Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus be cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:3

I used to think that this meant that evil spirits could not say "Jesus is Lord" and that to test the evil spirits we would ask them to say "jesus is lord" but my friend was being oppressed by an evil spirit that said Jesus is Lord so now I am confused as to what the above verse means?

the words a person or a demon speaks doesn't guarantee anything.

Yahshua on Judgment day tells a multitude of people who TODAY are saying "Lord!, Lord" (Jesus is Lord) ,
"be gone from ME , I NEVER, (not ever), knew you".

Are you possibly confusing this 1 Cor 12.3 with 1 John 4.1-3?

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. [SUP]2 [/SUP]Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Always remember these 3 basic rules for interpretating scriptures:

1) Who is talking

2) What is that person talking to?

3) What is the person saying to who he/she is talking to i n the passage, just not verse.

If we apply these 3 rules to all of 1 Cor 12 and just not 1 Cor 12.3 we interpret it the following:

1) Who is talking?

The Apostle Paul

2) What is that person talking to?
The church at Corinth

3) What is the person saying to who he/she is talking to in the passage, just not a single verse.

In verse 1 Paul is telling the church at Corinth that they should not be ignorant of Spiritual gifts and I want you to understand this, the the Spirit does give us gifts for service in the Christian walk.

In verse 2 Paul is telling the church at Corinth, they were once pagans and swept away by worshiping speechless idols

In verse 3 Paul is telling them because of the things mentioned in Vs 1 & 2, you need to know that on one by the power of the Holy Spirit will curse Jesus and no one can claim Jesus is Lord by by the same Holy Spirit.

The rest of the passage or chapter 12 deals with the 9 Gifts of the Holy Spirit and then church unity using those gifts.

So with that said, it is evident these verses have little to do with testing evil spirits, as 1 John 4.1-3 is about.

You would also do well to study the historical context of the Church at Corinth, to gain knowledge about the pagan practices of that time.

This is jsut a very skim view of what it is talking about and I wil lleave the deeper things to your study.

What you state only matters on Judgement day, but for our day today words that people and evil spirits state is very important otherwise we would not find instructions regarding testing spirits and correctly discerning what people say.

I have worked in prayer lines were a demon or evil spirit manifested and it what it said, gave me discernment to know what to pray or how to take authority over it in the name of Jesus.

Likewise I have visited churches where the pastor or elder or some teacher makes a statement that sounds Biblical, but is just super spiritual idle words that are not Biblical and only designed to scratch itchy ears.

If a person has the spirit from God in them are unable to curse God, because they knows what is going on around them, they know if something bad has happen to them, it isn't for the worst, but for the best. Like Job's wife was trying to convince Job to curse God, but Job had wisdom and which it only can comes from God, and so he know whatever that was going on in his life at the time, it is all for a good purpose no matter what has happened.

I used to think some about this scripture too. And it makes no sense about just speaking the words ,like you say. I think that the word (say) (with out studying a lexicon) that (say) must represent also a doing along with just speach. ie. not every one that sayeth unto me....but he that doeth the will of my father. The passages concerning our works of the Spirit have been coming up in my reading, especialy the ones about helping those that are widows, fatherless, needy, cast down, ect.In both testaments God bears this outand makes me question what I am doing, or what am I allowing the Spirit to use me as a vessel for. I was reading lately that the modern world ,more specifically the U.S. uses about one third more recourses than others, and that the third world lacks about one third that would relieve it's suffering. Not applying all the corruption that in dominant in the whole world. I am bed riden and am limited to what I can do, but for me prayer and be in God's presents, waiting on him, is worth while and even more than worth while. As Paul said concerning the his body, that sometimes the least esteemed is most important, for example some small part , like the pancreas or even the heart it is not even seen outwardly, But is vital to the body. Despise not the day of small things or small things in general.

It has to be personalized. Demons can say Jesus is Lord, they know that. What they can't say is that Jesus is THEIR Lord. Anyone can state the obvious. It is only by the Holy Spirit that we can take ownership of it and make it ours.

The word God means the one that governs all things, even the wicked like Pharaoh; and which everyone is doing his will, even the devil is, but he doesn't even know it. Doesn't you know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And so the fruits of the wicked even produces good fruits.

Manure is organic matter used as organic fertilizer in agriculture. Manures contribute to the fertility of the soil by adding organic matterand nutrients, such as nitrogen, that are trapped by bacteria in the soil. Higher organisms then feed on the fungi and bacteria in a chain of life that comprises the soil food web. It is also a product obtained after decomposition of organic matter like cow-dung which replenishes the soil with essential elements and add humus to the soil. Gen 45:4 Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.” When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt! 5 And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you. 6 For two years now there has been famine in the land, and for the next five years there will be no plowing and reaping. 7 But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.
8 “So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God. He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt.
