Would you agree that if a Christian attempted to leave God as Jonah did, saying, "Good riddin's!" and never attempted to come back, but lived the rest of their life doing whatever evil came to their mind, that they would still be saved? And I'm not talking about if someone must not have been saved in the first place, but those that you agree we're actually saved. If, if, if this WERE the case, would they still be saved?

????
Sorry Kaycie, but how are we to ever know who was "once truly saved" and then "left"?
What I honestly want to understand is how one can possibly know this about someone?
I ask in a very serious manner....

Not to denigrate your thread but this particular subject breeds contention here. Sit back and you'll see what I mean.

I dont believe in osas for several reasons for starters even if a person was truly saved to begin with do u realize how easy it is for the heart to become corrupt? how easy it is to be enticed by worldy things? How easy it is to be misled?why do u think you see so many ppl claiming to be Christians yet have no idea who God really is and have no love in their hearts? at lest 40% of such ppl started out with geniune faith.

I was talking with a child hood friend of mine i call her bandi she said how she thinks it doesnt take much to be a Christian she said you dont even have to be a good Christian as long as you pray read the bible and go to church. this is the standard many have on faith but its not a hobby god doesnt want half your heart he wants it all. Faith is something where you give it your all or its better you dont go at all because giving some or half creates lukewarm christians and we know how jesus despizes luke warm dont we?

If a person removes their faith from the cross and persist, yet it's not easy and the life is wretched, Because Jesus will leave the 99 and go after the one. But if you persist you can lose your salvation. Many will say I have danced for you Lord and He will say depart from you worker of iniquity for I never knew you.

Neither. . .I'm serious.

My response contains the same incongruity as does hers.

As a circle, by definition, cannot be a square,
so a born again, by definition, cannot be unborn.

Well, to the OP.. this situation is really unlikely. A person who has been saved, given eternal life.. has the Holy Spirit dwelling in their soul, their spirit. This means.. when they do as you say.. and go wayward after having received eternal life.. they will be CONVICTED, and REBUKED for their behaviour.

Of course, they have free will to live as they will, but how would that go with the Holy Spirit continually convicting and rebuking them?

This is a possible situation though.. and a saved person who goes on to be ungodly, well they will miss out on rewards in heaven. But the place in heaven is set once they have been given ETERNAL life.

John 3:16, 5:24, Romans 10, 1 Peter 1:3-4, among many other verses are about this.

Jesus keeps someone saved.. by His indwelling. It's not the believers faith that keeps them saved.. because that goes up and down due to the human condition (sin).

But I will say, the situation the OP is speaking of.. is very unlikely.. given that at salvation.. the person is receiving Jesus Christ as their Saviour.. who then afterwards.. will teach, admonish, rebuke and empower this person.

My Spirit will not contend with man forever. There comes a time a time that tug no longer comes.

Remind me not to play scrabble with you.
Incongruity is a word.

I dont think this can be answered as you can have good arguments on both sides. i believe you can be saved, then a year later reject our Lord and choose to follow osirus or something and lose your salvation. but I also believe that once one crosses the line of salvation their heart will never reject our Lord.

The born again (saved) do not become unborn (unsaved), either in the natural world or the supernatural world.
