I posted this in Misc room, but then I thought it might be best to bring it to this one.

Do you think or believe that the enemy can read our mind and thoughts?

I have always been told that even though the enemy is very cunning he can't read minds. So when you rebuke the enemy it needs to be verbally instead of thinking it.

yup

demons cannot read your mind if they are not inside you.

the "enemy" is not another God with unforseen powers like that

I had been trying to reply to your post for ten mins but for some reason imcouldnt get through... I've been trying to chat with people about the bible all night but stuff has been going haywire. I think god watches over us as much as he possibly can. It's a great question though and I'd def. ditto what was said above. It kinda freaks me out though, expecially with all the tech difficulties I've had tonight trying to communicate about this stuff

No; but he is very observant. He will often recognize a pattern of thinking; and will set traps to confuse us.

We need to learn to depend on the Holy Spirit, instead of our own thoughts, when making decisions.

Why does the enemy have to be a man

in Hebrew הַשָׂטָ֖ן Satan is masculine, as is ὁ σατανᾶς , Satan, in the Greek. In both cases, without the definite article, the reference is to an unspecified adversary; and in English could be either gender.

Well, he is experienced in human behavior, and knows your personality. He can almost predict what you will do or say. And he can know the future, but some of that is kept from him. Look at the story of Job and remember that he can do nothing without God's permission. Even you know by someone's actions if they are scared or happy or whatever, and in such ways even you can know what they are thinking. But can satan or demons exactly know word for word what we are thinking, or see the picture we see in our mind? I don't think so, but I don't know for certain at this time. But I think I remember reading that satan cannot know our prayer to God, he cannot hear it unless we say it aloud.

But satan can introduce thoughts to our mind- this is how things are taught by demons. A demon does not stand in the pulpit and teach lies, he whispers them to the mind of the human who then goes into the pulpit and teaches those lies, if indeed he listens to evil thoughts instead of dismissing them. When demon possession took place, it is my personal belief that they could control only the physical, but not the thoughts of the person possessed. And what about the mentally handicapped? I still believe that everyone starts out with a conscience, has a sense of right and wrong, and that every creature knows the Creator.

...these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.

In agreement

Matthew 16:23 But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on God's interests, but man's."

Psalm 139:4
Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, You know it all.

Even when our thoughts/words are formulating because of foreknowledge, God being God, He knows. Jesus, being God incarnate, demonstrated that ability as well. Satan and demons have been tricking humanity for along time, so they are observant and know our weaknesses. Understatement, right? They can not read our minds, though.

Depends on if you are your own enemy, and what spirit you are of...whether of the world and of the Prince of this world, or of God's Spirit in Christ....having put to death the enemy of our minds.

Colossians 1:21
"And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled."

When a man is of the spirit of this world, he will do the lusts of his father the Devil. Satan's desire becomes mans own desires by that same spirit. When a man is tempted and drawn to evil thoughts and lusts, it is that mans own thoughts and lusts that draw him away. Self worship becomes the enemy. In this we see why we need to be born again of God's Spirit, and given a new Spirit, a new man and mind of Christ.

Foundational theology needs to go to scripture

You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
Psalm 139:2
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, “Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?"
Matt 9:4
For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.
1 cor 2:11
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
Eph 6:11

If your thoughts could be read then you would be a slave to Satan, for he could oppose you and suggest things that matched your way of thinking. You have one spirit within you, the Holy Spirit, who does not tolerate other spirits, as some people would suggest.

Paul talks about putting on the full armour of God, ie walking in faith, fighting with your whole being.
Psalms talks about only God knowing your thoughts, and Jesus likewise able to read peoples thoughts, an attribute of God himself.

So fear not, the Lord knows us and keeps us in his hands...
