Do you mean physically or spiritually?

Physically....the wages of sin is death, and it is appointed to men to die once.
Spiritually...unbelief in Christ to save you will bring death.

Not being sarcastic but the term "leading" would indicate other causes for death.

Christ didn't sin and he died. I'm with Willie on this one. Being born is a death sentence. :)

SIN did cause Jesus' death: NOT His SIN; but OUR SIN!

Leading cause of death is disobedience caused by unbelief. (sin)

You are right Phil Christ did not sin, but God made him to be sin "for us"

2 Cr 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

So if Christ was purposed by God to die for our sins then for this very cause did he come to that hour to die being the Lamb of God which takes away the same (sin).

I believe Jesus Christ (who created all things) would be the exception of the rule in respects to the cause of his death (as if he sinned). Besides he really lives for ever (and before Abraham) so how on earth (or in heaven) can he count? lol

Jesus doesn't count simply for the fact that He was sinless from beginning to end even as our sins was placed upon Him, the spotless Lamb of God.

Leading cause of death is..... SIN

Luke 13:2-3 (ISV)
[SUP]2 [/SUP] He asked them, "Do you think that these Galileans were more sinful than all the other Galileans because they suffered like this?
[SUP]3 [/SUP] Absolutely not, I tell you! But if you don't repent, then you, too, will all die.

1 Corinthians 15:21-22 (HCSB)
[SUP]21 [/SUP] For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead also comes through a man.
[SUP]22 [/SUP] For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.

So what did we inherit from ADAM?

Romans 7:24-25 (NIV)
[SUP]24 [/SUP] What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?
[SUP]25 [/SUP] Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

Romans 8:3-4 (HCSB)
[SUP]3 [/SUP] What the law could not do since it was limited by the flesh, God did. He condemned sin in the flesh by sending His own Son in flesh like ours under sin’s domain, and as a sin offering,
[SUP]4 [/SUP] in order that the law’s requirement would be accomplished in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Romans 6:23 (HCSB)
[SUP]23 [/SUP] For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Wowzers. This one got chomped apart quicker than usual. The OP a simple statement... skewered... chewed up and regurgitated... and rendered futile by semantics. I'm amazed. In fact, so amazed that I hereby grant this thread:
"The Futility Award of the Week".

You are right that Christ didn't sin, but He willingly took on all of the worlds sins and paid the price for those of us who have sinned and He died of a broken heart at the thought of eternal separation from God the Father. Sin most certainly killed Jesus. I killed Jesus with the sin I committed and I am ashamed for my part in His death. Surely the wages of sin is death and if no one had ever sinned then there would be no death as sin is separation from God ie death.

The serpent said to the woman, "You surely will not die!"

I always think about Satan and him lying about the consequences of sin from the very beginning.

The leading cause of death is physical illness.

I read an article which said at no other point in human history has the chances of dying of desease out stripped the causes of a violent end. For all those who think things have never been so bad, need to realise in pure physical life terms things have never been so good.

Our dilemma as christians is to begin to tackle the insanity of dignitas, or the choice of suicide for disappointment.
I had a suicidal relative, who my biggest argument was our bodies and our existance fight against everything, every day to stay alive. To take away this fight, is to admit defeat, to defeat the very life force within.

The problem now with dementia, is how far do we measure the quality of life, and its end. The hospice movement have done wonders to respect the end as much as the beginning, and I likewise which to rejoice each day the gift of a new day the Lord has given me.

It is said the fear of death is the thing that drives people. Do you in your hearts still fear death, or see it as a final celebration of the gift of life and love and entering into the eternal Kingdom?

Death is very sad, because you loose contact with someone you love and need support from and to whom you give support, but likewise it is also a final resolution and for some the end of suffering.

Spiritual darkness leads to sinful acts which lead to our death, but in one degree, if you are walking in spiritual darkness are you ever truly alive?
