Lets take a look in Genesis...

Genesis 17:9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
[10] This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
[11] And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
[12] And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
[13] He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
[14] And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

Ok, lets go back to verse 10 which says "...Every man child among you shall be circumcised." That is a command from God.

So, lets have a look at verse 14 "And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant."

God is saying, they were not part of the covenant if they are not circumcised. Remember, this is not "works" it is obedience to God. When we leave the Book and try to work our own way into heaven, that is then works.

They had to obey God or they were not part of the covenant.

Now, if God told us to be circumcised in the New Testament, would you do it? ...

Colossians 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
[12] Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

Do you see that? "...putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:"
What is that circumcision of Christ? Here it is, "Buried with him in baptism,"

Does water baptism put off the body of the sins of the flesh? Yes it does. Lets look at what Peter said in Acts...

Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
[38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

If we are to obey God, we would have to obey the Gospel. The Gospel is the Death, Burial, Resurrection. Jesus said we CANNOT enter heaven unless we are Born Again, born of "water" and of the "Spirit"...

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

In Acts 2:38 Peter said to obey the Death, Burial, Resurrection as the means to be SAVED.

Those that deny water baptism as an essential part of the salvation processes are denying the Gospel. And, they are in rebellion.

In the Old Testament, if they were not circumcised, they were not part of the covenant. Today, we are not saved if we have not obeyed the New Testament circumcision, which is water baptism.

Here is the sum of the Death, Burial, Resurrection...

Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
[4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
[5] For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

God bless!

In the beginning the Lord needs to step in and save us from our sins. However, as time goes by, he expects us to learn from or mistakes so that he doesn’t have to save us so often – well, hopefully, in time, not at all (he’s always there if we need his help).

[12] Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
[13] for God is at work in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Phil 2:12-13 RSV

Actually under the new covenant the circumcision still stands, the only difference is that it is not a fleshly circumcision.
We are now to be circumcised of the heart, meaning we have a new heart placed in us as the old sinful heart was cast away and buried with the Lord in baptism.

Romans 2:29
But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God.

I felt the circumcision in my heart as a very real thing before I was actually baptized. Baptism didn't change or add to what I already had.

It was something that I did because it is biblical, and symbolized outwardly what had already happened in my heart long before. It was also a public proclamation of my identity with the death and resurrection of Christ.

Hi endtimes, I am glad that I am not the oldest one in this forum. I am trailing you by 5 years. When the new birth takes place within a person, Ezekiel 11:19-20,God takes out the stony heart, which can not be pricked by God, and puts a new heart of flesh, which is soft and pliable, and can be pricked. Acts 2:37 - These men were already born again, and had the new heart that can be pricked. Baptism was their answer to a good conscience. Yes there is a salvation (deliverance, in their case from guilt). Most of the salvation scriptures are pertaining to a deliverance we receive here in this world, This timely salvation is dependent upon our good works, such as, repenting confessing and obeying God's commandments. These works are not the cause of our eternal salvation, but they are the evidence that we already have eternal salvation. When we sin, we separate ourselves from our fellowship with God, not from our eternal inheritance, and when God forgives of that repented sin, there is a deliverance (salvation). The men that stoned Stephen were not born again and had the old stony heart, which could not be pricked, instead they were "cut" to the heart. Paul, on the road to Damaskas , was ask by Jesus "why do you kick against the pricks", indicating that Paul was already born of the Spirit and had a heart that was being pricked.

If God is within us to both will and do his good pleasure, then we are already saved eternally, so the idea of "working out your own salvation, is not pertaining to an eternal deliverance, but a timely deliverance(salvation) that we receive here in this life by repenting, confessing and obeying God's commandments.

Baptism has nothing to do with being born again. The natural man would never consent to be baptized according to 1 Cor 2:14. Baptism is a work, or action, of man and eternal salvation is not dependent upon man's good works.

Well that is where you are not exactly correct, as the bible clearly says that baptism that we can do and was commanded to do in the bible is how one is by symbolism buried with Christ to sin. And the baptism of the Holy Spirit that the Lord places in us is being raised in His resurrection to a new Spiritual mind and heart.
Without the Holy Spirit in a person they are not born again with a new mind and heart, and are not headed to eternal life. Baptism has every bit to do with being born again, as the bible shows being born again of water and Spirit.

The water and the Spirit. The water is not baptism, but it is the water of regeneration, same as the water Jesus was talking about to the woman at the well.

Oh boy. Not again.

No water baptism does not wash the filth of the fesh.

It says who is the one doing the operation. It is God.

We must be baptised by God. no water of man is going to wash anything.

Yes,but not water baptism, spirit baptism.

God did not replace one physical act with another physical act, and make it a requirement to get saved.

King david was saved the same way I am, His circumcision did not save him then, it will not save us now. Unless he was washed by the blood of Christ (spiritually baptised) he will be in hell.

I am sure that you would agree that all scriptures must harmonize. How do you interpret 1 Cor 2:14, a man that con not discern spiritual things in consenting to baptism, to harmonize with your belief?

Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Jesus did not tell Nicodemus to be baptised, that is getting quite out of context there.

When nicodemus asked, he answered him,

"whoever believes in him has eternal life"

Jesus spoke of spiritual water there, not some physical river or bathrub where some person gets dunked.

In the case of Cornelius......what came first, the baptism of the Holy Spirit or water baptism?.......

Acts 10:44-48
44While Peter was still speaking, the Holy Spirit came to everyone who heard his message. 45All the believers who were circumcised and who had come with Peter were amazed that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured on people who were not Jewish. 46They heard these non-Jewish people speaking in other languages and praising God. Then Peter said, 47"No one can refuse to baptize these people with water. They have received the Holy Spirit in the same way that we did." 48So Peter ordered that they should be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked Peter to stay with them for several days.
