I have my own point of view, I do not believe that God does hate Satan but hates what He does.

I am interested in other points of view and particularly views that are backed with Scripture.

Since Satan is the only being that's been sentenced to eternal damnation to date, I think its a safe bet that God is not too thrilled with him.

There are different kinds of love. God loves his enemies in a specific way separate from the way He loves His children. Both are true...which is common. He hates and loves Satan.

“And war broke out in heaven; Michael and his angels fought against the dragon (e.g. Satan, the enemy of God). The dragon and his angels fought back, but they were defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. The great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world-he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him” (Rev 12:7–9 NRSV)

In the New Testament, Satan is the devil who is the archenemy of God that mounts a significant but ultimately futile challenge to God’s authority. Satan is the enemy of Jesus Christ, all humanity, and the kingdom of God.

The Greek translation of Satan is where we got the word devil and it has the connotation of a slanderous accuser. The devil was called also BEELZEBUL (Mt 5.37) and Beliar, or Belial (2 Cor 6.15).

Other characteristic appellations were the evil one (Mt 5.37), the accuser (Rv 12.10), the adversary (1 Pt 5.8), and the enemy (Mt 13.39).

In Lk 10.18 he is characterized as the leader of the devils who were subject to Christ and His Disciples. He was the tempter of Christ, a murderer, a liar, and the father of murderers and liars (Jn 8.39–44).

He was the strong man whom Christ was defeating (Mt 12.29), the prince of the world to be cast out by Jesus’ sacrifice (Jn 12.31; 14.30; 16.11), and the instigator of Judas Iscariot (Jn 13.2, 27) who ultimately is doomed to everlasting fire (Mt 25.41).

Etc...

My belief is NO, God no longer loves the devil and don't you either or that wicked creature will attempt to use it against you toward your destruction.

Love God, love your neighbor, love holiness, love the fruits of the Holy Spirit (e.g. love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control). Keep your eyes on Christ.

JOHN 15:23.

he that hateth Me hateth My Father also.
And lest we think this means we have to go all the way to the point of being "haters" before we have a problem, this is more accurately translated: "He that values other things above a relationship with ME, also fails to put My Father first in all things."

Satan is God's enemy, and God says to love your enemies.... so how we gonna try to twist this one? It's often difficult for us to fathom what God's love really is, and how far it reaches.

Although I believe your question is a legitimate one, I think it's sufficient enough to know that God loves righteousness and hates wickedness. Therefore I believe we should not dwell on evil and instead keep our focus on Jesus Christ the Lord and rest our minds on His holiness and goodness and love. :)

Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

I don't think He does, He created him and the lake of fire was never God intention for him as well as humans.

What I think is amazing is that God isn't surprised by anything. It's not like the Lord ever said, "Oops! I did not see that one coming!" or "Wow, how did THAT happen?" or "Perhaps I should have done things differently...?"

In our miniscule minds we think inside a limited scope of a temporary reality. We can't think our way out of a paper bag. Time does not exist in God's eternal reality. Evil does not exist in God's reality. Hate does not exist in God's eternal reality. Darkness does not exist in God's eternal reality. We cannot comprehend the fullness of God. God's love toward us blows my mind!

The more I think upon the reality of the eternal realm of God's glory, the less I care about the temporary realm of darkness.

Not all of them, but here are a few :);

  • Psalm 5:5, "The boastful shall not stand before Thine eyes; Thou dost hate all who do iniquity,"
  • Psalm 11:5, "The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked, and the one who loves violence His soul hates."
  • Lev. 20:23, "Moreover, you shall not follow the customs of the nation which I shall drive out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I have abhorred them."
  • Prov. 6:16-19, "There are six things which the Lord hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: [SUP]17[/SUP] Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, [SUP]18[/SUP] A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil, [SUP]19 [/SUP]A false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers."
  • Hosea 9:15, "All their evil is at Gilgal; indeed, I came to hate them there! Because of the wickedness of their deeds I will drive them out of My house! I will love them no more; All their princes are rebels."
  • Romans 9:13, "Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated"

i think God is incapable of hate..that's what i think.. :)
The bible clearly teaches that God hates sin and wickedness, He even destroyed the world in Noah's day because of it. If God does not hate unrighteousness, then how can He be righteous? God sacrificed His only begotten Son to redeem us from sin, that's how much he hates sin. I believe God's love is stronger than His hate, but to deny that God is capable of hating anything is to deny part of His character, and it insinuates that God is oblivious to all acts of unrighteousness. If God does not hate Satan, than the only logical conclusion is to presume that God approves of and supports Satan. Is that whole Lake of Fire thing just a big joke? Have you read about the Day of Vengeance when God pours out His Cup of Wrath? jmo

I just have always felt that our "hate" is not the same as God's "hate". We will never really understand it.

Enbedded in the Hebrew word for hate is the word "oppose". I certainly do see him opposing evil and the devil too.
