Many believe the 42 months mentioned in Revelation should be taken literally, like a literal 3 and a half year tribulation period. But I believe the 42 months is a sign (symbolism) of time which should be spiritually discerned.

Let’s look at why this 42 months, or 1,260 days is not a literal 3 and half years, but is rather symbolic of time. In Revelation 12:5-6 we read “
[SUP]5 [/SUP]And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

[SUP]6 [/SUP]And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.” (1,260 days or 42 months)

Most would agree this verse is speaking about the birth of Jesus Christ, and his being caught up to God, and the woman being the sign of the spiritual Israel, because these are those who “ have the testimony of Jesus Christ” as seen in Rev. 12:17.

But no matter who you believe the woman represents, the timing of when she fled into the wilderness is shown to be right after the “man-child” Jesus was caught up to God and to His throne.”

This time is confirmed again here in
Revelation 12:14 “And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, times, and half a time and, from the face of the serpent.” So now we have this same 1,260 days also shown as “time, times, and half a time” which is also mentioned in the book of Daniel 12:7.

This prophecy given to Daniel had to do with a “time of trouble such as the world has never seen” (Daniel 12:1) Which Jesus also mentioned in
Matthew 24:21 concerning the great tribulation following right after the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 ad. And this time period would run all the way to the redemption of Gods people as Daniel was also told in Daniel chapter 12… “at that time thy people shall be delivered, everyone that shall be found written in the book of Life.”

And then there is mention of the resurrection as mentioned here in Daniel 12:2 “
[SUP]2 [/SUP]And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.”

Then this time is confirmed in Daniel 12:7 “
[SUP]7 [/SUP]And I heard the man clothed in linen, which was upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that it shall be for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall be finished.”

So according to the word of the Lord, all those things mentioned to Daniel shall be finished in that same time period.

Now let’s look at how this time period is also shown as the same amount of time given to the fullness of the Gentiles.
Jesus spoke of “after the tribulation of those days” in accordance with the tribulation period of the Jews as it also relates the fullness of the Gentiles. (“that all things which are written may be fulfilled” Luke 21:22)

In
Luke 21:24 Jesus says “ And they(Jews) shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.”

So how long was the times of the Gentiles? Well, were given that time as well in scripture.

Revelation 11:2 “But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

This confirms the Gentile ingathering period, the tribulation of those days, and all those things being fulfilled as listed in the book of Daniel could not possibly be a literal 42 months, or 1,260 days, but rather it is a sign of time.

We also know by Paul’s words that this time of the Gentiles being fulfilled would be marked by ungodliness being removed from Jacob.

Romans 11:25 “For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.”

And finally one more confirmation that this 1,260 days is symbolic is found in Daniel 12:10-13 “Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

[SUP]11 [/SUP]And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. (1,290 days)
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.(1,335 days)
[SUP]13 [/SUP]But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days.

We know by Jesus’ words, scripture, and history when the abomination of desolation was set up, and when Jerusalem was destroyed in 70 ad. And by these verses above, and the numbers of days given to the end above, that the 42 months, or 1,260 days cannot possibly be a literal amount of time, but rather symbolic.

Be not deceived.

The 42 months is literal. It is not the duration of all the tribulations, but is the duration of that abomination.

Proving the 7 year tribulation doctrine is false.
It’s true that Daniel’s 70th week will last seven years (Dan. 9:24-27). Seventy (70) weeks of years were determined for the people of Israel (70×7=490 years), beginning from the command to rebuild Jerusalem, which was destroyed by the Babylonians, until the anointing of the Most Holy (Christ). However, Christ was cut off (crucified) after only 69 weeks (483 yrs), which left the 70th week or final seven years remaining to be fulfilled before He returns. These are what many say are the final seven years the world will witness just before the second coming of Christ, when the King of kings and Lord of lords returns with His saints to rule and reign on the earth for 1000 years, which is commonly known as the millennial Reign of Christ.

Now, since we know that Christ was, in fact, cut off after 69 weeks (483 yrs) according to Scripture, we also know that Daniel’s 70th week (final 7 yrs) must also be fulfilled. These final seven years must be fulfilled according to scripture; however, the same cannot be said of the so-called seven year tribulation. Although these two terms are commonly used interchangeably, they are not and cannot be the same thing. Just as there is no mention of a seven year tribulation anywhere in God’s word. There is simply no such thing. Now let me tell you why I believe this, then I’ll provide the scripture to support my claim.

