So I wanted to invite a friend to our thanksgiving but I know some family may be offended. Then I remembered what the Bible says about who to invite to your feast: the poor. My friend is poor and has no family here in this state. So I'm inviting him. We all probably know a few people like this. In your attempt to make your holiday memorable, don't miss the chance to be more like Jesus and invite with grace a few unfortunate souls to your house.

Do what you think is best, but as for me, since this is a family gathering, I would check with the family to see if they are comfortable with anyone I would invite first. And even let them know the circumstances this person is in. But if they are not comfortable, I would just keep it family. Invite this person another time or the day before.

Families sometimes have enough "struggle" just to be together on a holiday. Don't add to it.

always do your best to emulate your Lord and Master, whether at family functions or otherwise.
always, always obey God, for we should seek the favor of Jesus Christ first, above the favor
of men.

live peacefully among yourselves as much as possible, but do no think that Christ came
to bring peace, indeed, He brought a sword.

and a man's enemies are those of his own household.

I remember one Thanksgiving my daughter and I were invited to a friends house. I invited an elderly lady I had been helping and a friend from work who was going to be alone that day and my friend from work asked if his neighbor could come. So I showed up with three extra people one of which I didn't know.

It was a great Thanksgiving day and a good time has had by all. Sometimes you just got to go with the flow and thank God my friend was understanding and knew me too well. He was o.k. with it and exhibited a true Christian spirit uninvited guests and all.

Something about these words bother me. Are you lacking in true caring and love for your family? Is "another slice of humble pie for all I care" unforgiving words? I just think you could have said it better.
