I know so many people who prefer the KJV over any other version. Some say the KJV is the real version and the real true word of God and I heard there's some Christians who only believe in reading the only KJV and so forth. I personally have a way of believe this because I have read the NLT or NIV and found many contradictions. So, perhaps I should read the KJV. I am confused though.

No bible version will be completely 100% accurate. I think its pretty bad to only stick to one version. I'm in the process of comparing bible versions now. Its good to compare them. Especially when looking over a verse for example, see how other versions say this same verse. Also you don't have to be a professional or an expert but when reading/studying the bible its good to kind of get a good idea of the original Greek as well.

I grew up with the KJV and the NKJV. I was told to stay away from the NIV or that other versions were not 'acceptable' enough. But that is so far from the truth.

The arguement saying the kjv is the true word of God is based on the saying that it is the original text and wording so is not corrupted by modern day language. however the kjv is not the origial text and wording only the hebrew language from the scrolls and the jewish language holds it.

We have the Greek text...and a good understanding of them. They are and should be the foundation...now having said that and some years of study in the biblical Greek...I find the KJV is the best translation in most respects....I think part of that is because its is what I have done most of studies from and I have become aware of when and how the words are used and translated from the Greek... I find some of the other translations have places where they seem a little more readable but they really miss on other truths... I say if you want to be a real bible student , it takes some digging into the original text and even some knowledge of the times in which these things where written. :)

For example something that is misleading in the KJV is 1 Timothy 6:10. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

The love of money is sin yes, but you can not say that money is the root of absolutely every bit of evil. Not in the garden (Eden), money was not the cause of that evil.

In the NIV 1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
This is a better translation.

This is the most correct statement from the ones listed so far, however, there is more to it than just it being the KJV being the last authorized version, in that it also happens to have had the proper names removed and replaced with titles as well as replacing the name of the Son of Elohim with the name of a Greek elohim while translating from Hebrew to Greek from what I understand...

The New Testament was written in Greek...not translated from the Hebrew! Any biblical scholar would tell you that just silly to try and make that claim!

I love the KJV, but if a person really wants to know God, then God can teach them through other versions as well.
I do believe God inspired the wording used, and no doubt the KJV is blessed, but I am not saying anything about the other versions except that I do not prefer them over KJV. That is my opinion and aquired taste.

Agreed. This is why I always recommend more than one translation, a set of maps, a cross reference, a dictionary and a concordance.

Yes stick with the KJV.

And read and study it only. And make sure you BELEIVE IT.

For it is the inerrant, infallible, and perfect word of God.

Come on with that "inerrant, infallible, and perfect word of God" when did it become that? Its been changed many times through the years! or do you only read the original translation which was loaded with errors including "thou shall commit adultery" for which it got the name "the devils bible" by the Puritains.

YEs God waited unti;l 1618(or whenever) to finally print His Word. No the whole kjv-only thing is nothing but a cult. Can you read it? Sure it is a fine bible. But be wary of those like Chosen who worship the version more than the author.

Exactly. I may use the KJV as a baseline, but by reading multiple translations with it you can get a better overall picture of what's being discussed. And yes you want reference materials too, like concordances and a Strong's.

Hope not ... the KJV has several errors, misunderstandings, etc. as do the other translations.

Note: some Greek words have up to 40 different possible meanings, depending on the context.

News Flash ... human translators are human, and they make mistakes!

The original manuscripts are error-free, but dey has to be translated into da English for us.

Thank God that we learn by the Holy Spirit teaching us...although the Holy Spirit can teach us through others as God allows. I personally enjoy reading The Bible without any other material besides maybe something like blueletterbible.org

Again...that's my aquired taste, and not saying it's impossible for God to teach in various ways.
I would suspect that some learn better visually...some through reading...hearing audio...etc.

Jesus taught in all those ways.

I use the King Jimmy, but study every word from the Hebrew and the Greek which gives me a better understanding than just reading the English......I also like the NASV and sometimes will even look in the Amplified version.....but like I said...I will study all verbs, nouns etc. from the original languages so as to get a better, more complete understanding of what the words actually meant to a Hebrew and a Common Greek speaking 1st century person.....!

I also use a Tanach as well for the O.T. so as to see how the Jews translate certain words....!

The objective is to be reading the most accurate Greek to English and Hebrew to English translation. I prefer the KJV because it can be easily cross referenced with the Strong's Concordance, where you can check original meanings. Its also notable that some verses were eliminated altogether in some of the newer versions.

The KJV was translated from the Hebrew Masoretic text and the Greek Textus Receptus, which I believe are more reliable than the fourth-century codices Vaticanus and Sinaiticus, of which Westcott and Hort based their modern translations (Alexandrian text).

I used to be pretty King James only-ish. I never looked into it much and only heard one side of the debate. I will say I still read my King James and a little ESV and I definitely like to compare the two.

People phrase things in such a way to make it appear that modern translations "removed" portions of scripture. It isn't that simple. In order to see it as a removal you have to first suppose that the King James is the only good translation and that any differences are therefore "changes" and "corruptions."

Some questions to ask:
-Of all the translations, what makes the King James(1611 or older) so special? Why that time in history? As others have asked, did nobody prior to 1611 have the true scriptures?
-Did the translators of the King James (1611 and otherwise) feel the same about their translation as KJV onlyists do?

The King James is fine and totally readable but there have been many passages that I misunderstood due to the old english wording that caused me some trouble for sure. Also one issue I found was the translation problems with hell/gehenna/the lake of fire/hades which lead me to some bad doctrine.

You picked two of the most liberal versions to compare it to, lol.
Try an ESV, NASB, AMP, HCSB, etc.
NASB is the strongest in terms of word-for-word literal translation, but often uses the Masoretic text rather than the Septuagint. Seeing as Jesus and the Apostles always quote from the Septuagint rendering, I like translations that use it as the OT source text.

KJV is a solid translation, but is easily misunderstood by modern English readers,
and easily twisted by modern heretics (the flowery language gives them an air of spiritual authority, and gives the audience a dose of confusion that is easily exploitable).
