Luke 14:25-33New King James Version (NKJV)

Leaving All to Follow Christ
25*Now great multitudes went with Him. And He turned and said to them, 26*“If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple. 27*And whoever does not bear his cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple. 28*For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— 29*lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30*saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’? 31*Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32*Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace. 33*So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.

I thought it a good thing to start this thread. I am going to post twice to show the pattern I would ask the replies to follow. I will post one part of the cost we should have counted...with a scripture. Every reply should then list that part without the scripture given...and then add to it one more part at a time with scripture... like the next two posts.

1. Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart.
Romans 10:8-10New King James Version (NKJV)

8*But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”[a] (that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9*that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10*For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

1. Confess with your mouth and believe in your heart.
2. Being willing to distribute material things to those in need.

1 John 3:16-18New King James Version (NKJV)

The Outworking of Love
16*By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17*But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?

18*My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

Don't know the word genuflect...and I do not care to as I do not need to.
Your reply resembles the spirit of rebellion...but maybe I am wrong.

Genuflect means to bend a knee, bow down. There's no spirit of rebellion its just your OP seems a little umm, pushy. Most people are going to answer a post the way they wish to not by a set of rules given.

Is my original post not an edifying way to count the cost? Resistance is easy to see. Jesus was pushy..and still is...remember the whip?

Philippians 2:2-4New King James Version (NKJV)

2*fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3*Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4*Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

2. Being willing to distribute material things to those in need.
3. Confess that you own nothing in regards to material things.

Acts 4:31-33New King James Version (NKJV)

31*And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

Sharing in All Things
32*Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. 33*And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.

Mark 12:28-30New King James Version (NKJV)

The Scribes: Which Is the First Commandment of All?
28*Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving[a] that He had answered them well, asked Him, “Which is the first commandment of all?”

29*Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30*And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment.[c]

34*And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him.

35*“So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”[a]

John 8:10-12New King James Version (NKJV)

10*When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her,[a] “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?”

11*She said, “No one, Lord.”

And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and[c] sin no more.”

12*Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

I have always thought that interesting, in reality we bend one knee to the king and both knees to God.
