Christ overcame sin and death on the cross....a believer has to put to death the lust of the flesh(by not sinning) and live in obedience to Christ...you seem totally confused.....Christ is the end of the law to them that believe....that is those who believe and obey the truth....it is they who are not under the law....disobedience to Christ puts you back under the law...Rom 6:16
God gives us power over sin....clearly the power to sin or not to sin is in our hands...Rom 6:14
and scripture is saying in vs 16 what you do with that power determines your outcome...
The law is not an issue to the obedient it is an issue to the disobedient it has power over the disobedient...but none over the obedient....so the law has no strength over you if you do not sin...so what strength are you going on about.???
Romans 6:13-16King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Right you must through the law, die to the law and the strength of sin...You cannot walk in the Spirit and be under the law...you cannot be righteous in Christ and be a sinner in the world. All those under the law are slaves to sin...that's what the bible teaches in plain and evident words.

James does not say that John does...He is talking to the double minded...half grace -half law and James points to grace and the Spirit as the solution to sin just like Paul...not the law of Moses.

Jas 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

[SUP]13 [/SUP]Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
[SUP]14 [/SUP]But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

Romans 6:1
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

We must obey the word of God....which you seem to be implying.. if we do ...we are following the law...

1. THE HOLY SPIRIT KNOWS US IN OUR WEAKNESS

The Holy Spirit not only knows us, but he helps us in our weakness (Rom. 8:26). He helps us do things that we cannot do in our own strength. If it glorifies Jesus and is about his people and the church, the Holy Spirit wants us to be about that, and he will work in and through our weakness.
2. THE HOLY SPIRIT TEACHES US

The Holy Spirit works through Scripture and people to change our hearts (John 14:26; Rom. 8:14; 1 Cor. 2:6–14). When we struggle with a passage of the Bible, the Holy Spirit will teach us what it means and how it can be applied in our lives. Oftentimes, that teaching comes through people via a pastor’s sermon (Rom. 10:14–16), a close friend, or our spouse.
3. THE HOLY SPIRIT WORKS THROUGH PRAYER

The Holy Spirit will intercede for us through prayer (Rom. 8:26). He will especially intercede when we’re focused on glorifying Christ and loving his people. If you don’t know what to pray, ask the Holy Spirit for help. After all, he is “the Helper” who will help those who love him. Oftentimes, God uses our prayers to change our hearts more than the hearts of others, to conform us to be more like him.
4. THE HOLY SPIRIT REVEALS JESUS’ PURPOSE FOR US

God gives good gifts. He gave us Jesus, who died on the cross for our sins. He gave us the Holy Spirit. He also gave us instruction in the Bible for living this life (2 Tim. 3:16–17).
I believe 95 percent of our life’s purpose is readily found in the Bible. The purpose of our life is to glorify Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit and to love people. The Holy Spirit will reveal the finer details of our purpose, such as where we will work, whom we will marry, and where we will live, as we study the Bible and walk in faith.
5. THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTS US OF SIN

John 15:8–11 teaches us that the Holy Spirit convicts us of sin to conform us to Jesus’ likeness. As we lean more on the Holy Spirit, sin becomes more apparent in our lives (Gal. 5:16, 18). This allows us to repent and seek change in Christ so that we can become more like Jesus.

If you’re a believer, the Holy Spirit lives in you. Open yourself up to the power of the Holy Spirit. He’s a good friend, and I don’t know what I would do without him. Jesus calls him the Helper for good reason. It’s certainly to our advantage that he is in our lives, but ultimately to glorify Jesus was why he was sent to us (John 15:26-27).

James is very clear one cannot sin in Christ.....now I am convinced that you do not understand scripture...

so James points to grace and the Spirit...

Your quoting John....not James...post where James uses those words...because John uses those exact words...Not James!

And Love alone fulfills the law and love does not come by the "letter" but through grace and the Spirit...also known as the Spirit of Grace.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

All scripture was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God. Every time therefore, the scriptures tell us to forsake sin or keep the commandments of God, this is the testimony and therefore conviction of the Holy Spirit of God which inspired the same in the first place. Every admonishment from scripture to not sin or keep God's commandments comes to us directly from the Holy Spirit of God. How say you, the Holy Spirit does not convict of sin?

