[FONT=Trebuchet, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]I know that idolatry is when you value something more than God. but at what point does that come true? Is it a matter of time spent with that object of desire, if so, how much time? Since that question cant be answered, I am basically asking for a definition to the point at witch something becomes idolatry.

whenever something is the center of your life other than Christ. you can have other things in your life, but we are to live for Christ. when we try to live for other things, but just have Christ as a part of our lives, this is what I call idolatry, my opinion.

It is anything that controls your life in the sense that if asked today to give it up you could not give it up.

well, yes and no. it is usually where and what's on your heart more so than what you do or don't do. but if a person is addicted to anything it is obvious that is an idol to them.
