It seems like it's rained every day here in Florida...and hot. Plus no see em's and mosquitoes are biting just to step outside the door. Why did we get a wooded lot here?

and my kitchen now is torn out...I keep thinking...the new one is coming...it will be so beautiful.

If I take a running start and jump I think I can make it.

The water feels pretty good this time of year.... I might have missed.

This is a rant, and is not aimed at anyone in particular.

Does anyone else ever get frustrated at the level of ignorance in others' posts? I don't mean biblical ignorance; we were all there once and we're all still learning. I also don't mean typographical errors; we all make those too, and miss things on proof-reading. Rather, I mean ignorance of spelling, grammar, usage and other aspects of written English. I also recognize that for many on this site, English is a second or even third language, and they generally do very well (often better than native speakers!). I just get tired of seeing, for example, incorrect selections for there/their/they're, incorrect use of apostrophes, and sentences so poorly constructed that the meaning is uncertain. How do people graduate high school with writing like this? Are the standards really so low?

Yes, I'm ranting, over something that really isn't all that important. However, it seems a bit ridiculous to me that people who argue over the exact wording in a Bible verse either can't create a sentence sufficiently coherent to convey their own thoughts clearly, or when doing so, defend their poor English with silly excuses. Some people simply don't care. To that, if you don't exert effort to write well, why should I exert effort to read what you've scrawled?

Okay, rant over. My writing isn't perfect, despite my efforts to make it so. My attitude isn't perfect either, apparently. ;)

You are funny! But I do agree where certain aspects of our written language are no longer corrected in schools here. It tends to be the case of "As long as we understand what you mean" approach. When I was in school one would be marked down for wrong spelling even in the subject of maths!
Their, there, there's, they're, etc are all quite simple to understand if this is your first language. It is a matter of just thinking what the shortened term or how the word should be used. It is hilarious today in the UK how degrees are given to people who have English as their first language but dont have correct spelling or punctuation. I was going to do O levels in school but they changed it to GCSE so I was one of the first. The complaint back then were that they were too hard as in my school only three got A's and the whole county containing many schools all together only had 18 A grades. That was way below the average O level results. The next year they made them too easy and nearly everyone had an A. Today is similar! Yet they did nothing to tell employers about the first years results were as they were and none of us had our results altered. We see the next generation thinking they have done well and get high results and I look at the papers and think "Back when I took them this would have been an F or a G". (Its almost become the joke with today's exams here that one only has to spell ones name right and one has passed!
Why has this happened? Why lower standards? Why are today's degrees similar to the standards we did for O level and the first GCSE's? It is because of three main aspects. Discipline has declined and due to the lack of job opportunities, the education industry want to make the average person feel good. " I may not have a job but I have a degree or a this or a that qualification". It also is because we have opened up our education as a world wide industry. It is now a big money earner.
A classic example of this is my mum, as she has had many jobs as a typist or proof reader and she has been an author etc, was asked by a young Chinese lady (Who was a talented young lady) to proof read and write her dissertation to make it understandable in English as understandably, it was not easy for her in this respect. She was doing a masters degree in tourism. As my mum was working through it, she said the context of the degree and the difficulty of it was no different to what I would have done to pass my GCSE's. I thought she was joking, but my mum doesn't joke about such things! After my mum typed it up into proper English she passed with the highest grades. Now I'm not saying she didnt have the intelligence as she had a brilliant mind. I'm saying is, the work involved was so simple and straightforward to obtain ones masters degree, that one thinks "If I was highly intelligent and wanted to gain a high education what possible education could I go into to prove on paper that I have such abilities now that the bar has been lowered so far and there are no longer anything to replace the old high standards? Few people had a degree, let alone a masters degree when I left school and was studying for a National Diploma... (Equivalent to three A levels we were told). Back then no one could even get to go to study a degree unless they were in their mid 20's as the level was such one would need a steady progression. Only those from wealthier families could do it (Due to cost) and even they had to be highly intelligent. They would leave school, and do National Diplomas and then Higher Diplomas and then Degrees and then Masters Degrees. Each section mentioned would be two or three years or more of studying. If one stayed in school one could get A levels instead which would be equivalent to a National Diploma or greater if one passed over three A levels.

Today it is known for some school leavers to go straight into degree courses!

I'll second that rant but I can't do anything about it so one can only let it slide, or correct people which would be tedious.

Every time that you wake up breathing
Every night when you close your eyes
Everyday that your heart keeps beating
There's purpose for your life
So don't give up
Don't lay down
Just hold on
Don't quit now
Every breath that you take has meaning
You are here for a reason - Ashes Remain

I give up on everything.... but cooking this baby and being a momma.... I give up looking for cars....

I give up fixing the nursery up....

I give up keeping my own house clean...

i give up cooking....

I give up making my OWN husband happy.

Everything I do.... apparently ticks him off.

I have pregnancy hormones.... what does he expect me to do??? :(

Im just tired of this... and i need prayer... and I need help.. from my own lazy husband who doesnt want to do anything till baby gets here.

sigh...... ::cries to self::

Hubby needs to get more involved in this process besides getting angry and refusing to help. He's going to have a rude awakening once the baby arrives and starts crying in the middle of the night. You might want to get him a copy of 'Diaper Changing for Dummies'.
