Well, I just returned home from seeing the new Christian movie "Do you believe?" with my wife and three children and much to my surprise I actually liked the movie a lot. In fact, to quote my 7 year old son in the movie theater parking lot as we were leaving:

"I can't believe that Dad liked the movie...he always thinks that Christian movies are crap."

Lol.

Not "always", but usually.

Anyhow, without going into any details at all, the theme of the movie was this:

Faith without works is dead.

If you have some free time, then I'd recommend checking the movie out.

Did the theme also express that 'works without faith' is unacceptable to God?

I think that we only paid $32.00 for 3 adult tickets (my 12 year old is considered to be an adult) and 2 children's tickets, so it wasn't too bad...until we started buying popcorn and smoothies...lol.

Anyhow, in my particular case, I try to reach my children with the gospel message in as many ways as I possibly can, so it was well worth the investment. In fact, they all said that they want to see the movie again and I'll certainly be able to build upon what was in the movie in future Bible studies.

Sigh...

The movie is entitled "Do you believe?"

Some people would find trouble in paradise...

yes. faith is a gift, a wonderful gift from yahweh that they haven't received yet, and maybe never will --

yet they're still jealous and envious of those who have faith, envious and jealous of those who were willing to repent of their sin and of their selfish lives

and to start living the way yahweh planned instead of living for hasatan.

Thanks for the positive comment, now I will have to go see it! If this movie brings one person into the kingdom of God it will be worth it

Do you know what?

You're probably correct.

It's amazing how anything Biblical stirs people up so much. You'd think that God is Satan to observe the reactions of some (many) here.

I actually thought the Bible Mini series's betrayal, crucifixion, and resurrection scenes were good (While the scenes before it were not so good). However, this is not bad for me because I know I can just watch pre-crucifixion scenes in the "Gospel of John" movie instead (Which have some pretty amazing performances by the actor who starred on the TV series called: Lost). Prince of Egypt is probably my favorite Christian film. Documentary films titled: Exodus Revealed and Mountain of Fire are some good ones, too.

Anyways, I will probably wait for rental on this movie because so many Christian movies can indeed be a let down these days. But what has been described so far, it sounds like it will be a movie I will like.

Thank you for the positive comment as well.

I do think that the movie could be instrumental in leading people to Christ. In fact, I was just reading an interview with one of the main actors in the film, former NFL-er Brian Bosworth, and he testified that he became a born again Christian after acting in another Christian-themed filmed in 2013.

Anyhow, try to see it before any of the "Christians" on this forum burn down all of the theaters where it's playing because it's a movie about an active faith in Christ and we all know how totally reprehensible that concept is (in the eyes of those whose hearts are a gazillion miles from Christ's heart, that is).

Based on what I've read of your posting history, yes, I am confident that you will like it if you get the chance to see it. Believe me, I went to see it with reservations of my own in that many Christian films are a letdown, but this one really surprised me in a positive sense. Anyhow, the Hollywood reviewers are bashing it, so that's a good sign in that they mostly hate Christ.

Cute remark.
"Do you believe" means many things to many people.
"Faith without works is dead" true nuff, but also true is "works that are acceptable to God without faith is impossible."
You did not make it clear if they presented the other side of the same coin.

I can't imagine that HBO would carry it, but it will eventually appear on Netflix. Anyhow, I'm not here "trumpeting" a movie, per se, but I do believe that many here as well as elsewhere could benefit greatly from the reminder given within the film. What "reminder"? Well, the reminder that faith without works truly is dead. How dead? As dead as the body without the spirit and that's dead.

This is true. I have to admit that I often forget that I first became a Christian under the misassumption that I was required to do "works" in order to remain acceptable to God, and "Rapture Ready".

Yeah, dumb.... but I believe I was still saved... even in that thinking.
