversion, and for me to understand them better, so I can help the Lord's work and do my part.

Do you know any atheists? It is past my bedtime or I would provide a detailed response, but I will start by saying that you speak like someone who has had no personal discussions with any atheists.

Another bit of nonsense. Wish I had time for a detailed response.

Well, i have talked to some who have said why did God let this happen to me. It was not God, it was ungodly people. Then there are the evolutionist. Two in real life that i know seem to be really narcissistic and do not care who's life they mess up.
As long as they get what they want.(very materialistic).
They believe life is what you believe it to be.

But the Lord knows who is his sheep and wants all to come to him.

I asked atheists if they believed in right and wrong. One said no- that right and wrong are only a matter of opinion (Still trying to figure out if he don't believe in it, how is it a matter of opinion?). So I asked him if someone murdered him- is that only wrong by a matter of opinion? He said no- that that would be wrong. (Interesting).

I asked another atheist the same question. He said yes- that he believes in right and wrong. I asked if he believed in good and evil, he said yes. So I asked, "But you don't believe that good and evil have a source?" He said no. I asked if he believed that his conscience tells him what's good or bad to do and say. He said yes. So I asked him, "If one person's opinion is that something is right, and another person says that that exact same thing it is wrong, who is correct?" He said that right and wrong are not a matter of opinion- right is just right and wrong is wrong. So I asked who then decides what is right? He said your conscience tells you. So I asked who or what was telling his conscience what is right and what is wrong? He looked away as if to ponder it, and then he smiled. He said it's good talkin to ya, and he walked away.

Another atheist told me plainly, "I just don't believe in God." and I told him plainly, "Someday you will, when you are before Him- for every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that he is Lord." He had a look on his face like 'What if it's true?' Years later he was baptized.

Like you said, I believe there have been atheists who cried out to God in the midst of despair.

And some have said to me that they do believe, but they want to have fun first while they can still enjoy life. Of course I mentioned that you never know how long your life will be, what if you died instantly in a car accident? Your faint would then be sealed for all eternity. But they are still risking their eternal salvation for the sake of fun.

Bottom line is it's our job to feed them scripture and logic, but the choice has to be theirs.

The fool hath said in his heart that there is no God......God has built into man a certain level of morality and somewhat of a conscience....yes they both get violated everyday by many, but even lost men and women can have a certain level of decency about them and or a sense of morality, but at the end of the day they will bust hell wide open when they die just like a Satanist would......!

However, there is the following website:

Military Association of Atheists & Freethinkers | Atheists in Foxholes, in Cockpits, and on Ships - Military Association of Atheists & Freethinkers

And there is an informative article by an American soldier who became an atheist during combat:

I Was An Atheist In A Foxhole

If you search on-line you will find other sites dedicated to American combat atheists.
The saying "there are no atheists in foxholes" can refer to the essence of the human being who hopes even when there is apparently nothing to hope for. You don't need to examine all the soldiers in order to understand this truth. My husband was not in a foxhole, but in a shaking plane, and he prayed to God although he was an atheist. Because in a shaking plane, or in a war, if you are going to ask for help, you are not going to ask it from another mere human being, but to God.

You don't need to examine the tears of all the mothers in the world in order to speak about the tears of a mother (in general); the same goes with the atheists in a foxhole.

It is amazing how the Holy Spirit can use us when we yield ourselves fully. I have told some very nasty people of God's love for them, walked away, thought about what they were like, and said to myself, "How was I able to be so nice to that rotten person?" It's amazing how God can use us if we let Him.
