Job 14 states that the number of your days and months have been predetermined with God before you come forth......it seems that this is the case...and Like Jeremiah....God knew him before he was brought forth from his mothers womb......just a few thoughts......!

Do you think this applies only to Christians since David wrote these words? If so, do we all have a day appointed to die?
Or could it mean that the "days formed for me" were what he had planned for me to be doing while I was living?

Or.... I better go off to bed - my mind is getting tired now and I'm liable to say anything.

Can't wait to check more of your thoughts tomorrow morning.

Not sure if this has any insight, but this scripture came to mind when I read the posted scripture...

In the beginning was the word, and the word was in God's presance, and the word was God,
And in Him, everything that was made was made,
And everything that was not, was not made.

God bless

"Do you think this applies only to Christians since David wrote these words?" No because He created us all.

"If so, do we all have a day appointed to die?" Yes, he knew you and had plans for your live before you were formed. How amazing is our God? :)

"Or could it mean that the "days formed for me" were what he had planned for me to be doing while I was living?" The Bible is clear that He knows the end from the beginning.

"Or.... I better go off to bed - my mind is getting tired now and I'm liable to say anything." Enjoy the rest

The KJV words it differently, it doesn't mention "days" at all. You must pick-up the subject in verse 13. I believe the writer (David) is speaking about how God knew him before he was formed in his mothers womb. Would seem to give credence to the anti-abortion debate? jmo

[SUP]"13 [/SUP]For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. [SUP]14 [/SUP]I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. [SUP]15 [/SUP]My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. [SUP]16 [/SUP]Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them." [SUP]"13 [/SUP]For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb. [SUP]15 [/SUP]My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. [SUP]16 [/SUP]Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them." (Psalm 139:13-16)
How well you know me my God. You saw me while I slept in the womb, looking at me while I wasn't yet formed enough to live outside it. Oh, you wrote everything about my little imperfect body, soul, and spirit in you wonderful book of life. You held my few organs in your hands, even my little kidneys, comforting me. How wonderfully you have made me, Lord, and I praise you. Then when fashioned perfectly all my members were recorded in your book.

Me: I have awakened now, made in your image and likeness, a man knowing you Lord have great many precious thoughts of me all my life. I will pray for my friend today, laying hands on his heart, and ask that his imperfection be righted by how his heart was known by you while perfectly formed in his mother's womb, as written in your book. Heart, be healed in the mighty name of Jesus. Wake up to the precious memories while you were perfectly formed. Our God knew you early, and knows, and can perform mighty acts of mercy.

God provides us precious words of comfort for each other, words that heal. We have no more from God unless we ask for it in faith believing. Like God did in the creation week, open your mouth, speak what He gives you to say. If He tells you, and you ask according to His words, you will have it. Our operating manual is to be put to use all our life on earth. He already knows you well, will not be surprised about your concerns. He has been with you since you were first conceived, yet an indistinct fetus, forming every part. God is not willing to let those parts go bad, so praise Him for His perfection, His love, His glory. He still has the hairs on your head numbered. So speak up often, enjoy His fellowship as much outside the womb and when in it.

Exodus 23:26 There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.
Job 14:5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
Job 15:20 The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.
Psalms 55:23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee.

Look how it changes from "members" to "days" - radical difference I think.

Psalm 139:16 (KJ21)

[SUP]16 [/SUP]Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being imperfect; and in Thy book all my members were written, which in continuity were fashioned, when as yet there were none of them.

Psalm 139:16 (ASV)

[SUP]16 [/SUP]Thine eyes did see mine unformed substance; And in thy book they were all written, Even the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was none of them.

Psalm 139:16 (AMP)

[SUP]16 [/SUP]Your eyes saw my unformed substance, and in Your book all the days [of my life] were written before ever they took shape, when as yet there was none of them.

Psalm 139:16 (NRSV)

Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your book were written all the days that were formed for me, when none of them as yet existed.

Deep stuff for sure. Not sure about the meaning when the two are compared. Hope someone gives more explanation.

I love to take it like this (wrong or right) - it makes me feel good and sounds like something God would do:

The number of days I would live were planned for me even when I was being formed in the womb of my mother.
And I will not die until God says "Now - it is time for you to take a new breath in a new place".

There are some who would debate this - and that's okay - but it feels right to my spirit - and lines up with some of the other verses SoulWeaver quoted:

Exodus 23:26 There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil.
Job 14:5 Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;
Job 15:20 The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor.
Psalms 55:23 But thou, O God, shalt bring them down into the pit of destruction: bloody and deceitful men shall not live out half their days; but I will trust in thee. .

When I read that scripture what immediately came to my mind was

Jer 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

I believe He does have a plan for us, we ourselves stand in the way of it's perfection and/or completion but praise God, He doesn't give up on us, He picks us up, brushes us off and puts us back on the path.

If you have a Bible that shows several words in verse 16 that are italicized, those were added to the original Hebrew text for clarity, which will be more evident below. The days were linked to the subject of the formation of the embryo, God seeing the whole process of development before there was an embryo.

The Hebrew in English words would read "embryo-of-me they-saw eyes-of-you and-on scroll-of-you all-of-them they-are-being-written days they-were-formed and-not one in-them"

Context is had by looking around that. Here's KJV again, skipping over a lot of Hebrew transliterations:

Psalm 139:14-16 (KJV)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
[SUP]15 [/SUP] My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
[SUP]16 [/SUP] Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

In verse 14 and 15 "substance" has the same meaning of "embryo of me", described as having parts or members in English, "members" in italics for clarity. In verse 15 "wrought" is from Hebrew meaning "I was embroidered".

I must then opine that the "days" have to do with the period of embryo development until the perfect body was formed and finished, complete with working mind, and his or her spirit.

Those days are very vital ones, we would all agree. But I don't find backup scriptures saying that verse means God has written out all the days of our lives. He does have a plan for each of us. If we submit to God, avoid evil, resist the Devil, the Devil will flee, leaving us to find God's plan for each of us and execute it. Psalm 34:14-16 (KJV)
[SUP]14 [/SUP] Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
[SUP]15 [/SUP] The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
[SUP]16 [/SUP] The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

There is no limit of days for that promise.

My wife and I love the fact that our beginning days of formation were so dearly watched by God, and thank God for a healthy start. We pray those verses as part of prayers for healing almost everyday over someone. That and several more scriptures build faith, and results follow. That helps the sick to turn their focus from their ailments to that wonderful assurance of how much God cares for every person, brought to term and birthed, or not.

This is partly why many Christians are rightfully so opposed to abortion, seeing how much God values an unborn child, an infant, a toddler, a teen, adult, senior adult. Our body is made to last a long time, deserving the respect God has for it. Jesus died so ours would not require many stripes.

We include the conclusion of the thoughts of God given by inspiration to David.

Psalm 139:17-18 (KJV)
[SUP]17 [/SUP]
How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
[SUP]18 [/SUP] If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

I have no clue what you quoted, but here is Psalm 139:16, and it is simple to understand as written.

"Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them."

If you would like an indepth discussion of it, go here and read the 16th scripture discourse.

Yes, God knows all. Just as the Father knew all of Jesus' days before they happened, He knew all of ours. He knows every hair on our head, when we sit, when we lie down, He knows everything. He's God.