Its really sad the Holy Spirit has been turned into the accuser which is what (satan) means...No where in the bible does it teach that the Holy Spirit convicts a BELIEVER of sin...but the world of sin, because they do not believe and the believer of righteousness.

This doctrine has tuned the comforter into the accuser .. it is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Heb 10:15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

Isaiah 4:4 The Lord will wash away the filth of the women of Zion; he will cleanse the bloodstains from Jerusalem by a spirit of judgment and a spirit of fire.

Some people doesn't know that they are doing things that they aren't suppose to be doing, and so the Spirit comes and put it in your heart what you are doing is not right or if you are doing right, the Spirit will let you know, and that is a judgment.

Nobody read it the first time? Because all it does its takes the truth and twist it with the words of men. Post the scriptures and let them speak...find a bible verse that says the Holy Spirit convicts a believer of sin...because I can show about a dozen that says the exact opposite thing.

Well you seem to have part of the truth...But the bible clearly defines what the Spirit witness to the believer...and its not sin or judgment...its righteousness . You guys have your ideas that was formed from false doctrine and false teaching....believe the bible!

Right so when scripture tells us the law is not of faith and is the strength of sin...why dont you believe it? When the scriptures tells us the Holy Spirits witness to us...why don't you believe it?

Ro 7:6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
7 ¶ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

why don't you believe the bible?

so explain now how does one through the law die to the law...(no let me)...the only way that can be done is in Christ through baptism signifying your death and resurrection so now you are become dead in Christ and resurrected in him...so one must remain in Christ to be free from the law...in order to remain in Christ one must abstain from sin ...there can be no sin in Christ...so if one is drawn away and sins it means they obeyed the flesh and disobeyed Christ...that results in separation and by reason of that separation you have put yourself back under the law of sin and death....that is not rocket science...if you remain there you will perish...but thank God we have an advocate in Jesus Christ.....let us not take him for granted...

Like I said your still under the law and blind to the truth of the gospel.

2Co 3:13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

All the scriptures you have posted do not say the opposite.
You trying to read to much into them is what makes them say the opposite to you. I as well as others have shown many times how if you as a believer in Christ sin, will chastise you. Which means He will correct you, harshly if needs be, depending on the sin committed. Believers do not miraculously go from being in sin to being sin free as you try and make it out to be. Some sins for people take longer to put away and stop walking in then others, and the Holy Spirit was sent here to help and correct us in those areas.
The scripture you constantly try to use about sin not being imputed on a believer is talking about after they have already been repented or confessed of receiving the remission by the Lord's blood. Only after then are they no longer imputed on you ever again. The Holy Spirit will eventually mold a person to have control over all sins, so that they do not have control over you. To say this is impossible is to deny the Holy Spirit's guidance and the Lords words that through Him all things are possible.

If I was doing something wrong that I had thought that it was right, the Spirit comes and make the final decision and tell me to repent; and which that is being convicted of doing wrong; and so I should put on sackcloth and cover myself in ashes and roll in the dirt in shame, and do not be making judgment on others; and I should stay in that state of mind until I has been washed.

what does this mean to you?? Can a man in Christ say he is tempted???no.. he must first be drawn away from Christ..even this simple truth you cannot understand...and will not accept... .?[SUP]
13 [/SUP]Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
[SUP]14 [/SUP]But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

I already explained it a few post ago ...go back and read it.

So whats your point Kenneth? The fact is that the doctrine that the Holy Spirit convicts a believer of sin...is false doctrine and a work of satan.

pick apart what I posted and prove I am still under the law and blind to the truth...don't just say it prove it by refuting the words I posted...

This is your understanding...but real Christians read and trust the bible , not what folks think it says but what it really says. Any religion could make the claim your making...don't mean its the truth of the gospel.

a BELIEVER under the law is in wilfull sin ...this is the warning of the scriptures. The strength of sin is the law...the law is not of faith....whatsoever is not of faith is sin. This is where a believer endangers their soul. Every legalist I have ever seen was in a condition of sin...they could not see because they was blind to their own hypocrisy. Its the same on this forum ...all those who are legalist on this forum are in some sin they will not admit because of hypocrisy.

what is funny is you are the one putting everyone else under the law....
