I am having difficulty with agape at the moment.I recognise that it is a God-like love which we imitate and give to those who may indeed be unworthy of it ...but wow....how hard it is...it seems to go against our every natural inclination.W

When I catch a glimpse of what people are really like ..I can't help but marvel at the gospel - that God who see's all -including the depths of the wickedness of the human soul would give His most precious Son and empty Himself of His glory for such despicable people as us.I must tread carefully here , but I would say that it is grace that is almost .....scandalous.
What motivates such a love, I wonder.....?Because He was the Lamb that was slain from before the foundations of the world......one can only hope that in the light of such sacrifice ...people would be willing to put their own ambitions aside and make it their ambition be pleasing to Him.

John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Can you do this, even if you loses your life like your finances and so on, to become poor just to be with Him? But I doesn't think that we are able; we just like to keep on blessing God for the good things, not the bad.

4 “Skin for skin!” (You only get good, if you give good) Satan replied. “A man will give all he has for his own life. 5 But now stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face.”

6 The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life.”

Job 2:10 He replied, “You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?” In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.

Luke 6:32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. (Skin for skin)

Mooky I have wondered the same thing. I will be talking to God and wonder how he could love a person such as me, then I think of the most vile and evil ppl that he has saved and I say to him you must have seen something worth saving. something deep under all the darkness and filth I bet he saw a precious gem that he would die a thousand times over for, who is more important to him than his own throne and who he loves so deeply.

You are correct in saying it goes against our nature, our eyes do not see what he sees nor do our hearts love how he loves. But I do know this, if he is willing to go that far for even the most evil of ppl because he loves them that much I think we should be willing to as well. To see with his eyes, love with his heart and even if possible take on his very spirit and divine nature....can you imagine such a wonder gift?

I never read any other posts.

Jesus see you at your created value. Like the relation ship with A and E.

We need to see each other the same. We cant cause were carnel. So we get alone with Daddy and ask for His heart to see people the way He sees them. Simple. and it works.

Lord you asked me to pray for my city. I want to pray for them because there lost sinners and the way they life well its terrible lord you need to sort them lord.

He say no like He has said since how long.

This is how you should pray father forgive them. I love want to love them lord but I cant. But if I had your heart. If I could see them the way you see them Lord them I could love them like you love them. Ba boom baby.

With out love forget it. Most of us pray and its very conditional.

Christ love is unconditional.

Even the Christiand love for there own children is conditional.
How many of ya turned on your kids because they embaressed you. Got preggers took a drink smoked a drug?
Your love is from the flesh and its very conditional.
If your wife /hubby had sex with the neighbour. he she is out. Or if you keep them it will eat you up for life.
Thats all conditional love.
We are incapable of true love. We need to ask God in our daily relationship.

Listen you want to prophsey, heal the sick teach lead. spend time alone waiting on God . How bad ya want it.
I could go on for ever.

God also knows that some of us really do approve of being exactly what God decides we should be, and the real us is the us we approve of, not the us that is not perfected yet. If we do that which we don't want to do, it's not us that does it but sin in our flesh. How to perform that which is good some have not found yet.

If a person is less than 83.3333 years old, they are still less than 1 hour old. Faith of a child. Adam didn't live even one full day in an earthen vessel. He too was a baby child.

Mooky, you're exactly right.
God's grace is scandalous!

It's only Him working through us that enables us to show this grace to others...
It's only spending time with Him in prayer and the Word,
receiving that grace from Him, that can get the work He's given us properly done.

really nice post! :)

Trying to understand the love of God and how to apply that love happens in the body of Christ among believers. Each believer has a supply of the Spirit that attributes to how we comprehend the love of God and how that love is shed abroad in our hearts toward others through the Holy Spirit (Rom 5:5). The fulness of that love is in the body, the church, and we receive that agape love in its many dimensions through the members of Christ's body. Not only are we to know the love of God that passeth understanding but we dwell in the midst of that love in the body of Christ, which Christ is the head. The agape love of (1 Cor 13) is experienced and reciprocated through a give and receive process among believers in the details of life and spills out to others with the gospel in all the world.

Eph 1:22,23
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Eph 3:16-19
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Eph 4:15,16
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

1 Jn 4:6-21
6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
19 We love him, because he first loved us.
20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.
