Matthew 12:36 gives Jesus stating for us today, "I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement."

Proverbs 10:19 specifies for all verbose people, "In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin; but he that refrainethhis lips is wise."

As a positive tutorial instruction for those who think being silly and light is part of having new life in Christ, Titus quotes God by saying in Ch. 2 "Young Men, Old Men, Older Women, and Young Women" are to be "sober."

Jesus spoke concisely, to the point, and remained germaine to the intentions of The Father. Jesus never asked how anyone's day was going, never asked how anyone "felt," never made upbeat little excuses for anyone's little personality quirks, and never tried to fill in blank spots in a conversation with light little observations.

For those who think they "Have The Mind of Christ," here is Proverbs 29:11 (KJV) as a test to see if they actually do: "A fool uttereth all his mind."

Just want to clraify the original word here, as I personally, that is IMO think careless/unprofitable is a better translation

that's almost funny......................given the OP............BTW: what exactly is your definition of "chatted?"

See, to me, chatted simply means a friendly conversation among brothers and sisters........rumor spreading may be what you are trying to say?

chat, chatting:

intr.v.

  • To converse in an easy, familiar manner; talk lightly and casually.

(Did Jesus speak to His disciples in such a manner sometimes?)

  • To participate in a synchronous exchange of remarks with one or more people over a computer network.

No computers then, so that's an easy one

n. noun

  • An informal, light conversation.

    Maybe? Dunno, could have

  • A synchronous exchange of remarks over a computer network.

(see above re: computer usage back then)

  • Any of various birds in the families Muscicapidae or Parulidae that have a chattering call, especially the yellow-breasted chat.

it's strange to hear one who steadfastly affirms that they do not have the mind of Christ turn right around and stand in the place of an instructor about the thoughts of Christ.

I doubt he was as boring as you make him out to be. Nor do you even have proof for your assertions of: ' Jesus never asked how anyone's day was going, never asked how anyone "felt," never made upbeat little excuses for anyone's little personality quirks, and never tried to fill in blank spots in a conversation with light little observations.'

Yes, and thank you. The expanded review well supports the original OP.

Go ahead and start chatting about all of the evidence in Scripture to show the OP is correct. And remember, I said nothing about Jesus being boring. Anyone with His Spirit or "mind" will easily assert Jesus was the most dynamic and compelling person in the history of mankind.

Lol. This is fun.

I'm curious stegley if you can search your heart and tell us your true intention for coming here. Is it to teach, to learn, to find some significance in your life.....just curious if you can be open honest and vulnerable about yourself.

Yes, I agree you like to make up your own definitions for otherwise standard English words. Lol.

I would agree that Jesus was a straight forward person. He was very direct in His speaking because He had a message and his time was short here on earth. But you do realize that not every word Jesus ever spoke is written in the Bible? Whether he asked how someones day was going,or how they felt you and I dont know.I'm sure he could have said those things. But I guess the question in my mind is,do you think you have the mind of Christ? And if so,what makes you think that?

To be fair, not trying to be mean, but to be fair you were the one who brought "chatted" into the word play....

so that would be you making your own definition out of idle is word #G692. argos

as the definition of chat is:

Full Definition of CHAT
intransitive verb
1
: chatter, prattle
2
a : to talk in an informal or familiar manner
b : to take part in an online discussion in a chat room

one could talk in an informal of familiar manner and speak the truth of the Most High...

one can not speak unprofitable, unemployed, barren words and be intentionally speaking the truth of the Most High

IMO, no offence just being honest.

1 .) After these things Jesus shewed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias; and on this wise shewed he himself.
2 .) There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.
3 .) Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
4 .) But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.
5 .) Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered him, No.
6 .) And he said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes.
7 .) Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.
8 .) And the other disciples came in a little ship; (for they were not far from land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes.
9 .) As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.

So basically he didn't act like a human being.

^very concise, btw.

^also concise.