There are two glaring contrasts here. The days of tribulation actually begin in the middle of Daniel’s 70th week (7 years), after the abomination of desolation, according to Scripture and most scholars agree. But not only does the tribulation begin at the mid-point of the final seven years, but scripture also tells us that the days of tribulation are cut short for the sake of the elect. Daniel’s 70th week (7 yrs), on the other hand, cannot be cut short at all, unless, of course, the prophet Daniel gave us a false prophecy, which is not even remotely possible. We know that Daniel could not have been a false prophet, because Christ, Himself, points back to Daniel’s prophecy in Matthew 24 and Mark 13.

Daniel 9:24-26
Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy. [25] So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress. [26]
Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.

In the passage above we see (7) sevens [49 yrs.], then another (62) sevens [434 yrs.], which equal 69 weeks or 483 years and then Christ was cut off, which leaves the final week or seven years, which is commonly known as Daniel’s 70th week remaining (see passage below). Also notice the abomination of desolation begins at the mid-point or middle of the final seven years.

Daniel 9:27
He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consumption, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Here’s more about the abomination of desolation in the passages below.

Daniel 11:31
And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate.

Now lets take a look at the abomination of desolation, along with the time remaining to the end:

Daniel 12:11-12
And from the time that the daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]
Blessed is he who waits, and comes to the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days.

Now here’s the kicker. From the passage of Scripture above, we can understand that Daniel’s 70th week will not be shortened at all. From the abomination of desolation in the middle of the seven years, we see not only the allotted 1260 days, 42 months and/or 3 1/2 years, but we also see an extension of 30 days (1290), with another addition of 45 days (1335) as well. Scripture is not clear as to what will happen during these two extensions, but it should be as plain as day that the days of Daniel’s 70th week will not and cannot be shortened at all, and that the end must come at the time appointed. However, the same cannot be said of the tribulation, which proves that the two are as different as night and day. Now let’s take a look at what the Bible has to say about the tribulation.

Matthew 24:14-22 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
[SUP]15[/SUP]When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand.) [SUP]16[/SUP]Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: [SUP]17[/SUP]Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: [SUP]18[/SUP]Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. [SUP]19[/SUP]And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! [SUP]20[/SUP]But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: [SUP]21[/SUP]For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. [SUP]22[/SUP]
And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

In the passage above, Christ, Himself, is telling us that the tribulation will begin after the abomination of desolation occurs, at the mid-point of Daniel’s 70th week of seven years, just as Daniel said it would. It shows the same exact starting point, but there is something here that is also very different. The days of tribulation will be shortened for the sake of the elect, otherwise no flesh would be saved. This creates another problem for scholars assuming the tribulation is seven years in duration. And not only are the days shortened, but Christ also tells us that no one knows when the days of tribulation will be shortened, not Christ, nor the angels, but only His Father in heaven knows.

Two things are certain. The tribulation is not a seven year period of time and Daniel’s 70th week, which cannot be shortened. Furthermore, there is absolutely no mention anywhere in Scripture of a tribulation occurring before the abomination of desolation.

A little more study into what I wrote in the OP should resolve that error.
What you wrote is wrong. What the prophets wrote and what Jesus spoke of is correct. The duration of the abomination is clear throughout scriptures at 42 months, 3.5 years, or 1,290 days.

I don't deny the scriptures or the time, but it is symbolic of time. Pay attention, the tribulation does not even start till after the abomination of desolation is set up, read the above posts.

Daniel 9:2 sets forth there is to be 70 years of Babylonian Captivity and that it was about to be fulfilled..
Verse 24-->God is yet to deal with Israel for another 70 weeks (490 years) 70 times 7
Verse 25-->From command to restore and rebuild Jerusalem unto the Messiah which is to be 69 weeks (483) years
This was fulfilled at the Baptism and recognition of Jesus by the Father
To understand the (62) weeks of verse 26 you must study Ezra and Nehemiah
There is a period of about 52.5 years between the First Command and the Completion in verse 26
After the 483 years and Jesus identified as the Messiah by John at Jesus' Baptism
434 years after the rebuilding of the Temple the Messiah shall be cut off (Crucifixion)
The people of the prince that shall come (Titus) destroyed Jerusalem in 70 A.D.
The 490 years (70 weeks) were put on hold (if you will) after the 486 years which leaves 1290 days left to complete the 490 years

NOTE ABOVE 434+52.5=486.5<-----3.5 years left to wrath when it starts with the opening of the 1st seal! Israel goes by a 360 day year and adds a 13 month every few years to make up the discrepancy between the Jewish and Roman calendars.

