I do not consult a horoscope, I don't believe in it, but I have often wondered how it is that if you read a person's sky sign it fits their personality so well. I have looked up every person I know and it is very accurate. How can that be?

Yahweh created the universe and there are moadim (appointed times) that our understanding of is so limited that we cant being to grasp what the possibilities are.

However astronomy are astrology are different, astrology plays off true astronomy principles, but in the end twists them into "magik" the Creator says not to partake in this.

Regardless how accurate these things may appear God has given us strict instruction to leave these things alone because they are inherently evil.

I think a lot of it is simply a trick of our mind. I could list any number of personality traits and assign them to different astrological signs, and more than likely, everyone will fit those personality traits to enough of an extent that it leads them to believe that I understood their personality through astrological means, when in reality, all of us share those personality traits on some level.

You might want to have a look at this. It's in a bearing similar to what Forth Angel says.

It's called The Forer Effect.

It has been used to disprove pseudo sciences like Astrology and horoscope readings for a while.

Excerpt from wikipedia

The Forer effect (also called the Barnum effect after P. T. Barnum's observation that "we've got something for everyone") is the observation that individuals will give high accuracy ratings to descriptions of their personality that supposedly are tailored specifically for them, but are in fact vague and general enough to apply to a wide range of people. This effect can provide a partial explanation for the widespread acceptance of some beliefs and practices, such as astrology, fortune telling, graphology, aura reading and some types of personality tests.
A related and more general phenomenon is that of subjective validation.[SUP][1][/SUP] Subjective validation occurs when two unrelated or even random events are perceived to be related because a belief, expectation, or hypothesis demands a relationship. Thus people seek a correspondence between their perception of their personality and the contents of a horoscope.

Yes, avoid. Also avoid learning your own sign. It's a form of sorcery, attended by demons, familiar spirits. My mother and grandmother pressed my sign upon me, no doubt shaping my character and personality to that. It's like from birth inquiring of a witch how your child will be. If listened to and heeded, then that's the ill-advised direction taken.

In high school a girl began wanting to "go steady" with me, back then meaning go to the school games and dances together. We enjoyed a short friendship. It is true boys used to carry a girl's books home from school and buy her a cherry Coke. Soon she asked my birth sign. "Oh, no, we're not compatible!" That ended that, being a blessing to have more time fishing and hunting. It was hard taking my shotgun to school and carry her books home, and still have time to go shoot a squirrel for supper. Yes, us boys could keep our guns in our lockers.

My wife was worried whether we should be married because of the astrology of our signs, the prospectus dismal. We soon began ignoring all that, happily married 47 years so far. The signs lied and so did my mother's palm reader and astrologer who had prophesied over me to her in 1950 I would die in prison at age 50. My mother trembled over that always, spending untold money seeking other opinions. It robbed her of joy. Once I passed that deadline my mother was relieved greatly and told me about it, then was soon born again.

This seems to bring up synchronicity which I thought was related as well, but I didn't mention it.

God did tell Abraham to look up at the stars as they are representative of the seed and stock of Abraham by faith....

Each star...

1. Is named by God
2. Has it's own glory
3. Has it's own color
4. Some are bright and seen clearly (faithful witnesses) and some are not so bright and or not seen due to distance (not as faithful and or much of a witness)
5. Stars are (born) everyday and stars (die) everyday<--same with believers

OBVIOUSLY we are NOT to participate in Horoscopes and or astrology, palm reading, tarot cards etc........

Wow, this is the psychiatric pharmaceutical industries creed. List a bunch of everyday symptoms we all experience at one time or another, then say we have a pill that can fix that, then as fast as you can list all the side effects the drug may cause that usually sound much worse than the original problem they say it helps with.

Notice that that astrological (and other "psychic") stuff is so vague and broad that no matter what happens it could be said to be correct. "You will meet a woman today" yep new teller at the bank lol. All this stuff the forces of evil against us use to take our focus away from God and instead of living our lives according to God's Word we now live our lives around a "false prediction" so vague it always happens. So what is true? Our "astrological sign" does line up with our personality or "we are wonderfully made"? If you notice those who follow astrology or this psychic stuff are never truly happy because they worry about what this stuff says.

There is this spirit of soothsaying or divination. Demons can guess but they are not God, nor they truly know.
Acts 16:16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:

Then these people use vagueness as others mentioned, or another thing I've noticed, they flatter:
"you can handle much but not people who lie to you" (you are a person of such a great integrity)
"you deeply care about people around you but sometimes lose patience" (you are loving and caring angel)
"you are capable to get things done but sometimes just get tired" (you are a hard worker)
Which man will not embrace flattery?

What you have noticed is coincidence, because there are actually many people who strongly do not fit. I debated some people in real life who believe astrology, and when I pointed this out, they said "oh, but there is always about 20% of those who do not fit, they are the opposite way". Then what is the point if a percentage is always wrong, or how to expose this lie? That way anything and anybody can be right.

