Why does any believer believe what they believe? Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu,
Bahá'í, Hare Krishna, Jehovah's Witness, Mormon, Judaism, Voodoo, Wiccan,
Jain, Druze, Native American, etc, etc, etc. The answer is: they like it.

It's a known fact that quite a few of voters do their voting with their gut. In
other words, they settle on a candidate based upon how they feel about him,
and then use their minds to craft a justification for their choice. Take for
instance President Barack Hussein Obama. A large block of Americans voted
for him solely on the basis of his color rather than on the basis of his
executive ability. (Ironically Mr. Obama isn't even Black. He's what used to
be called Mulatto but is now called Mixed Race; viz: his father was Black, but
his mother was White. Lucky for him that his skin turned out dark or he may
have never won.)

Anyway, my point is: I've observed that people typically adhere to a religion
not with their mind; but with their feelings: the meanwhile using their minds
to defend their choice. Goes on all the time.

Even the mind falls short in grasping the things of God. This is why one must be born again.

1Co 2:4-14 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: (5) That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. (6) Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: (7) But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: (8) Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. (9) But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. (10) But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. (11) For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. (12) Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. (13) Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. (14) But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

When it comes to other religions most people believe what they were taught by their parents. They lived with their parents say 18 yrs so they tend to believe the same thing. A lot of the time without question.

Christianity is different. With Christianity it's God the Father through the Holy Spirit that entices a person to begin to question then believe. So with Christianity it's God working to draw us not man searching for God. (Many will argue this point for sure).

that's right. God is working , He says suffering is on purpose to ween us (everyone He calls) away from the thinking we have , to His Way of thinking. (Hebrews).
because no one is thinking His Way of thinking when they are born or grow up taught by evil churches or society.

There are only (2) methodologies which are in use to support any belief on the planet.

1.) Gathering everything that you can "use" to prove your beliefs true, and gathering everything you can "use" to prove all opposing beliefs false and then interpreting all of your "selected" data, facts, information, passages and verses ... in the light of your beliefs.

If you do this WITH ANY BELIEF OR BELIEF SET, you can believe anything you want to believe to "be" truth.

2.) You can gather absolutely everything that "might" relate to the topic at hand, and cut all of that information out straight holding to a meaning that fully fits with the context, flow of thought, flow of discussion, flow of arguments ... surrounding each and every passage, holding to a meaning for words that is consistent with how those same words/root words are used throughout the scriptures, then combining all of the meaning that is there so that everything fully fits with everything else. Being willing to reevaluate EVERYTHING should any new evidence present itself. Then altering your beliefs, and your life to fully fit.

The second one is what those that love the truth more than their beliefs. The first is what those that love their beliefs more than truth do. The first group habitually responds like those in Mat. 7:6. The second group always reevaluates EVERTYTHING that pertains to the topic at hand when ANYTHING doesn't seem to fit. If you love truth and I convince you that a belief is in error, you win because you got the truth. If your beliefs remain the same because the new piece of evidence doesn't alter your belief in the slightest you still win. Those in group 1 close their eyes and ears lest they see or hear the errors in their sacred beliefs. And while they believe they love truth, they actually hate it and want nothing to do with it.

If all you gather is those things you can use to prove your beliefs true, and those things you can use to prove all opposing beliefs false, all you can ever do is harden yourself into your current beliefs. You didn't look for truth. All you did was look for proof that your beliefs "are" truth. The methodology can NEVER get anyone to truth.

The just shall live by faith...
Without faith it is impossible to please God

It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that BELIEVE!

It always comes down to believing...the problem is the simple fact that the belief system of many is tainted with....

1. Pre-conceived ideas or ideologies
2. Being brain washed and deceived by past relationships and or the way they were raised
3. Willful ignorance of the truth
4. Open rejection of the truth
5. Being blinded by the master deceiver (Satan)
6. Not being open to learning and instruction
7. Being wise in your own eyes
8. ETC.

I am sure the list can be expanded!

There is a difference between belief and faith.

Belief is based on sound logic. On the other hand, faith is based on something more than logic. Jesus Christ is the Author of our faith, and can only come from a relationship with Him. It is planted in our hearts by the Holy Spirit as we hear the Word. It is based on what we cannot see - yet KNOW.

I just can't put into words all I'm trying to say because faith goes way beyond words and belief. Yet I could put into words all the things I believe in.

When you say belief are you talking about the kind of belief that the world would use based on things that they can perceive with their senses?( see taste hear smell or feel? )

Its simple, its down to the fact that the true God who created us, gave us free will. He didnt make us like robots, and have to worship him and him only, He gave us a mind to choose from right and wrong, many of us choose wrong, whether by accident or on purpose. or we may of been falsely brainwashed to believe. You got to rememeber that the enemy influenced tons of religions, faiths, beliefs you see and hear today. All to confuse, and deter you away from the real truth.

Most religions don't preach the true aspect what God wants, so therefore are leading people down the wrong path.
But again it all stems from free will that God gave us.

Yes - more than just logic - but based on "feelings" and perceptions based on their senses. I separate that from faith as I mentioned earlier.

People believe in what they believe because they never question nothing or could just say because they are ignorant but that might be kinda harsh. That goes for all dogma/ religions

Believing but never knowing ...o_O

And for the Obama winning because of color is false. As Joseph Stalin says

"Those who cast the votes decide nothing.
Those who count the votes decide everything."

Who said Mr. Obama won because of his color? Pay attention to language
and grammar.

The problem with this is that they are the EXACT SAME WORD in Greek, translated as either faith or belief depending on what sounds best in each passage. The word is Pistos. It is translated as faith or belief depending on which "sounds" better, not because of a difference in meaning.

It seems it does. I think there is a major lack of critical thinking.
