Does the bible say what our heavenly mansions will look like? Will they look like royal palaces, or immense mansions like the celebrities have? Or will they look like what WE would like them to be? For example, I hope my heavenly mansion will be a little log cabin on a lake with lots of ducks and geese and wildlife.. :) That would be my ideal heavenly mansion..I'm just curious to know what you all think. :)

????

I once stared at that verse for awhile.

I thought...logically, Jesus tells us to not want worldly things, and yet we receive mansions?
IDK, I moved past it.
He goes on to state..."...if it were not so, I would have told you"

So why did He decide to word it that way?

MGA KAPATID SA PANGINOON!!!! (tagalog of, Siblings in the Lord!)

Greetings!

The Mansions, are of Christ Standard quality. You know, I actually sometimes wish that I only have a land/lot there and ask Jesus of what the Mansion's design should be. It is because I am a builder and what excitement and joy it is to build your house....... In the Kingdom of GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

He said mansions not in the sense of "possessions" but instead, He is giving us an idea of how much welcome we are (His friends) in heaven. He is telling us that we have already a place with Him. He is also comforting us with the knowledge of being with Him, in our own Homes, in His Kingdom where no bad things exist, and everything is good for us! We may actually put it like this; We have a Mansion that He prepared, He did not put a fence on a piece of land, neither spared an apartment.

I hope this helps you understand the good Master! :D

Well, the Bible doesn't say much about what awaits us on purpose I believe. It is a mystery what we will be and what we will do. I think anything that would attempt to give specifics would be largely misunderstood because:

1 Corinthians 13:12
For now we see in a mirror [e]dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I will know fully just as I also have been fully known.

We have no way of even grasping how we will perceive things once we are with our Lord and Father. I doubt that the physical creation will be the main object of our attention.
Also, I don't think it will be a monotonous thing that can easily be summarized. Just look at all the diversity and complexity of creation, God and His plans for us must be amazing.

Here is something random to think about. God created the entire universe and everything in it in 6 days, I'm sure He could have done it sooner, but He did it that way for a reason, for our benefit according to His purposes.

Then Christ said in John 14:3 "If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.". Who knows how long He has been preparing that place for us, maybe it is still being worked on lol.

God is a creator and an artist, He loves to share amazing and breathtaking things with us that fill us with awe. It's just a theory of course, but I can't imagine Him ending His creative nature once sin is destroyed. I think that will just be the beginning

Romans 8:18

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of Him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21 because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

And Revelation 21 of course:

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”[a] for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.

-----------------------------------------------

And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. 11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

15 The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. 16 The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia[c] in length, and as wide and high as it is long. 17 The angel measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 144 cubits[d] thick.[e] 18 The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. 19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.[f] 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.

22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

this is an amazing thing to realize,
our Father is preparing for us offices of ruler-ship and leader-ship
to be 'kings and priests' in His Kingdom -
it's not so much about our expectations of glorious/ornate mansions,
but of 'us being granted the authority of a King or a Priest to guide the
human inhabitants of the Kingdom of God to Jesus Christ and all of His
wonderful attributes for the glorious FAMILY of GOD - when God will be,
ALL-IN-ALL.

the exceptional understanding of this concept is, that it is an Eternal Dynamic -
that grows, it grows, more glorious, and more glorious, .....
in short,
when we think that it could NOT BE ANY BETTER, it just KEEPS GETTING BETTER......
ad infinitum.

How's something like that going to work? Are you going to be over other Christians (the inhabitants of the kingdom of God), or are they going to be over you?

Maybe He is going to expand His creation, maybe there will exist beings other than humans

We are the mansions...

1 John 4:13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
The mansions are being "prepared", that is, the Bride...

======================================

the Christian's destiny in God's Kingdom is to be Kings and Priests -
and these Kings and Priests will be the resurrected beings, because,
flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God - it is a Spiritual Realm.
but,
the flesh and blood survivors at the end of this 'age' will be subject to the
Spiritual Rulers.
the KEY PRINCIPLE is, that Jesus Christ came preaching, (The Kingdom of God).....

Think about how beautiful the pristine wilderness is now.....how much more when this is all restored and YHWH is there?

The extent is unimaginable...

Phillipians 3:20, "But our citizenship is in heaven, out from which we also eagerly wait for our Ruler, Yahshua Messiah the King."

Revelation 21:1-2, "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no more sea. And I, Yahchanan, saw the holy city, YHWH Shammah, coming down from YHWH out of heaven, prepared as brides adorned for their husbands. And I heard a great voice out of heaven, saying: Behold, the tabernacle of YHWH is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and YHWH Himself will be with them, and be their Father.

Ezekiyl 48:35, "The distance around the city will be eighteen thousand measures; and the name of the city from that day will be: YHWH SHAMMAH! (YHWH Is There)"

Revelation 21:3-4, "And I heard a great voice out of heaven, saying: Behold, the tabernacle of YHWH is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they will be His people, and YHWH Himself will be with them, and be their Father. And YHWH will wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there will be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, nor will there be any more pain, for the former things have passed away."

Hebrews 13:14
"For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come."

Revelation 21:4-8 And YHWH will wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there will be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, nor will there be any more pain, for the former things have passed away. And He Who sat upon the throne, said: Behold, I make all things new. And He said to me: Write, for these words are true and faithful. And He said to me: It is done! I am Aleph and Tau, the Beginning and the End. I will give to him who thirsts of the fountain of the water of life freely. He who overcomes will inherit all things; and I will be his Father, and he will be My son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and worshipers of false gods, and all liars, will have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone--which is the second death."

Revelation 21:9-27, "And there came to me one of the seven malakim who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying: Come, I will show you the brides, the Lamb's wives. And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy YHWH Shammah, descending out of heaven from YHWH, Having the glory of YHWH. And her light was similar to a most precious stone, just like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; And had a great and high wall, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve malakim, and names written upon them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israyl: On the east, three gates; on the north, three gates; on the south, three gates, and on the west, three gates. And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. And he who talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and its gates, and its wall. And the city lies four square, and the length is as large as the breadth. And he measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand stadia; about 1,500 miles. The length, and the breadth, and the height of it are equal. And he measured its wall: a hundred and forty-four cubits, according to human measurements, that the malak was using; about 216 feet. And the construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth beryl, The fifth emerald, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth onyx, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, as it were, transparent as glass. And I saw no pagan sanctuary in it; for THE Tabernacle OF YHWH, the body of Messiah, was in it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it; for the glory of YHWH does enlighten it, and its lamp is the Lamb. And the nations of those who are saved will walk in the light of it. And the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honor into it. And the gates of it will not be shut at all by day, for there will be no night there. And they will bring the glory and honor of the nations into it. And there will by no means enter into it anything that defiles, nor works abomination, neither a lie; but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life."

You're simply wasting your time trying to picture it. It is beyond your imagination.
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

I had to reread this and the verse like ten times.:p
:)

Oh well, I agree with SoulWeaver's post.
Although she took the fun out of the game.:p

Let's hope BLB's fun thread doesn't turn into a debate about what materials these "mansions" will be made of.
