Hello; and welcome to a grass-roots collection of well over 400 specific
items-- beginning in the book of Acts and concluding in the book of
Revelation --stipulating the Lord's rules of conduct for each and every
Christian in the whole world regardless of their denominational affiliation.

Some Christians regard any and all commandments as a throw-back to
Israel's covenanted law. But let me assure them the commandments in my
collection are not those of the first covenant, but those of the second; viz:
Christ's law rather than Moses' law.

†. 1Cor 14:37 . . If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let
him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the
commandments of The Lord.

†. 1Ths 4:1-2 . .We beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord
Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please
God, so ye would abound more and more. For ye know what commandments
we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

1) Acts 15:19-20 . . Abstain from food tainted by idols, from promiscuity,
from the meat of strangled animals, and from blood.

The meat of a strangled animal is different than that of a butchered animal.
Though a strangled animal may be brain dead, it's flesh will be viable for a
bit because the blood in its veins still has usable oxygen in it. This is why the
new rules for CPR recommend concentrating on chest compressions first
while delaying blowing air into somebody's lungs till a little later.

In essence what we're talking about here is eating living flesh versus
ordinary raw flesh. Christians may eat all the raw, uncooked meat they want
just so long as they are absolutely certain the meat is dead beyond
recovery.

Though this is one of Christ's wishes; it has been God's wishes ever since
Noah came off the ark. (Gen 9:3-4)

2) Rom 6:11 . . Count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ
Jesus.

"dead to sin" doesn't mean the Lord's sheep don't sin (cf. 1John 1:8 10). It
means they're no longer in grave peril of sin's ultimate consequences. (John
5:24, Rom 5:6-11, Rom 6:3-11)

I've had lots of unbelievers protest that if it were true that the Lord's sheep
are in no peril of sin's ultimate consequences; then they would have a
license to steal. The answer to that is both YES and NO

The big difference is that when the Lord's sheep sin, it's a family matter; but
when outsiders sin; it's a criminal matter. While outsiders face justice for
their sins, the family only faces discipline because their justice was satisfied
at Calvary. (cf. Isa 53:1-12 and Rom 6:3-11)

For example; when my brother and I were kids; we pelted my dad's old
Hudson Hornet with eggs and made a big mess of it. My dad not only
blistered our bottoms but also made us wash it all off. But if somebody else's
kids had pelted my dad's Hudson, he would have called the police. You see,
for my brother and I, the egging was a family matter; but had an outsider
egged my dad's car it would have been a criminal matter and something to
be settled in court rather than in my dad's wood shed; if you know what I
mean.

3) Rom 6:12 . . Do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its
evil desires.

Cain was given pretty much the same instructions. (Gen 4:7)

4) Rom 6:13 . . Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of
wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been
brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to Him as
instruments of righteousness.

5) Rom 12:1 . . Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto
God, which is your reasonable service.

The above indicates that sacrifices don't have to be deceased in order to
qualify as valid offerings. (cf. Gen 22:12, Jgs 11:30-40,1Sam 1:1-28)

6) Rom 12:2 . . And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed
by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

I heard a story about some students in a seminary who prayed about an
upcoming exam instead of cracking the books and burning the midnight oil.
Apparently they were somehow under the impression that the information
they needed for the exam would somehow drift up out of the duck feathers
where God had it stored in their pillows and be miraculously absorbed by the
gray cells in their brains-- and this while they were fast asleep.

Long story short; they all got an F on their exams; and not because the
professor despised their laziness; no, because they simply didn't know the
answers. Moral of the story is: in order to "renew your mind" and to "prove
what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God" one must take
the initiative to knuckle down and learn the Lord's wishes; viz: study the
Bible via either reading, sermons, Sunday school classes, seminars, lectures,
and/or radio programs like Thru The Bible and Back To The Bible, et al. This
stipulation is not optional by the way, no; it's one of the Lord's many
commandments; and I'm pretty sure he expects it to be obeyed.

Here are just some of the Lord's Commands for us today (Which are in the New Testament):

https://www.cai.org/bible-studies/1050-new-testament-commands

Now, not to be misunderstood: Christians obey God because they have been saved (By repenting of their sins and accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior). They do not obey God's Commands so as to be saved. A caterpillar does not make artificial wings to fly. A caterpillar transforms into a butterfly so as to fly. In other words, a life of holiness and fruitful works is just evidence that God lives within you (Who is the source of salvation). If there is no holiness and fruitful works, then one is not saved. But one's works does not save them because it is God who does the good work within them.

Also, Christian's follow the Commands in the New Testament and not the Old Testament. The Law of Moses is now obsolete (Hebrews 8:13). For no man puts new wine into old wine skins.

The site link above lists about 1,050 Commands. I have found a few more and listed them here:

Oh, and I although I stated my beliefs here on this topic. I am currently not interesed in endlessly debatng the idea of someone going back to the Law of Moses when we are under a New Covenant.

I have come to realize that folks who want to be in bondage to thinking they are saved by a "To Do List" are never able to realize the faith and salvation they can have in Jesus Christ. Not so as to do wrong. No, no. Most certainly not. One is changed spiritually if they are saved and they will not desire to rebel against God. If they slip up, they have God's grace and not their own human effort to fall back upon for salvation.

Oh, and I although I stated my beliefs here on this topic. I am currently not interesed in debatng the idea of someone going back to the Law of Moses when we are under a New Covenant.
A New Covenant based on the Torah...

Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

The word for Law in verse 33 is...

H8451

תֹּרָה תּוֹרָה
tôrâh tôrâh
to-raw', to-raw'
From H3384; a precept or statute, especially the Decalogue or Pentateuch: - law.
Total KJV occurrences: 219

So you can call it the Mosaic Law if you like and you can call it the Mosaic Covenant if you like. God called it His Covenant and the New Covenant He will make is based on the Law (Torah). What changes is the heart of the people, not the Law.

