In the past I have always taken the bible and everything in said literally. It was really causing much more of a chaotic mess in my life then helping at all. My mom tells me not to take it so serious and that I should understand that a lot of the sayings are figurative. The bible to be honest really confuses me and I seriously can't get much into it anymore. Not that I am against it but, I personally can't get into it much anymore. I get a bad message from it. I also feel condemned at times when I read it. I need a lot of help! I am in a big spiritual battle and I am very confused. I have an interest in all religions and I have read a lot about Buddhism, I read book of mormon, the Quran, about hindu, Rastafarian, Jehovah witness, Paganism, Spiritualism. So many religions. Perhaps, this triggered my confusion. I just can't explain why I am so interested in other cultures and religions.
Discipleship is needed.
You need to find a local body of Believers that are firm in the Word, and then submit yourself to their instruction.
You are trying to understand a spiritual Book as if it is an earthly novel.
There is a literal element to it, but understanding comes from the Spirit, not the mind.
To the person who does not have the Spirit, the Bible is foolishness to them, < and that is Scripture.
Unlike an earthly novel, you need to start this book where YOU are at, not simply on page one.
As a Gentile, you should start with Romans and John, and then work through Ephesians and the Corinthian letters.
You will likely not understand the OT or James or Hebrews or Galatians or Matthew, until you have been given the seal of the Spirit through belief in Christ.
Get a solid understanding of who Christ is and what He did, and then understand your position in regard to Christ,
and then submit to it in Faith. Understanding the big picture is not possible without understanding the practical.
Do well in the little thing, and you will be given the larger.
