Marriage is a holy covenant made between a man and a woman and God Himself is the witness.




It is the first human to human relationship.

What is the importance of marriage in the Word of God?

Marriage is considered as the core of the relationship between Man and God.


Bible speaks of God and the people of God as Husband and wife.

Isaiah 54:5
For your Maker is your husband-- the LORD Almighty is his name-- the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.

God calls Israel as his deserted wife, in Isaiah 54:6
The LORD will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit-- a wife who married young, only to be rejected," says your God.



God set the institution of Marriage is the highest and the prominent one, and He himself holds both man and woman accountable for the damage done to this sacred covenant.

Malachi 2:13-15
13“This is another thing you do: you cover the altar of the LORD with tears, with weeping and with groaning, because He no longer regards the offering or accepts it with favor from your hand.

We learn here Man losses the favor of God , and it is said Proverbs 18:22
22 He who finds a wife finds a good thing,
And obtains favor from the Lord.


14“Yet you say, ‘For what reason?’ Because the LORD has been a witness between you and the wife of your youth, against whom you have dealt treacherously, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant. 15“But not one has done so who has a remnant of the Spirit.
Proverb 2:17
who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God.



And what did that one do while he was seeking a godly offspring?

15 Has not the one God made you? You belong to him in body and spirit. And what does the one God seek? Godly offspring.
God seeks a godly offspring from a marriage,

The very first command God gave Man after creating Him was to be fruitful, Genesis 1:28
God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground."




Take heed then to your spirit, and let no one deal treacherously against the wife of your youth. 16“For I hate divorce,” says the LORD, the God of Israel, “and him who covers his garment with wrong,” says the LORD of hosts. “So take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.”

Mark 10:8-9
8 AND THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH; so they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9"What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."

Hello Rosarajan. Good verse on marriage. But God will still bless those who wishes to remain single to. like it says in:

1 Corinthinas 7: 8 "To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single as I am."

So its good to encourage those to get married the right way and as long as you have God in the middle of it all, but we are also to encourage those who wishes to remain single if they are called to be single.

Marriage is special as long you have God in the middle of your life. and has to be God's perfect match which is why many relationships and marriages are broken. Because they wanted to get married and go to far ahead of God's will. The right Marriage has to come from God, from his will, from his blessing, and when it doesn't? then you can see why marrieages are not blessed. God does give your hearts desires, but according to his will. If we want the right maririage, we have to follow God's will.

God blesses families,

When Abraham as blessed, God said through you all the families on Earth will be blessed,
Genesis 12:3

And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.




God bestows blessing where there is unity.

Psalm 133
1How good and pleasant it is
when God’s people live together in unity!

2It is like precious oil poured on the head,
running down on the beard,
running down on Aaron’s beard,
down on the collar of his robe.
3It is as if the dew of Hermon
were falling on Mount Zion.
For there the Lord bestows his blessing,
even life forevermore.


Jesus said he will be present, when 2 or more gather in His Name.
Matthew 18:20
For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.


God bestows His blessing in families, when there is unity and when we gather in His Name, God is called the Most blessed of all, all blessings flow from Him, and He bestows His blessing where His Words are put in practice.

The order of Authority in Marriage and family.


1 God is the highest Authority,

2 Chronicles 20:6
and he said, "O LORD, the God of our fathers, are You not God in the heavens? And are You not ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in Your hand so that no one can stand against You.

Christ is the authority over Man,

man is the authority over woman
1 Corinthians 11:13

But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.

Husband and wife should be one in authority and decision , for they are one.

Parents are the authority set by God over children.

Exodus 20:12
20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

Ephesians 6:1
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.


Parents have to teach their children the laws and the deeds of God.

Deuteronomy 11:18-19
18"You shall therefore impress these words of mine on your heart and on your soul; and you shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontals on your forehead.19"You shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road and when you lie down and when you rise up.

Didn't the LORD make you one with your wife? In body and spirit you are his. And what does he want? Godly children from your union.


God desired to fill the Earth with his image as is written in Genesis 1:28 so that the vessels of clay He formed from the dust of the Earth could be used by Him for the great works He predestined for us.

Children are a Reward and a blessing of victory over enemies, enemy (devil)

Man is the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 11:17
A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man.


The image of God is His glory, and He desired to fill the Earth with His glory.

Genesis 1:16
God made two great lights--the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.

Psalm 136
7who made the great lights,

His love endures forever.​

8the sun to govern the day,

9the moon and stars to govern the night;His love endures forever.

God made Man in His Image.
Genesis 37:9-10

God made His image in His likeness, He is light, so are we, He is sun , He made man like sun , woman like moon and children like stars. We are His glory and His light on Earth.
