Romans 11:29 KJV
[29] For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

What do you think people? Is not salvation a free gift as the Bible says? Does God then take back any of His gifts are callings?

Another version says the gifts and callings of God are irrevocable.

In the context leading up to verse 29, God had promised all nations would be blessed through Abraham, including the Jews. God had promised the Jews salvation through the Messiah when He came for He would take away their sins. Yet when the Messiah came the overwhelming majority of Jews rejected Him and His gospel, making them enemies of the gospel. Yet these unbelieving Jews were still beloved by God for the sake of their fathers (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob) whom God had chosen. Therefore God would not revoke that covenant He made that the Jews would be saved through the Messiah, God is longsuffering not willing any perish but all come to repentance. The offer of salvation still remains. When verse 29 is left IN CONTEXT it is not teaching eternal security but saying God will not revoke His promise of salvation to those unbelieving Jews.
