"Lucifer" strange name to give the master of darkness.

Maybe Lucifer is "light" to selfish souls? Because "Lucifer" supports the carnal nature.

You seem to wanting people to worship "Lucifer"

Am I wrong in this? You keep bringing "Lucifer" up.

I suppose it depends on how you interpret the Bible. Not everyone agrees that the "Lucifer" referred to in the Bible was the same fallen angel who defied God.

But for those who do believe Lucifer is the original adversary and fallen angel, "Lucifer" would've been his title as an angel before his fall.

As for the whole light/dark thing ... I heard somewhere that the Morning Star shines brightest in the dark.

Lucifer wasn't the devil, he was a king of some nation during those time, that has fallen into sin. Hollywood has corrupted our minds by teaching us that the devil's name is Lucifer and so ever since then, we'd believed that Lucifer is the devil. Like in the movie the Ten Commandments, they portrayed Moses as a Lady's man that went around spanking women on their bottoms and the ones that watched the movie believed and said , " Now that is a man of God". But Moses was a humble man, that care about his people. And so Hollywood distorted the scriptures.

The KJV and whatever other versions that call this "bright son of the dawn or morning" Lucifer is not a correct translation --- whomever it is that Isaiah 14:12 is talking about, it should not include the word "star" in it neither.

Isa 14:12 איךH349 נפלתH5307 משׁמיםH8064 היללH1966 בןH1121 שׁחרH7837 נגדעתH1438 לארץH776 חולשׁH2522 עלH5921 גוים׃H1471

H1966 hêylêl is only used this one time in the entire O.T. and it means nothing more than bright or shining ... it's not a proper name.

Somebody somewhere sometime took the liberties with that word 'heyel' and made it that name. And some have even called whomever this is "the bright and/or morning star" ... Christ's name.

Not that that scoundrel who's real name is Satan, can't come posing as an angel of light 2Co 11:14.

[h=1]Isaiah 14[/h][SUP]12[/SUP]How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

So Angels should not be of the Light?

Lucifer was supposed to be the best of the angels. Hence "Lucifer".

The story is he is banished after rebelling.

He was being sarcastic. Like we do today when someone is full of themselves. We might say, "Oh yes your mighty great one!" Followed by, "Just who do you think you are?" And then showing them the contrast between their pride and actual reality. I believe that Lucifer actually means Christ, and that because of that misunderstanding, or misinterpretation, it was passed along that Lucifer meant Satan.

But if you read it carefully you'll see that that is what Satan was calling himself, and that the other things he was saying about himself are also not true- such as he would exalt himself over God's throne (become more important and more powerful than God). It can also refer to someone acting on Satan's behalf, or like Satan. Like remember when Jesus said to Peter, "Get behind me Satan?"

But Jesus is the bright morning star (Rev 22:16) not Satan! Jesus is the illuminating light- Lucifer.

And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.Jude1:6
2 Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;

This says they are in darkness

This is simple puzzle. The Bible said about the meaning of Lucifer is "light bearer" and " morning star"(Isaiah 14:12). You are partly correct.

Lucifer was the only ANGEL in heaven who had two positions, an arcangel and a cherubin. There were Three arcangels such as Lucifer, Michael and Gabriel. Among them,Lucifer was the only "anointed", as the bible said, he was an "anointed cherub"(Ezekiel 28:14). In short Lucifer was unique and one of a kind among angels in heaven.

But all these changed when He fall. Everything turn opposite about him, from light turns into darkness. He's no longer the "Light bearer" but satan.

Some of the biggest con jobs that the devil tries to pull on people is to get them to believe that either:

(a) He does not exist.
(b) He is not called Lucifer.

Both false concepts above involves ignoring the straight forward plain meaning of Scripture as it is written today.

So don't get lost in translation. Lucifer mean "light bearer." This is a fitting description of the devil because Scripture says in,

2 Corinthians 11:14
"And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light."

In other words, Lucifer was a true light bearer. Except .... now .... he is a light bearer of deception.

In other words, if Satan can't get you to deny his existence, he will at least try to get you to deny his name that gives you insight into who he is. To put it to you another way, the less you know about your enemy, the more in danger you are.

Lucifer actually wasn't a name of a person, it was use as a description of some sort, like How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! Whom ever he was referring to, he was actually saying, "How has you fallen, My dawn, the son of the morning, you were brought down to the ground". So the person that He was referring too, He was describing this person spirit.

In Jewish culture and tradition HaSatan is actually just a metaphorical representation of the temptations and evil inclinations that if followed impede man from the tikkun olam (or 'making the world right'), while in Christianity Satan is considered an actual being. Curious.

The answer is simple. According to Wikipedia Lucifer is derived from the Latin and was most often applied to the planet Venus, meaning morning star. Venus, if you know anything about astronomy, is the brightest planet visible from Earth. It is only visible as the Sun sets or as it rises, hence is called variously the evening or the morning star. In its morning star incarnation it was given the name Phosphorus (see Lucifer) by the Greeks, and as the evening star it was called Hesperus. It would seem the ancients thought they were dealing with two different planets, or rather, gods.

“Lucifer, ( Latin: Lightbearer) Greek Phosphorus, or Eosphoros, in classical mythology, the morning star (i.e., the planet Venus at dawn); personified as a male figure bearing a torch, Lucifer had almost no legend, but in poetry he was often herald of the dawn. In Christian times Lucifer came to be regarded as the name of Satan before his fall.” (see Britannica: Lucifer)

So there you have. Lucifer was the name given Venus when in the morning it heralded the arrival of the Sun; hence the name, Lightbearer. It was later Christians who added a second layer of meaning when they decided all pagan gods were demons. It seems your fore-bearers didn’t stop believing in pagan gods, they just gave them new clothes to wear and provided them with a new agenda.

Yea there's definitely some translational issues going on, considering the many names Lucifer had from different cultures after the advent of Christianity; Lucifer, Mephistopheles, Satan, The Devil, Abadon, Beelzebub, Mammon etc etc.

Obviously, if we take this in context of Jesus himself (who was Jewish) we need to look at what Jews believed at the time. In the Torah, as above, HaSatan (Satan, Lucifer etc) wasn't considered a 'person' the way modern Christians consider him, HaSatan was actually the part of a person's nature that was adverserial to goodness.

I didn't know that about the Latin. Thanks for that.

In the Hebrew, Lucifer is called, "The light-bearer". Just as his other name, "Satan" comes from "Ha-Satan" The Adversary. Both are titles that he once bore as a servant of God, now he has corrupted them to his own purposes.

Actually, at the time of Jesus, the Jews believed the Devil was a being. Also, Scripture tells us that he is a being.