Not to be corrective here but you missed one...

Lev 23:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.
Lev 23:3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

You mean the plain truth of Romans 14 that says one man regards all days alike while another regards one day more than another? Paul says, let every man be convinced in his own mind. If Paul believed the Sabbath was still binding, he would have never said this. There is no specific clear command of the Sabbath being repeated in the New Testament. Certain NT Commands have changed the OT commands. Like turn the other cheek, ect. (in the NT) versus an eye for an eye (in the OT).

The Bible also says if you seek to be justified by the Law, you have fallen from grace, too. Jesus said His burden was easy and that it was light.

Actually Christ was not changing the command. notice He does not quote the law but rather says: "you have heard that it was said"...

If you read all of them and compare them to the law you will soon learn that Christ is going against the misuse of the law not the law in itself. He is not adding to it or changing it but giving it its proper context, which if you study can find in the Old Testament law also.

Romans 14 does not specify which Sabbath days are being referred to. as I am sure you know there were Sabbaths outside of the weekly Sabbath. It is mere assumption that Paul is referring to the 7th day Sabbath. The very day that Jesus the creator established before sin to remind us that God created the world.

So you have the 7th day which is a memorial of a day Jesus blessed and set apart and made Holy before sin even came to earth.

and you have feast Sabbaths which all prophesied of the Savior to come.

I wonder which one Paul had in mind? clue Romans 14 says other things that will help distinguish. Try colossi ans which also has a similar point from Paul.

blessings.

Try colossi ans which also has a similar point from Paul.

blessings.
Uh, what OT Law says one regards all the days the same? I dunno. Maybe you can tell me.

In other words, I think you are just ignoring what Romans 14 plainly says. One man regards every day the same and some regard every day over another.

In fact, Colossians confirms this.

Colossians 2:16
"Let no man there fore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:"

For the New Testament began with Christ's death. You know, that whole ...."For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator" (Hebrews 9:16) passage?

For the Temple veil was torn and the Aaronic priesthood was no more.

In other words, when a person writes a will and testament, it does not go into effect until until that person dies so his family can be a beneficiary. It is the same with Jesus Christ. When He (Christ - The Testator) died, then there was the Testament (i.e. the New Testament) so His family (God's people) can be the beneficiaries.

You keep misusing Rom 14. I guess I gotta post this again...

Rom 14:1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

The first thing we see here is that this chapter is about relating to a weak brother.

Rom 14:2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

The subject here? Vegetarianism

Rom 14:3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

So, if you encounter one who is weak in the faith and believes he must eat vegetables only, don’t let this puff you up…

2Co 10:12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

What is the gold standard here?

1Pe 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Rom 14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

Now to the meat and potatoes…

Rom 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
Rom 14:6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

Why is eating and fasting (not eating) connected to days here? Let’s see…

Luk 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
Luk 18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

From Bullingers Companion Bible…

Luke 18:12

twice in the week. The law prescribed only one in the year (Lev_16:29. Num_29:7). By the time of Zec_8:19 there were four yearly fasts. In our Lord's day they were bi-weekly (Monday and Thursday), between Passover and Pentecost; and between the Feast of Tabernacles and the Dedication.

Yes they fasted two days a week, Monday and Thursday, EVERY MONDAY and EVERY THURSDAY.

Rom 14:7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
Rom 14:8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
Rom 14:9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
Rom 14:10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
Rom 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Rom 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
Rom 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
Rom 14:14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
Rom 14:15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

Now Paul shifts his attention to meat offered to idols. At the time, meat and drink were offered to pagan idols. After it was offered it was sold in a meat market called the ‘Shambles’.

1Co 10:25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:

Shambles…

G3111
μάκελλον
makellon
Thayer Definition:
1) a place where meat and other articles of food are sold, meat market
Part of Speech: noun neuter
A Related Word by Thayer’s/Strong’s Number: of Latin origin [macellum]
Citing in TDNT: 4:370, 549

There were those who were weak in the faith (verse 1) who were offended by this. They somehow thought that eating that food was somehow connecting them with the idolatrous practices around them. This is why the following is written…

Rom 14:16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
Rom 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Meat here is…

G1035
βρῶσις

bro'-sis
From the base of G977; (abstractly) eating (literally or figuratively); by extension (concretely) food (literally or figuratively): - eating, food, meat.

Notice it is food, not clean or unclean flesh.

G4213
πόσις
posis
pos'-is
From the alternate of G4095; a drinking (the act), that is, (concretely) a draught: - drink.

Drinking, can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages. Paul was dealing with ascetism and the belief that doing without was somehow a show of character. He dealt with this issue at Colossae also…

Col 2:21 (Touch not; taste not; handle not;
Col 2:22 Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
Col 2:23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

Rom 14:18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.
Rom 14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
Rom 14:20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

The word for meat here is broma, from Thayer’s…

1) that which is eaten, food

Again, we are dealing with food.

Rom 14:21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

So, it is not dealing with clean and unclean, but with flesh (meat) and wine (drink) that makes a weak brother stumble.

Rom 14:22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
Rom 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

There is no passage in Rom 14 that deals with the Sabbath or clean and unclean meats. The subjects are vegetarianism, fasting and food and drink offered to idols.

So, have you ever read a deed? It is a covenant with provisions. When the owner of the property dies, do all the provision of that deed just go away? If you own some property, why don't you try that in a court of law? They will very quickly inform you that the death of the owner does not abrogate the provisions.

Christ's death did not abrogate the provisions of the Old Covenant (the Law) in fact, He said this about the Law...

Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Luk 16:17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

Now perhaps you can explain to me why Christ's plain statements here are not really true?
