Rev 16:18 that great earthquake and that great city that was divided into three parts was this. The earthquake occurred n 1692 n that great city was divided into three parts was Port Royal Jamaica. The former capital of Jamaica. It was called the riches and the wickedest city n the world. It was also called the Sodom of the new world and the city that sank. For two thirds sank beneath the carribean sea. Ask God then search it out. Peace n blessings

The "Great city" is Rome in the book of Revelation it was indeed the greatest city in the world at the time of Revelation and for centuries following. The population in those days was about a million.

Revelation is a book encoded with symbols so the term"Earthquake" does not mean a literal earthquake - it's pointing to something else. Earthquake in this instance means "A great shaking." God is continually shaking humanity and he shakes everything that can be shaken. This great shaking was symbolic of the tribes of the barbarians who were constantly on the move in Europe and beyond. Their movement was caused by the collapse of the Roman empire. As the Romans pulled back the barbarians displaced them.They supplanted one another and recaptured and plundered cities wherever they went. A real earthquake only lasts for minutes and is limited to a certain geographical area. This great earthquake affected Europe, Asia, and parts of Africa - it was a huge area. It also lasted for many decades.

This "Shaking" or "Earthquake" caused the Roman empire to split into three parts. Part 1 - The Senate remained in Rome. Part 2 - The Emperor moved to Ravenna (via Milan) and part 3 - the eastern Roman government was moved to Constantinople. This occurred when the city of Rome was fearing an attack by Alaric the Visigoth. The Roman government split into three parts in 395AD. In 410AD Alaric did attack and sack Rome and from that point on the population began to dwindle and the old order of the Roman government died. This was a fulfillment of the final judgment of Rome as stated in Revelation chapter 18 starting at vs 21 to the end of the chapter.

A lot of people may not see this, but the book of Revelation reads like a repeating rotation, like in the story of Jericho... 7 priests x 6 rotations = 42 months Compare Rev 16:20 to Rev 6:14


Revelation 16:17-21 “And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.18 And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.20 And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found.21 And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.”

Does that sound familiar? I believe that is because it sounds just like the 6th seal events, and the prophecies we just read about the Great day of God’s wrath. Even the wording there in Revelation 16:20 sounds similar to Revelation 6:14 “And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.”

You have done an excellent job of setting Rev Chapter 16 in its historical context!

I believe that this, like many other prophesies, expects a dual fulfillment.

Mt 24:32-34
32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

parable of the fig tree; The fig tree is a figure of the nation of Israel

When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves The time beginning 11/11/1948.


This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. At least one person alive on 11/11/1948 will live to see the second coming of Christ,

At the time of Jesus' return, I believe that a literal earthquake will literally split Rome (or the Vatican) in three parts.

The question that we must always ask is "What did this mean to the people to whom the book was written."

The great earthquake to come is pretty well documented in scripture, and is nothing less than a catastrophic event which I believe is soon to take place. This event shall be global, and shall not go unnoticed. Here's some more scripture concerning the 6th seal signs found in scripture.

In the scriptures we learn of the shake down to come Isaiah 13:13; “Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.” Isaiah 24:19; “The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.” Isaiah 24:20; “The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again. (Mystery Babylon shall fall)

Also here we see a reference to the heaven and earth shaking when the Lord shall roar out of Zion.

Joel 3:16; “The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.”

Also after the fullness of the Gentiles is fulfilled then the Deliverer comes…Romans 11:26;
“And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:”

The timing confirmed in Luke 21:24-26 “And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.[SUP]25[/SUP]And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;[SUP]26 [/SUP]Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Signs in the heavens and in the earth before the great and terrible day of the Lord come…
Joel 2:30-31; “And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD come.”

Same signs confirmed by Jesus..
Luke 21:11; “And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.”

Signs in the earth and the heavens; also the signs specific to the sun, moon and stars ...
Joel 2:10; “The earth shall quake before them, the heavens shall tremble; the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.”
Joel 2:31;”The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.”
Joel 3:15; “The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.”

And the same spoken of after the tribulation of those days (fullness of the Gentiles)
Matthew 24:29
"Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken,

Mark 13:24;"But in those days, after that tribulation, `the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, 25: And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.”

Powers shaken things removed by the Lords voice…
Hebrews 12:26-27 [SUP]26[/SUP]whose voice then shook the earth. But now He hath promised, saying, "Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven." [SUP]27[/SUP]And these words, "yet once more," signifies the removing of those things which can be shaken, such as things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

And again we read, He shall shake heaven and earth by His voice…Hebrews 12:26; “Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.”

The Lord shall utter his voice from heaven… Jeremiah 25:30; “Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.”

Joel 2:11; “And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executes his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

Again the timing after those days (fullness Gentiles) and the events that will follow…

Matthew 24:29; “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:”

And again the timing, and events confirmed….
Revelation 6:12; “And I beheld when He had opened the sixth seal, and lo, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;”
Revelation 6:13; “And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casts her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.” Revelation 6:14; “And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

Same wording here in Isaiah 34:4; “And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falls off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree.”

And again those things shaken and removed, and those things that remain.
Haggai 2:6; “For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land;

Hebrews 12:25-28;[SUP] “[/SUP]See that ye refuse not him that speaks. I love these type of threads and thank God that we can discuss our outlooks, but once again I see another putting the cart before the horse. We can not have prophetic events happening before other events in bible are to take place first, so it is not bad that you are trying to search the things of God out. But remember look at all prophecy and the order in which they are to take place as one can not happen if there is another that happens first that is to take place.

I mentioned the other day about the Chernobyl disaster that I have seen mentioned by some to fulfill the Wormwood prophecy, because it did poison the waters and many died by drinking the water. And also Chernobyl in Russian is Wormwood. Yet still other things must take place first.

Isnt there wormwood in Hebrew?

Even if something is called wormwood in Russia similiarly, how was Chernobyl as a star that fell from heaven in that interpretation?

Which is why I avoid stuff like that as they never explain it according to scriptures

Here's how you compare spiritual things with spiritual.....

Revelation 8:11 “And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.

Deuteronomy 29:18 “Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the Lord our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;”

Proverbs 5:3-4 “For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:[SUP]4 [/SUP]But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.”

Jeremiah 9:15 “Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.”

Jeremiah 23:15 “Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land.”

Lamentations 3:15 “He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with wormwood.”

Words are like water, both sweet and bitter.

Ya! lol Most all the wording in the book of Revelation is found in other books of scripture. It's like a mystery puzzle....find all the pieces...and let the Spirit decode where they go and how they fit....then you can see the whole picture.

I recall me and you were looking at this before, when I first began to catch it a couple of years back

When someone came in behind with that Russian wormwood there too lol

Certain pieces you need to push off the table and certain ones you need to connect yeah