Thought a bit and wanted to add this. I have already been discussing this with some friends on here, but actually Zodiac was forged that way by God to tell the storyline about Jesus. It is all about Him, not men. God reflects His glory in all created things. (no, I am not any kind of astrotheologist, I just believe what the Bible says and stars submit to the Word of God!)
Initially, Zodiac cycle was beginning with Virgo and ended with Leo, not as it is today!
It represents the storyline from the virgin birth of the Messiah to the victorious Lion of Judah!
So the devils had it switched and then twisted to mean something else...
The original carvings in Mesopotamia and Egypt I think (I'm sure about the existance of carvings but the location) confirm this. Hard to dig it out now because it only throws up horoscope pages, but I've seen it. Also, God named stars, not man, although man changed the names later. Some of the original names are recorded in the Bible, like Rephan, Orion and others. When these ancient names are translated, it completes and confirms further the Gospel narrative represented by the pictures.
12 is the number of God's government, and it is not different with the Zodiac or Mazzaroth (Job 38:31-32). 12 tribes, 12 apostles, and Jesus is the 13th, God the governer in the midst like the Sun of righteousness (Malachi 4:2). Note they talk about this "13th" sign Ophiuchus, or man grasping the snake. Which would be Jesus crucifying the flesh:
John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up.
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

So this is how stars were made "for signs and seasons" too and they reflect Biblical prophecy. What seasons could concern God more than coming and the mission of Christ?
Matthew 16:3-4 And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
Jesus was referring to Himself and them not believing Him.

If you notice those who follow astrology or this psychic stuff are never truly happy because they worry about what this stuff says.
It is a form of self-hypnosis. I have witnessed repeatedly fortunetelling being used to place a curse upon somebody and cause them to fail in some way, although initially a person might get some favor. You are foretold that you will prosper in a certain area, then you do, because they have to give you a bait (who would run to demons if they promised destruction), but later it is all taken away and you are being destroyed in that area and other areas in your life because you gave the demons permission by agreeing with them having dominion over you. This is how I've seen it work. They also use it to explain away bad things that happened in the past, because of the planets, and not because the person allowed demons in their life.

Jimbone, the Greek word for Witchcraft used in the New Testament is pharmekia, and is the same word we get pharmacy from today.

AN OBSERVER OF TIMES
GAL.4
[8] Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them
which by nature are no gods.[9] But now, after that ye have known God,
or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly
elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

[10] YE OBSERVE DAYS, AND MONTHS, AND TIMES, AND YEARS.
[11] I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.

DEUT.18
[9] When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee,
thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
[10] There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his
daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination,

OR AN OBSERVER OF TIMES, or an enchanter, or a witch,
[11] Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits,
or a wizard, or a necromancer.

2 CHR.33
[3] For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father
had broken down, and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves,
and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.
[4] Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof
the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.
[5] And he built altars for all the host of heaven in
the two courts of the house of the LORD.

[6] And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom:
ALSO HE OBSERVED TIMES, and used enchantments, and used
witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards:
he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger

Enchantments, witchcraft, familiar spirits, and wizards, or horoscopes.
Its speaking of the occult. Not about following sabbath days.

LEV.19
[26] Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood:
neither shall ye use enchantment, (NOR OBSERVE TIMES).
[27] Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.
[28] Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
[29] Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom,
and the land become full of wickedness.

[30] (YE SHALL KEEP MY SABBATHS), and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.

You shall not observe times, BUT you shall keep my sabbaths says the Lord.

Isaiah chapter 47

[9] But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments.
[10] For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.
[11] Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know.
[12] Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail.
[13] Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.
[14] Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.
[15] Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured, even thy merchants, from thy youth: they shall wander every one to his quarter; none shall save thee.

No offense, but which is it?

I mean, on the one hand, you said that you "do not consult a horoscope" (for personal guidance, I assume), yet, on the other hand, you said "I have looked up every person I know and it is very accurate".

Seriously, just shun it altogether.

You know I don't understand the heavens...but we know they are several different heavens areas of influence...I guess? But the devil has some power in the heavens ...that's clear. I believe he uses lots of things in the heavens to deceive people...folks seeing UFOs etc... Mary floating around or whatever? I have the Book and the Holy Spirit and the Blood of Jesus... I stay away from places and things where I know the devil can deceive me... "I know the plans I have for you, sayeth the Lord" that's good enough for me :)

Remember how Satan works: truth, truth, truth, LIE!!! So Satan will give you some truth, but then will deceive you with a big LIE. I look at astrology that way.

The people was able to discern what is going to happen from the sky, but they didn't stayed up and watch for His coming, but even the Magi was able to discern of His coming and they weren't Jewish.

Matthew 16:3 and in the morning, ‘Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.

Agricultural astrology is a type of electional astrology that advises the planting, cultivating and harvesting of crops based on moon phases and astrological signs. Agricultural astrology is often referred to as "planting by the signs" because of its reliance on astrological signs for planting, cultivating and harvesting.[SUP][1][/SUP]
The Old Farmer's Almanac regularly features a "planting by the signs" section.[SUP][2]

Agricultural astrology is one of the oldest forms of astrology. It was probably the first use humans made of lunar cycles.[SUP][3][/SUP] Evidence of its practice dates back thousands of years to the ancient peoples of the Nile and Euphrates River valleys. Farmers of these civilizations planted by the Moon's phase and its sign in the zodiac.[SUP][4][/SUP] There is a lack of scientific evidence proving the beneficial effects of astrological gardening. A few studies have been conducted, but "none of this has been conclusively proven or disproved by modern science".[SUP][5] Agricultural astrology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/SUP][/SUP]

The one's I have seen in various newspapers, etc are written in very broad, generic words where most anyone, anything can be applied to it.

My horoscope today says:

"You are possessed with self-confidence today, especially if someone you trust expresses approval of your performance. Although unpredictable Uranus can set off a strike of lighting that rattles your current routine, cosmic assistance seems to arrive just in the nick of time. As long as you're willing to shift gears quickly, you should be able to make good use of the new information that arrives at your door now. Letting go of old assumptions clears the way for an exciting new direction."

This could apply to just about anyone. Some "ifs" "cans" "seems" and "shoulds"