The 42 months in Revelation, and the 1,260 days "time, times, and a half" all speak of the Gentile ingathering period, as well as the "tribulation of those days" (Jews tribulation period)

We know when the Gentile period began (at Pentecost) but that time of 42 months (which is symbolic) shall not be finished until the fullness of the Gentiles comes in, which I believe is marked by the 6th seal sign.

Notice what the Lord said would happen "after the tribulation of those days"= fullness of Gentiles.

Matthew 24:29
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

Mark 13:24-25
But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,[SUP]25 [/SUP]And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.

Luke 21:24-26[SUP]24 [/SUP]And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
[SUP]25 [/SUP]And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
[SUP]26 [/SUP]Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

This is the 6th seal sign that shall signify the end of the 42 months sign of time, and the fullness of the Gentile period, and shall also begin the tribulation, or wrath of the Lamb upon the world.

Nothing is literal in the revelation.

42 monthes is exact period of the Antichrists global rule (over whole the civilized world).
False prophet (fake Elijah) will perform really (NOT LITTERALLY) murderous miracles including the dowing the fire upon humans.

Last christians will really (not literally) fly turning themselves into eagles (as revelation predicts and as real Elijah prophet will do).

Real infernal creaturs will walk upon earth.

The plagues explained are also the real - NOT LITERAL.

In real christianity everything is REAL (not literal), Real christians accept real flesh and blood of Jesus in Sacraments (DNA-code in the informative view in the communion).

While the fake christians (who does not have sacraments in their pseudo-christian practice) claim the words of the Lord (about salvation only through eating His body and drinking His blood), also claim most of the part of New Nestament to be literal (not real).

In true everything is real in the genuine Chrisianity!!!! (there are no literal places in the revelation).

.. I believe the 42 months is a sign (symbolism) of time which should be spiritually discerned.

So this is the reason why so much of your interpretation of prophetic truth is nonsense! :p

A word in your ear, try interpreting it literally!

That is what the carnally minded (natural) man does, because that is all he knows how to do.

1 Corinthians 2:14[SUP]14 [/SUP]But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

But we who are born from above by God are taught by the Holy Spirit, and we compare spiritual things, with spiritual.

1 Corinthians 2:13
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. :)

Hosea 6:2
After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.

John 2:19
Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

1 Corinthians 12:27 "Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular."

Revelation 11:11
And after three days and an half the spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign. :)

We see in Matthew 1:17 “So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.”

There were 3 sets of 14 generation periods from Abraham to Jesus, or 3x14=42 (sign of time) This can also be shown like 7 priests x 6 rotations= 42 (Joshua 6: 13-14)

This sign of time was also shown in 3 men who would slay a third part in
1 Kings 19:17 “And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay. (3 men slaying with sword)

Also notice the numbers shown as a sign of time 2 Kings 10:13-14 “Jehu met with the brethren of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said, Who are ye? And they answered, We are the brethren of Ahaziah; and we go down to salute the children of the king and the children of the queen.
[SUP]14 [/SUP]And he said, Take them alive. And they took them alive, and slew them at the pit of the shearing house, even two and forty men; neither left he any of them.

And then Elisha’s 42 in 2 Kings 2:24 “
And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.”

This slaying of third parts is also shown in
Revelation 9:15 “And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men.

It is symbolic but the number is not 42, it is 40 and 2.. 40 is the number for testing and 2 is the number for the times of the Gentiles... That 40 and 2 months has been going on for the last 2000.

It's 42, but there is a pattern in the numbers which many don't see. For instance, we are given 3 main numbers in Daniel and in Revelation. The numbers are 1,260+1,290+1335=3885 total. Divide that 3885 by 5=777

This pattern can be shown in many other numbers given in scripture, but hard to be discerned.
