eventually we Christians come to realize that our Spiritual Armour is
upon us at all times, and that our Father always has our backs,
whether we feel it or not....
This is what I meant in post #5 by "knowing it", not pretending to dress up in something.

In correlation to my story I was reminded of Hebrews 4:12-13 where it says

[SUP]12 [/SUP]For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. [SUP]13 [/SUP]And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

You know I find it quite interesting that the bible protects us against evil, yet it also convicts us of any wrong doing. The sword of the spirit is one of my favorite pieces of armor that I put on, I may not fully understand everything in the bible, but my spirit does and I feel that it is enough.
Part of using the sword is speaking the word against the enemy[Satan, Devil]

Jesus showed us how to wield and use the Sword of the Spirit verbally in Matt 4.1-11 and Luke 4.1-13
God spoke everything into existence, Jesus spoke the word to the enemy and the enemy had to flee, If it is Good for God and Jesus it is good for us. Praying God's word is also using the Sword of the Spirit verbally.

We also know from Isaiah 55.8-11 that God's word will never return to us void.

[SUP]8 [/SUP]For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
[SUP]11 [/SUP]So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

"Helmet"? Yes.
"Breastplate"? Yes.

What did Priests tend to carry?
I do not think the Eph 6 Armour has anything to do with representing the Levitical Priests clothing. Paul had Roman Soldier Guards and wrote Eph 6 using them as his example. Paul refers to us as Soldiers in other Epistles.

There is no type and shadow in the Epistles to show us something in the OT, If Paul did that he would be contradicting his whole revelation of Grace given to him by Jesus Christ.

................ Unless we go all fanatical, and decide that "the enemy" is other human beings. And, trust me, this destructive view is gleefully pursued by millions of people claiming Christianity.

Like I said, there are some who say it could be. And it could be an interesting study if someone is interested.

I totally agree that some say it is, but it would be going backwards and not forwards, and only an interesting allegorical study, rather than interesting fact.

I agree. The enemy is defined in scripture as Satan/devil. I can appreciate your thoughts here and see and agree with what you are stating. Sadly I have seen what you state more than I would like.

Many also think the enemy is the thief found in John 10.10, yet Jesus was talking to the pharisees in John 9 and 10, so I define the thief in John 10.10 as self righteous, works based religion>

John 10.10
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

I view it this way:

John10.10
RELIGION cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

It's interesting that the noted Theologian, Karl Barth, once said: "Religion is unbelief."
