And John said if a man claim to love God but not love his brother, he is a liar.

That mean love other is a manifestation of love God.

if you love your Father, you respect what belongs to Him - all those cattle, all those hills - His friends are your friends, and you honor His guests. whatever He asks or instructs you, you set yourself towards. His habits, you take on. you fear to shame Him; you are ashamed to sadden Him. you rejoice to make Him smile; you do for Him the things He loves without being commanded.
when He reprimands you, you are glad for His instruction. you humble yourself, so He does not have to stoop to humble you. whoever He shows kindness to, you do also. whoever does not know Him, you tell how great He is.

My little children, let us not love in word,
neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

And hereby we know that we are of the truth,
and shall assure
our hearts before him.

Manifestation verses lack of manifestation is shown here

But whoso hath this world's good,
and seeth his brother have need,
and shutteth up his bowels
of compassion
from him,
how dwelleth the love of God in him?

The children of God and the children of the devil are manifest

1 John 3:10
In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil:
whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,
neither he that loveth not his brother.

The greatest commandment started with the "how" concerning how we can approve, understand, and practice the second part of that greatest command...

Hear, O Israel.

Amen and the second is like unto it....Love your neighbor as yourself......Jesus said the law and prophets hinge on these two.....If you love God and your neighbor you will do right by both of them.....!

"for me to live, is Christ". That essentially is the only way to really love God with all our heart, soul and mind.

You are right...but a person must be willing to understand love continually...approve of love continually...and practice love continually by continually (as much as you want to everyday) hear The Word of God...which is also love.

If a person ignores a valuable treasure as the bible (a measure of The Word of God/Jesus/God)...then that is not loving God...unless that person can hear without the Bible..which some can.

Mark 12:29-30New King James Version (NKJV)

29*Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30*And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’[a] This is the first commandment.

Luke 10:42New King James Version (NKJV)

42*But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

I think much of the church misses the first part...

Hear, O Israel.

Interestingly the Ten commandments do not include the 2 Jesus pulled out. The ten commandments are more distant, about the place you put God in terms of religion. But Jesus emphasised "love".
Can you be commanded to love by itself, or is love a thing that must first exist in your heart then you can direct it?
It strikes me that this is the nature of our likeness to God, we love. We are therefore commanded to focus on God, to put his ways and being as the highest part of our lives. What for me is odd, that ofcourse I cannot love something from the heart unless I find something I like, but maybe this is a kind of promise. If you look you will find things you love, agree with and rejoice in. You will sing because your heart will fly.
So maybe it is more about looking, turning your face with the expectations of finding things you will love.
When you introduce a child to swimming, at first they are scared, but you say, give it a go.
There is possibly an element of do not hesitate or hold back, because the more you give the more you will get back, not in the prosperity gospel sense, but the total life sense...

Love God, Love others. Not be vain. Wish wonderful things for others, even if you have little. And never condemn, for anyone is allowed to come to God if they want to

Nobody can deny that the OP left out...Hear, O Israel.

Is that not the first part of that command? It is not good to leave it out...hence...the previous "but".

Deuteronomy 6:1-6New King James Version (NKJV)

The Greatest Commandment
6*“Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, 2*that you may fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. 3*Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the Lord God of your fathers has promised you—‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’[a]

4*“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! 5*You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

6*“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.

Very good. And ...

[39] And a second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
[40] On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets." Matt 22:39-40 RSV
