Rest for you soul in not easy to find these days, but it is still our Promise of God!
[h=6][/h]

I heard a true story a few years back that has
always stuck with me and has been a blessing
to me every time I read Palms 23 where it says that
he leadeth me beside still waters!

I learned that the shepherds of Israel in Biblical time
do this and I heard that they still do this today!
That sheep are naturally scared of any running water,
such as a river or stream.
So the shepherds would use their staff to dam up
little pools of water, and that would calm them down
enough to come and drink!

For shepherds said that if the sheep were left alone,
even by a stream of running water or river, they would
would be to afraid to drink, and lay there and die of thirst!

That is why each time I read this verse or am out in the wilderness and see a pool of off branched clear water
I begin to cry as Gods 23rd verse runs through my mind,
He leadeth me beside still waters and restoreth my soul!

AMEN LORD JESUS, LEAD US BESIDE THOSE STILL WATERS AND RESTORE OUR SOULS TODAY!

Did someone really tell you that "story"?

These people may disagree with what you say that you "learned".......

"Sheep need plenty of water, they also prefer to drink from running water such as brooks and streams rather than still sources. Sheep also require clean water and may refuse to drink water that is covered in scum or algae."
"Sheep would rather walk up-hill than down and would rather drink running water."
So the shepherds would use their staff to dam up
little pools of water, and that would calm them down
enough to come and drink!

"Sheep don't like to drink dirty water."

For shepherds said that if the sheep were left alone,
even by a stream of running water or river, they would
would be to afraid to drink, and lay there and die of thirst!
Really?.......

.......
If that is the case you may have a disorder called PBA

"Pseudobulbar affect (PBA), emotional lability, labile affect, or emotional incontinence refers to a neurologic disorder characterized by involuntary crying or uncontrollable episodes of crying and/or laughing, or other emotional displays."

Speak truth!

I was raised on a farm in Nebraska. Our neighbor raised sheep, and I helped round them up for shearing. There was a creek flowing through the pasture, and they had no problem drinking from it.

Quote: "sheep are naturally scared of any running water"

It makes for a nice story, but I question how much fact it is actually based on.
