Hopefully I can word this correctly.
Is there scripture that can describe different levels of awareness or state of mind ,through Jesus Our Lord and savior, of God Our Father, through the Holy Spirit?
Thankyou, God bless, pickles

hmm...there's James 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. There's James 4:8 says Draw nigh to God, and he will draw night to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Yes, there is, in 1st John. It is about little children, young men, and fathers. And as we read John's exhortation to each, we see that the level of awareness is awareness of God the Father and His Son.

this one I think is in I Peters, as babes in Christ :desire the sincere milk of the word that you may grow there by, and we know that the Word of God is the Spirit of God. be ye not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your minds with the reading of the Word, and ummm, I think this is how it goes, your are yet carnally minded and is not yet ready for meat, but still are with milk, when you should be at meat you are still receiving milk that another must still teach you... this one is somewhat how this scripture goes... if need so I will find it for you... hope this helps.

Peace of God be with you

I think most preach levels of Maturity, for the Bible speaks of babe's on milk and it you give them meat it will choke them and the paul said

1co 13:11When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.1co 13:12For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
and then the disciples asked Jesus once to increase their faith

Lu 10:21In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto BABES: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.Ro 2:20An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of BABES, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.1co 3:1And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto BABES in Christ.1pe 2:2As newborn BABES, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
then the ultimate verse would be , be ye holy For I am Holy or,

Mt 5:48Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
most ( not Me though) preach that perfect means mature, I just preach what it say be ye perfect

Okay, I will quote the passage in 1st John, as this passage relates to levels of awareness.

I am writing to you, little children, because you are forgiven for His name's sake. (A level of awareness, forgiven for His name's sake. We all remember that awareness, what it was like to know that we have been forgiven, our first introduction to God's love.) I am writing to you, father, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. (Another level of awareness, actually the level to aspire to, knowing Him, not just knowing of Him, or just having experienced His touch, but actually aware of Him and His power in all that is around you, and coming to know Him from personal experience with Him.) I am writing to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. (And again, another level of awareness. Having overcome the evil one in their lives, because they are aware of God's light of His truth in love, and the evil one is powerless against God's truth in His love.) I have written to you, children, because you know the Father. (Again, to restate the level of awareness of children, they are forgiven, and because of this they know God.) I have written to you, fathers, because you know Him who has been from the beginning. (What a level of awareness and maturity, knowing Him who is from the beginning, knowing Him better than you know anyone else, closer than any friend, a personal friend of God and the Son. This level of awareness is hard to put into words.) I have written to you, young men, because you are strong and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one. (And again a level of awareness, strong and the word, the living word of God, by the power of the Holy Spirit lives in them. The Spirit makes the word alive in us, and as we grow in Him, and in the revelation of His word, the lies of the devil become weak and useless, because our spiritual eyes are enlightened, we see the heavenly kingdom as it is, and we see the world as it is by God's eyes. The deceptions of the devil cannot compete with the revealed truth of the Spirit.

Sorry I really dont understand the question.
Actually for two reasons.
First, a friend that is into a scewed faith in God that involves self awareness. I know its wrong but hopefully scripture can help in showing the imposter that person.

Second, there are times in prayer, I see an invitation to something greater.
I have hesatated.
I know test all things.
But unsure as I want to be sure in word as well.
I hope this explains it better, maby Im just seeing more there than there is.
Thankyou and God bless, pickles

Thankyou all for your help.
VW, reading the scripture from 1Jn is the closest to explaining what Im seeing.
I dont really know how to put it to words. This is so beyond words. It is like entering into a being in God Our Father, through Jesus Our Lord, in his Holy Spirit.
Hope this makes sence.

Hello Pickles, here's some scriptures and a few bible commentaries about it....

Fell into a trance. A rapt condition, when he was transported out of himself into a mental condition that fitted him to see divine things. See 2Co_12:2; Rev_1:10.

he fell into a trance; or an ecstasy, or an ecstasy fell upon him; it was what was supernatural, and came from above, and did not arise from any natural cause in him; he was as it were out of the body, and entirely in the spirit; all the bodily organs and senses were shut up, and all sensible objects removed from him; and he was wholly intent on what was proposed to him in the vision, which filled him with wonder and astonishment.

