well, here's one you don't see everyday...

Song of Solomon 8:7
Many waters cannot quench love,
Nor will rivers overflow it;
If a man were to give all the riches of his house for love,
It would be utterly despised.

This one is so profound. I may have just passed over it one or two times while glancing in the Bible, but reading it here, posted by you Ellie.... made me stop and re-read it thrice.

It is beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing.

One of my favourites :)

Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

that verse makes me think of the Lord Jesus, Who really did give
all the riches of His house for love...

yet it wasn't quenched. ♥

i love you, Rachel. you bless me in ways you may not know till that Great Day.

Anyways, here are my favorite favorites from not so popular books in the Bible.

Micah 5:2 KJV
But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting."

Why is Micah 5:2 my favorite? Jesus is from everlasting. Jesus is God Almighty. That is so beautiful to me.

2 Chronicles 15:2 KJV
The LORD is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you

Why is 2 Chronicles 15:2 my favorite? Because it lets me know that the love between the Lord and me is genuine. For God wants true love from me and not a forced love. God values my love.

Song of Solomon 2:12 NIV
Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.

Why is Song of Solomon 2:12 my favorite? I believe the dove is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. True believers have the Holy Ghost living within them. Their call of the gospel message is the cooing of the Spirit for people to come to Him in love.

For there is nothing sweeter than love. More importantly the love of God.

Judges 7:16 KJV
And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers

Why is Judges 7:16 my favorite? See my post here at CC about,

Treasures in Jars of Clay.

Thank you for posting this! Next 2 verses are great too;

v3-4, "Therefore, He will give them up, until the time that she who is in labor has given birth; then the remnant of His brothers will return to the children of Israyl. He will stand and shepherd in the strength of Yahweh, in the majesty of the Name of Yahweh His Father; and they will abide, for now will He be great to the ends of the earth."

No I dont know it all by heart, its like I wont have it in mind and then when a idea, verse, passage is brought up and I can usually, thanks be to Yah, remember a general location or enough of the verse to search it.

Sincerely, some years ago I found out I was being lied to by my local religious church leaders and It bothered me soooo much, I went out on a mission to know what the Scriptures really said.

Im nobody, thanks be to Yahweh that He is there guiding us.

That's amazing. Incredible story in just two lines there.
I've seen people who can recall scripture without even thinking about it....an amazing gift for sure.

Jude 1:20-23 (KJV)
[SUP]20 [/SUP] But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
[SUP]21 [/SUP] Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
[SUP]22 [/SUP] And of some have compassion, making a difference:
[SUP]23 [/SUP] And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

A Methodist preacher asked me to help with the local jail ministry about 20 years ago. We met at a Gideon meeting. What he proposed to the group and then privately to me just wasn't my 'thing', so I politely said "I can't see myself doing that, so I'll have to say no." He quoted that scripture from memory. It struck me, verses I had not remembered being in the Bible, though I had certainly read those many times. God, not a man was the one calling to that ministry in addition to what I was already involved with. There it was, couldn't say no to that. I had in mind what Peter had held against gentiles, not worthy of the things of God until God corrected him. So I was corrected.

The older I get, the more I have been working on memorizing Scripture. I thought it would be difficult, but God seems to make it easy. I have been working on Romans 5, and it is amazing what you see in the chapter, that wasn't there on a simple read through. I heartily encourage everyone to memorize Scripture. Start with a short verse. Work on it daily, until it really sticks.

Here are some other verses that are not popular, which I like.

“Listen to me, O Jacob,
and Israel, whom I called!
I am he; I am the first,
and I am the last.
My hand laid the foundation of the earth,
and my right hand spread out the heavens;
when I call to them,
they stand forth together." Isaiah 48:12-13

"Sow for yourselves righteousness;
reap steadfast love;
break up your fallow ground,
for it is the time to seek the Lord,
that he may come and rain righteousness upon you." Hosea 10:12

Is 25:1
O Lord, You are my God;
I will exalt You, I will give thanks to Your name;
For You have worked wonders,
Plans formed long ago, with perfect faithfulness.

Is 25:8-9
He will swallow up death for all time,
And the Lord God will wipe tears away from all faces,
And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth;
For the Lord has spoken.
And it will be said in that day,
“Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us.
This is the Lord for whom we have waited;
Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”

love that whole chapter.

We all quote the popular ones, Psalms, Proverbs, Matthew, Luke, Revelation.
These are some of every Christian's 'go to books' for a proper debate.

When is the last time you saw someone quote or post from Nahum?......or Titus?
They are obviously there in the Bible for a reason, but do we look through them often enough?

What's your favorite verse from an 'unpopular' book?
Why?

Maybe you don't know.....because like me, you may not read them often enough to have one?

Hebrews 12 whole chapter

It is for discipline that you have to endure. iGod is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8 If you are left without discipline, jin which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9 Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to kthe Father of spirits land live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, mthat we may share his holiness. 11 nFor the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields othe peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

but this part has been really challenging

Is 2 Timothy an obscure enough book? I just posted it in another forum, but it really touched my heart when I thought of it today, so I think it is worth posting in two places!

"For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day." 2 Tim. 1:12

Titus also gets quoted rarely and it's a great epistle...

Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
Titus 3:2 To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. 3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

Malakyah/Malachi 1:6, "A son honors his father, and a servant his ruler. If then I am the Father, where is My honor? If I am the Supreme Ruler, where is My reverence? says Yahweh of hosts to you, O priests, who despise My Name! But you say; How have we despised Your Name?"

Deuteronomy 10:16, "Therefore circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and do not be stiff-necked any longer."

Psalm 89:28,34:, "My mercy I will keep for Him forever and My covenant will stand fast
with Him." v34"My covenant I will not break, nor will I change the Law that has gone out of My lips."

1 Kings 3:9
So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?”
