We all know the "yes's" will win, but, I wanted a simple way for folks to see that there are a number of people who do NOT celebrate christmas, and can then begin asking why either in public or private.

(I would request from both sides of this particular fence that we shouldn't turn this thread into a debate thread because there are a number of those already, but we all know that isn't gonna happen)

No, I personally do not.

It is not the Messiah's birthday, it has pagan origins, and it's about materialism, something the Messiah spoke against.

Mattithyah 6:19, "Do not store up treasures for yourselves upon earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves do not break in and steal; For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

I do celebrate Christmas. It's one way I both worship Christ and remember Him coming to earth to live as one of us, limiting Himself for our sake. Suffering but living a life of purity and dying horribly but rising to new life, so that we might be reconciled back to our Heavenly Father.

I don't really. But my family does, so I'm kinda dragged into it. I'd prefer to skip it, other than celebrating the birth of Christ in church or with the family. The gifts and santa clause and the hyper consumerism of the holiday is completely unappealing to me.

I believe that Christ's birth (Christmas) and resurrection (Easter) should be remembered daily. Its all a daily celebration even without family time or gifts. So do I celebrate Jesus's birth? Yes, every single day in remembrance, just not like others may celebrate it. Same with Easter. To make it fair for everyone one in my family with different views and to Christ center December 25th I joked calling it light day. Because Jesus being the light of the world and "Christmas" lights being one of my most favourite things in the world we got plenty of lights and candles. Representing Jesus's light all through our house. Made up our own little holiday in which we know exactly that it is Christ based.

No, I don't. I do acknowledge the birth of Christ in Sept. which is when I believe He was born.

This seems more like a thread to pat oneself on the back and look down at those 'heathens' who celebrate Christmas. There are plenty here who don't celebrate and most of them let us know it, loud and clear! So, well done. Or something. Blah.

My not celebrating has nothing to do with any sense of self-righteousness. It just seems pointless to me is all. If others want to celebrate it, great. I see your point though. I'm talking more of the consumer side of the holiday as well, not the celebration of Christ part. Just seems pointless is all. And the whole santa clause thing is just ridiculous, especially for Christians.

Hey, dude...I don't celebrate "Christmas". My mom is hardcore against it..so much as to where my mouth would be washed out with soap just talking about Christmas. XD But my dad is all for it if our hearts are celebrating for the right reasons. I don't celebrate it the normal way but if your heart is all for Jesus and family that day..why not? :)

I understand why some dont celebrate Christmas. Scriptures are taken out of context to say Christmas is wrong. If to you it is sin dont celebrate it.But dont make those who do look like sinners. And if Christmas is wrong lets start by renaming the days of the week, all pagan. Then lets start renaming all sinful pagan things like The Tennessee Titans and I know you dont wear Nike!! or wear Pandora jewelry! Now I hope you dont drive a Saturn or chew Trident gum! All pagan names.BP has a sunflower logo named Helios after the sun god. Starbucks coffee has a Siren as their logo.I could go on and on.If Christmas is wrong then using any of these products is wrong. They all have pagan roots. Shoot most of the planets have names of false gods! So enough threads on I dont celebrate Christmas and if you do you're a sinner please.

Celebrate 'Christmas' as a secular holiday that it is, no different from New Years Day, 4th of July, etc.
Christians were never instructed to set aside Dec 25th as some Holy Day or religious event. Christians are not to go beyond that which is written. Christians were instructed to celebrate the death of Christ on the first day of the week in partaking of the Lord's Supper.

Show me some scriptures in or out of context that show xmas is right and should be observed.

It feels right to have a day to celebrate the birth of our saviour and when better to celebrate the light of the world than at the darkest time of the year. We all know Jesus wasn't born in December and we all know Christmas WAS ONCE a pagan festival but hey the dark has been turned into light. I'm celebrating!

Christians weren't instructed to start Sunday school or have potluck suppers, or have wedding rings that they wear on certain fingers. In fact many wedding traditions have pagan roots or superstitious practices. The wedding vows are not found word for word in the Bible. So while we should be literal when the Bible calls for it we need to make sure we're not being too literal.

Can I humbly and gently present this passage, I know its OT but its a lesson to learn from, we do not want to fall after the same pattern;

Heb 3:16-19, "For some, when they had heard, rebelled. But not all rebelled who came out of Egypt through Mosheh. But with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? And to whom did He vow that they would not enter into His rest, but to those who did not obey?So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief."

Deuteronomy 12:29-32, “When Yahweh your Father cuts off the nations from in front of you, and you displace them and live in their land, Be careful not to be ensnared into following them by asking about their gods, saying: How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do the same. You must not worship Yahweh your Father in their way, for every abomination to Yahweh, which He hates, they have done to their gods. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire as sacrifices to their gods. Whatsoever I command you, be careful to observe and do it, you shall not add to it, nor take away from it."

Just because we may not go to the extreme the fact remains, "You must not worship Yahweh your Father in their way"

Again, I do not want to argue, I just fell obligated toward a fellow believer.

Please read my comment above. As another said we observe other holidays not mentioned in the Bible like Mothers/Fathers day, both very commercial. My husband works for a flower delivery company, trust me people spend on Mothers Day.Thanksgiving also not mentioned in the Bible as a special day to celebrate. As I said above do you use any product or company that has pagan roots? Of course you do.So if we are to be puritans or purists theres a lot we will have to change in our daily lives other than Christmas.
