I would think the vision for now would be to prepare for the coming trial. Lest many fall away as Jesus predicted.

3 fold.....

1. Make disciples through the eternal salvation of souls by the preaching of the word
2. Immerse those already SAVED disciples which is the picture, painting of the belief into the resurrection of Jesus I.E. public profession of faith and picture of inward conversion!
3. Teach those disciples to observe the word of God

if most all churches refer to it, it is probably popular among men.

Unfortunately there is so much denominational-ism, dis-unity and division in Christianity that many of His saints are falling away or worse, giving up and turning their backs on our Lord.

I always thought it was to conform us all to the image of Christ. To be a more complete expression of Him.

yes, good. but men don't know how to accomplish that, and when they know how, if they don't let God accomplish it, they fake it.
