Before Joshua led Israel over Jordan river, he took his shoes off his feet in the presence of the Captain of the Host of the Lord.

I would love input regarding this, because I don't know any interpretation of this occurrence besides one.

Thanks all.

This was the pre incarnate version of Jesus. You will not find anywhere that in the presence of an angel that they were told to remove their shoes or called Holy Ground. You will also find this with Moses at the burning bush. Out of the flame God spoke. Jesus is the Word of God.

Yes, I was just reading this passage from the book of Joshua yesterday. The Captain of the Host of the Lord is Jesus Christ himself, before He came to earth in human form. This must be Christ, the Lord's angels wouldn't accept God's children worshipping them. There are many instances of the per-incarnate Christ interacting with His people (these are called theophanies). It's all very interesting and shows further evidence for the belief that we serve a very personal and relational God, even in the Old Testament times.

Wow! How can I not rejoice at those responses. Some day we will see Him as He is, and we will be like Him, but Paul told us that we don't know what we shall be. Paul was talking about the real us, not the sin in our flesh. Thank y'all.

This is so very interesting that I still have only ever known about this one perspective. How then can people believe that Jesus is not God with no beginning, when they believe the Bible? Weird.
