I have heard some say marriage is the last form of slavery. What do you think would happen if they got rid of it? I personally believe their would be lots of violence because of jealousy and more diseases because of the sleeping around. What do you think?

I think the point is that you become united as one with your spouse through marriage. If you dont marry then everyone you unite with then is becoming one with you and thats gonna cause some problems.

I feel that God gave us marriage to show us how to have true love for one another. I also feel that it is a training tool for us, to teach us how to rely and trust and have faith on this world. It gets us ready for the marriage ceremony when the Lord comes back for His bride. It is a prividledge for me to be married.

Rather than getting rid of marriage, I would suggest people be careful who they marry.

Marriage is making a holy commitment before God that you will be loving and faithful to one another for life. It is a covenant established by God. Whether you believe it or not, God hold us to that covenant.

Being fruitful and multiplying is a command. Since fornication is prohibited, marriage therefore is a command. Anything G-d commands can not be something to our detriment (after all, he called creating Adam and Eve "good"). Paul mentions that if we are not slaves to sin, then we are slaves to righteousness. Slavery to righteousness leading to life isn't a bad thing, when the only other option is slavery to sin that leads to death.

I have never considered marriage to be slavery.
It is very much an example of the marriage to our relationship with Jesus.
In marriage you serve each other.
Just as Jesus serves us, and we serve him.
It is in serving that one comes to know great love.
God bless, pickles

I think in a sense marriage is slavery. I mean, you are bound to someone, and you have to serve them. The wrong idea is that it is bad in some way to serve another. Jesus said the greatest amoung you will be a servant of all.

Now for those outside the church. Man's nature is self serving. So serving another is a burden. When something doesn't seem profitable anymore cast it away. Ofcourse the more this mindset becomes widespread the farther earth decends.

Marriage is an earthly symbolism for the church and Christ. That is why He was constantly accusing the Israelites of adultery during their sinful periods. When we make a covenant to a mate we are giving ourselves to them completely for the rest of our lives and it is a covenant that needs to be taken seriously and faithfully. Jesus told us to count the cost before we choose a life as His bride. The relationship between a man and a woman is a serious thing with spiritual implications. We shouldn't be with someone just because we are lonely; it isn't a flippant act that we are to enter into recklessly.

every time I got knee deep in muck or relationship
I spent more time
trying to figure
NOW, HOW DO I GET MYSELF OUT OF THIS MESS?
BUT
the kind of women I chased and caught were not always
the kind of women you parade around your parents and say look what I got
I DO BELIEVE THIS MUCH
I am a different man being saved then I was as a sinner
SO
finding a woman who is saved
JUST COULD BE
the golden ticket I have been missing all of my life.........