Act 10:10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,
Act 10:11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

Num 24:4 He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling intoatrance, but having his eyes open:
Act 10:10 And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,
Act 11:5 I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
Act 22:17 And it came to pass, that, when I was come again to Jerusalem, even while I prayed in the temple, I was in a trance;

So yes it's biblical. You know that old testament prophets used to be in ectasy, faint or fall on the ground...(well, as John Wesley says). The Numbers one is an interesting one though, because that's Balaam the false prophet having a trance...God actually overpowers this guys facilities and gives him the message. The point is, that God speaks to people like Balaam too, but He usually has to overpower their will to do so... God did the same thing with Saul in 1 Samuel 19:24..so while I'm sure your'e a genuine Christian.. remember it's not something that determines whether you are a faithful Christian or not or makes you any more special than other people...I guess that's the trap we can fall into.

To me a trance is basically a deep sleep, that God gives us...in the day I guess we'd call it day dreaming.. but it's deep. As you're into intercessory prayer it's to be expected...and your prophetic giftings will certainly be present too. Actually intercessory gifts and prophetic gifts are basically the same thing...i.e. .standing in the gap for God's people, giving direction , teaching, and sometimes correction..oh yeah prophetic words too. Sometimes God may give a vision or a dream while in a trance like He did with Peter. Sometimes you may hear an audible voice or sense God's presence in a greater and more tangible way. You may see writing on pages of a book that you can read. Maybe a song will come to you from nowhere. If you're involved in spiritual warfare you might actually see particular evil beings like demons...and yes fear is normal in that case.. sometimes God's given me visions of people lying in hospital beds and angels around them...well whoever I'm praying for.. demons and other evil things..occasionally.. occasionally, the writing in books as I have described..it almost always happens after I dig deeper into God, after lengthy times in prayer or worship..as I'm sure you know...what sort of times.. 2 to 6 hours or longer? It happened when Peter was hungry..so I guess fasting would make it happen more often as well. I don't know, God might do anything with you, so don't be afraid... you're still alive... it won't kill you...and if it does (which it won't LOL) you know where you're going. Just take what you see or hear or experience, evaluate and test it by taking it to prayer with God and the Word, act upon it if it is anything directional, ignore it if it doesn't make sense and ask God for clarification/confirmation... .. and enjoy it.. enjoy? is that the right word to use? So I guess in conclusion..it not only appears to be biblical in both old and new testaments... you're not the only Christian experiencing it , it's been happening since Jesus walked the earth. Maybe one day you'd like to write a book?..hmm I can see the title now.. "Trancing and Prancing with the Holy Ghost" by Pickles.

Absolutely. This is so wonderful for you. The closest scripture is in Heb. 10:19. When we come into the Father's presence we are changed into His image. This is what I believe Jesus came to make possible for us. And we can come into this presence and have great, unspeakable joy. Under the old covenant, only the high priest could come into this presence, only once a year, and only after shedding of blood. And then he could not stay for very long, and it was not a joyous experience, rather very frightening.

Praise God,

Something else about His presence. We are not in our present state able to endure His presence, in the Holy place, without His help. If you doubt this, remember John, who was the disciple that Jesus loved, and it was said of him that he often laid his head on Jesus' breast. And yet, when he was caught up into heaven, whether in the flesh or out of the flesh, he could not tell, and saw the Lord, standing among the 7 lamp stands, with His face and hair white like snow, and a golden girdle, and His feet glowing like bronze when it is in a furnace, with a sword coming out of His mouth, and John, this favorite disciple, fell on his face like a dead man. This happened to some few of the prophets, they could not tell where they were, and Daniel fell on his face like a dead man, with not even any breath in him. And the Lord gave them strength to stand in His presence.

In the Holy place, with the Father, His light illuminates us completely. All darkness is lighted. We will, when we are strengthened, see ourselves in His light, in the light of His perfection and glory. And as we see, we are changed into His exact image, from glory to glory. And even so, we only at best see in a glass darkly, at best. But in that day, we will see Him face to face, and we will know just as we have been known, and we will be changed in an instant, to be as He is now. Then will this corruption be put of and our perfection be put on. As we stand or kneel or lie like dead in His presence in that most Holy place, we are even now putting off the corruption of the flesh. This is the Father's glory that Jesus said we would share with Him as we become one with Him and with the Father.

