I have been thinking about this a lot of late. My morning reading seems to stay on my mind most of the day and that is a good thing. I simply am not content with where I am. I love life and I love what God allows me to have and the many blessings and benefits He bestows on me daily, but it doesn't satisfy me.

I still must concern myself with carnal things, paying the utilities, making vehicle repairs, putting food on the table...those sort of things. Here is an old song that is on my mind a lot.

What Will It Be To Be There

  1. There’s a city of gold in that land far away,
    With its streets and its buildings so rare;
    With its glories untold, in its bright, golden ray,
    Oh, what will it be to be there?
    • Refrain:
      Glory, glory, hallelujah!
      While eternity prolong;
      All the saints in heaven’s kingdom
      Singing one celestial song.
  2. In the city of love, in that land far above,
    Where the saints, all immortal and fair,
    Are uniting their voices in anthems of love,
    Oh, what will it be to be there?
  3. In that city above there’s a mansion for me,
    Which my Savior has gone to prepare;
    With the angels in heaven my soul soon shall be,
    Oh, what will it be to be there?
  4. Oh, the Lamb is the light of that heavenly home,
    And they need not the sunbeams so fair;
    There the darkness and shadows of night never come,
    Oh, what will it be to be there?

Indeed, what will it be to be there?
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Now don't turn this into a suicide "yes or no" thread, because that isn't it at all. However, I am ready to go. I no longer want to live on this earth. God has something marvelous awaiting for me.
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
I have done some fun things on this earth, had some exhilarating and exciting times, loved and been loved, and had some great experiences. But God said I cannot imagine what wondrous things lie ahead. I am obedient to His word, I love Him more than anything, and I have repented. My future is secure as I sit here and there is nothing that is on this earth that draws me to it.

What will it be to be there? I can't imagine, but I can find out. "Even so, come, Lord Jesus."

We will finally all meet, won't we? Faces to our postings. I can't tell what you look like, Phil, with that cap on. But, it gives me something to look for up there - the guy with the cap. Maybe we all will be given CCR pins to wear.

I'm so tired, I must go to bed before I completely botch up your thread.

Good thoughts in your post.

Hi there!

I really appreciated how you brought out one of my favorite scriptures. Revelation 3 and 4 discussing how God will do away with death and all of the pain we see on the earth today. One thing that I learned through my study of the Bible is that verse is actually referring to the conditions God promises here on the earth. Another one of my favorite scriptures is

Psalms 37:29- "The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it."

So God doesn't promise that his faithful ones will live forever here on the earth as we know it now. It will be restored to paradise conditions as he originally created it. He furthers that promise here -

Isaiah 35: 5,6 - "At that time the eyes of the blind will be opened, And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. 6 - At that time the lame will leap like the deer, And the tongue of the speechless will shout for joy. For waters will burst forth in the wilderness, And streams in the desert plain."

I find so much comfort in these verses, and I have come to understand that this is the meaning of the prayer many of us are familiar with at Matthew 6:10 - "Let your Kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also on earth." So this prayer is asking God to bring about these wonderful heaven-like conditions here on the earth to stay.

I hope this thought encouraged you too!

I will probably get my hair back when I get there and ditch the cap...or maybe get one that says CHRISTIAN on it. ;)

What about lost souls/strengthening the brethren etc.?

Philippians 1:22-24
22 Now if I am to go on living in the body, this will mean productive work for me, yet I don’t know which I prefer:
23 I feel torn between the two, because I have a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far,
24 but it is more vital for your sake that I remain in the body.

Naw, keep the cap. I like hats.

I'd drop the chainsaw though?
We might find it a bit hard to approach you?

I didn't say I'm leaving now. Like Paul, I desire to be there and God can take me any time He is ready.

Small correction about one of your bible quotes:

1 Corinthians 2:9-10 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. (10) But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

I agree though...I hate this place. Not the people, but the way of this world. Everything tainted. Nothing satisfying.

You don't totally understand that passage. Mankind does not know that God has anything prepared for them. They, as a general statement, reject Him and are not aware of what the next life holds. However, those that believe do indeed understand that He has something for us. We believe and trust His word. The revelation you included is simply that knowledge. We do not know what exactly those things are, nor will we know until we get there.

In simple terms, He has revealed to believers that we have rewards waiting. What those rewards are specifically we do not know.

I was just making sure it was quoted in full as I used to just leave it at the part you quoted as though nobody knows what God has prepared for those that love Him but the scripture goes on to say that certain people do know. I see that you are aware of that but someone reading may not.
