In the past I have always taken the bible and everything in said literally. It was really causing much more of a chaotic mess in my life then helping at all. My mom tells me not to take it so serious and that I should understand that a lot of the sayings are figurative. The bible to be honest really confuses me and I seriously can't get much into it anymore. Not that I am against it but, I personally can't get into it much anymore. I get a bad message from it. I also feel condemned at times when I read it. I need a lot of help! I am in a big spiritual battle and I am very confused. I have an interest in all religions and I have read a lot about Buddhism, I read book of mormon, the Quran, about hindu, Rastafarian, Jehovah witness, Paganism, Spiritualism. So many religions. Perhaps, this triggered my confusion. I just can't explain why I am so interested in other cultures and religions.

Discipleship is needed.
You need to find a local body of Believers that are firm in the Word, and then submit yourself to their instruction.
You are trying to understand a spiritual Book as if it is an earthly novel.
There is a literal element to it, but understanding comes from the Spirit, not the mind.
To the person who does not have the Spirit, the Bible is foolishness to them, < and that is Scripture.

Unlike an earthly novel, you need to start this book where YOU are at, not simply on page one.
As a Gentile, you should start with Romans and John, and then work through Ephesians and the Corinthian letters.
You will likely not understand the OT or James or Hebrews or Galatians or Matthew, until you have been given the seal of the Spirit through belief in Christ.

Get a solid understanding of who Christ is and what He did, and then understand your position in regard to Christ,
and then submit to it in Faith. Understanding the big picture is not possible without understanding the practical.
Do well in the little thing, and you will be given the larger.

The bible did it it's job then. You are a sinner and you should feel condemned. Now you just need to get saved and be delivered from the guilt and condemnation.

That's why he needs John and Romans,
To know the Way to escape the condemnation he feels.

Brother can I make a suggestion? I don't say this because I am a "know it all Christian" but a little bit ago I started a forum here entitled "the attributes of God" have read through it. This is a study of who God is. It might be a good place to start. Unless we have just a little bit of understanding of who God is the Bible can be a bit hard to understand. Another suggestion would be to read through "John". Then after you read through ask questions. There are no dumb questions only those not asked.

Shoot even send me 100 PM's so we can answer your questions together. If I cannot answer a question then I sure will find the answer.

My mind is open to you for anything to ask so please take this offer and run with it as I'm willing to run with you.

I will completely honest about my beliefs but I won't pressure you to believe what I believe unless it is a major doctrine in the true church of Christ.

Brother I beg that you take advantage of my offer.

God bless you and I hope to receive a message from you.

Read the Bible in all your spare time...make more spare time to read the Bible...ask God to do the following ss I have, and you will not be dissappointed.
God, give me as much wisdom, knowlege, and understanding as is possible without contradicting a word you have spoken. I already prayed that a bunch...and I was not dissappointed.
Ask and you will recieve...seek and you will find...knock and the door shall be opened.

After you have read the NT a few times...then you will realize that thwre is nothing more needful than to sit at Jesus feet and hear His word.

I actually feel the total opposite to how you feel. The bible to me is like food for my soul. If I don't understand something, research it and find out what it means. It is good to have a mentor and friends that will guide you.
The word of God is interesting but I see what you mean can be intense at times although don't be so hard on yourself.
There is not one person that I know that knows every single thing about the bible.
Quite the contrary really. One step at a time.