In His love,

Yesterday we had a relationship with Christ through grace and knowledge and through the members of His body. Today we will get to know Him in the same way because Christ is being formed in us / Gal 4:19. Many have a problem with scriptural knowledge because knowledge puffs up or makes lofty / 1Cor 8:1. However, the purpose of knowledge is not to puff us up but to give us truth that we can mix faith with and experience Christ through what we know of Him / Heb 4:2. 1Corinthians chapter 13 gives us the knowledge of what love is and what love does. We have the knowledge of love but God wants us to experience that love by mixing faith with what we know and applying it to the situations and circumstances that God has ordained for us, in our walk with Him.

Wisdom is the application of knowledge, so when we mix faith with what we know about the love of God, it becomes experiential knowledge to help us grow in the wisdom and person of that love, which is Christ. God's plan also includes trials to try our faith or the knowledge of our faith, which is much more precious than gold / 1Pt 1:7. God takes what we know and transforms that knowledge by forming Christ in us so that we can know Him, fellowship with Him and worship Him in Spirit and in experiential truth / Jn 6:63. Now we have a faith that has been tried by God's plan and it adds to our life.

2Pt 1:2-9

2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

Look at the things that are added to our lives through the knowledge of God and Christ.

Grace and peace is multiplied ...v/2
all things that pertain to life and godliness ...v/3
we are given exceeding great and precious promises through that knowledge...v/4
partaker of God's divine nature ... v/4
virtue and more knowledge...v/5
temperance, patience and godliness...v/6
kindness and charity...v/7

The word for 'knowledge' in verse 2,3, 8 is epignosis ~ which is a noun that means correct and precise knowledge that experience attributes to with discernment. We have the the result and consummation of these things that are added to our life through knowledge in v/8 and the adverse effects if we don't have these things abounding in our lives in v/9. I don't want to minimize charity in any way, but charity is at the end of what God adds to our life in knowing Him. We should never discredit or discourage others from having the knowledge of God and Christ through the scriptures. Even Christ as a child waxed strong in spirit, was filled with wisdom and the grace of God was upon Him / Lk 2:40 and was found in the temple listening to the doctors of the law and was asking questions and were astonished at His understanding and answers v/26.

Getting to know Christ is having God add these things to our life. I wouldn't put to much stock in trances but if God gave you a heart vision through His word and made an impression with that vision, I would consider that virtue with promise and a precious addition from God.

I would not trade 1000 times of the kind of knowledge you put to us here for 10 seconds in God's presence. You said it right, knowledge puffs up. Love, now that is of God, for God is love, and everyone who loves is born of God. I don't know what else to say to you, only that I am remorseful that you feel you must take such a stance against something so obviously from and of God.

In the old covenant, the law was given 3 times. In the last hours of Jesus' life, He gave us a new commandment, to love one another even as He has loved us.............3 times. (I find it odd that most theologians would remove the gospel of John from the cannon, too spiritual I guess.) In the letter to the Hebrews, the Spirit exhorts us to come before the throne of God, to draw near to God, to enter into the holy place through the veil by His blood, (see, 3 times to cone into His presence,) stating that Jesus lives to always interceed for those who are drawing near to God thought Him. I used to be a seeker of knowledge, but now I am a seeker of God, to be in His presence, to be called of Him a friend and son and to be known of and by Him.

I am reminded of Martha and Mary. Remember? Martha was busy cooking and cleaning and taking care of everything, and Mary was sitting at the feet of Jesus, just being with Him, near to Him. And Martha, feeling slighted, and that things were not fair, came to Jesus to complain about Mary not doing anything, and Jesus rebuked her, mildly, but a rebuke all the same. He said that Mary had chosen the better thing, and that it would not be taken away from her. In fact, the impression I get is that Mary was doing something, something so wonderful and so fulfilling and so important to her and to Jesus that He enjoyed it as much as she did.

Knowledge, it will pass away, and wisdom, here for now, but Jesus, and being in love with Him and one with Him, and through Him in love with the Father and one with the Father, I think and believe that this is the higher way, and will not be taken away from those who chose it.
