I have been dealing with this for a while now and decided to post this here to get some advice. I know that we are supposed to lay every burden at the cross and give it all to God. Now, doing this is easier said than done in many cases. How do you do place every pain at the cross and put all your trust in him? I want to let this go, but every day there is a constant reminder that it is still there. I have been pressing into the word more and praying like crazy, but my question is how else can I go about it?

The best way is to spend as much time with the Lord as possible, I would also recommend listening to Christian music a lot too. God soothes our pain usually slowly, all he need from us is to come to him as a small child and he will gladly wrap his arms around us and bandage our wounds

I have been doing this on my way to school every morning and it has helped. Right now God has been working with me on putting all my faith in him. I want to give everything I have to God even this situation, but it has been really hard and I feel guilty for even saying that.

I'm sorry you are struggling, will pray for you. When I have burdens, I am not always successful at letting them go - *I* try to fix them.

Since you have been praying and seeking Him, I believe He will show you if there is something else specifically for you, that you can say or do that will roll this burden away.

However, something I have done is to say outloud ''Dear Lord Jesus, I am giving this burden to you. This person, or situation or circumstance is in your hands. I am doing what it says in your Word ''casting my cares on You, cos You care for me''.

I say that as much as I need to when the worry, fear and anxiety tries to return.

Plus when I find my thoughts drifting back to the problem, in my mind or outloud I push them back and refuse them. I say to myself - " NO, I REFUSE to worry on that. I gave that matter to the Lord. It is His to deal with now''.

But I might have to say it ten times a day! :D

I've also asked for His peace in times when I have been fearful and He has calmed me down and helped me focus.

When the Lord allows a difficulty to remain in tour life after you have surrendered it to Him:

one of two things might be true.

1) The Lord may be using this to teach you something you need to understand.

You should ask the Lord if there is a lesson in this difficulty. If He shows you that there is; ask Him to help you learn it.

2) The Lord may want to use the way you handle this to bring someone who is watching to Himself.

If you are willing to be used in this way; ask the Lord to show you your role in His plan.

If the Lord does not show you that one of these is true; then you must offer it to the Lord again and refuse to pick it up any more. If it starts to bother you, remind yourself that it is not your problem any more.

I do not know the burden before you, so if this does not apply thats ok. :)
Yes, as another said, we are to lay our burdens at Jesus's feet.
Sometimes though Jesus shows us how to do so.
Jesus showed me that I needed to ask why is this a burden?

If the answer falls under pride, reputation, wanting justice, maby it is simply another who enjoys tormenting you, well the list can be long indeed.
What Jesus asked me to look to, is this simple question, is this burden born of flesh, the world?
For such things we need to, in Jesus, give to God, trusting in Him for what is His will, what ever the outcome.
Sometimes the outcome, the answer, is simple, my grace is sufficient for you.
Sometimes, we are called to let go of the flesh that holds us, so that the burden, torment, will no longer have any hold on us.
It means letting go of flesh, for this is what we are called to do in Jesus, simply because as He said,"in the world you have tribulation, but take courage, I have overcome the world!"
It is in going to Jesus, that we recieive and know this victory, and what was a burden, no longer has any hold on us.
It was Jesus speaking to becoming least, that helped me to understand and know this freedom.
But look to Jesus, as He is your true teacher, and knows best what you need. :)
Jesus will teach you, and the freedom and streangth of His loving sacrifice and victory over the world, will trully free you!

God bless

Its as simple as not letting other people define who you are. God is within all of us. Jesus teaches us how to draw Him to the surface. It starts with complete truth. Without that. You have not known Christ and he will not hear you.

Being alone in reflection is a cornerstone to finding the truth. If you are infants in the faith, forgive first, only then are you able to admit the sins you committ because of others. That is a huge leap.

I don't know where you got where I am blaming others. In fact I think that this is not a kind thing to say when someone is asking for advice on how to lay something at the cross. When you post something make sure it is nice and not rude because that is the way you came off.

It is really awesome to be homeless on this earth like Jesus was (heaven is His and my home). I believ many are sooo addicted to food, a pattern of living, false security...and some have problems with what we call "drugs". The truth is that most groups of believers are actually in bondage. They fear trusting in God to the point of giving Him complete control. This is easily discerned by listening...cause out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. I think most "believers" are unwilling to count the full cost...or see it/hide their face and understanding from it.

For instance...
Many people including "christians" support community living through well operated homeless shelters...like the union gospel mission. Sure...it has its unbiblical practices, but its much closer to the example of a real church community than most I have experienced.
It is a proven fact that drug addicts and disfunctional people can live together in a form of all things common.

Sad is the fact that most who support such living for the homeless are unwilling to become "homeless" as well and live by equality...which would free up more resources for things like clean water for children...and so on.

Hypocrisy is what I call it. So if you want to give all your time and resources and everything to God...
One way to experience true freedom is to wilfully be a career volunteer...and then you also can spend time in solitude in the woods with God very easily whenever you want. Also it frees up more time to read the bible, pray, and sing with thanksgiving and praise to God.

I mean really...ask yourself...do you really want to spend all eternity hearing the word of God, serving Him, singing to Him, and doing whatever He tells you?

I am more free living in shelters (which most are unwilling to do freely even though we have proven that all things common is possible) and in the woods at times than those with "obligations" of "their own", and "their own" bills and "their own" families.

If you find yourself speaking words according to the flesh more than the spirit...you are most likely living according to the flesh. If you do not want to live according to the flesh...then its not you who does it, but the sin in the flesh...which is a burden not needed.

I can only give general advice based on what you have written. When we have problems in life, we deal with them the best we can. Sometimes there is nothing we can do and must trust the Lord to solve the problem for us.

From what you said, I wondered if someone hasn't gotten you thinking that you can't try to solve a problem yourself, but that would be wrong. There's nothing wrong with doing everything you can to solve a problem. But if the problem is unsolvable, trust the Lord to solve it for you.

Dear NewEagle, I just found your letter. Still have difficulties to find my way around CC, Often I don't understand the English. That's ok, I have to take time. Thanks for your advice. I had a wonderful life, until that day when my husband told me he wanted a devource, after we had been married 42 years. He had found another wife. Since that time, now 3 years ago, lefe has been realy difficult. I lost everything, but I also know that the Lord sustains me. I changed much, but still feel that great loss.. I think it will be much better moving to Papua to my daughter. I know God allows (?) it and He knows what he is doing.
Thank you that you care enough to write me. The Lords blessing about you. Dhani-bat

Do you remember the story in the bible about Jacob wrestling with the Angel and he wouldn't quit until the Angel had blessed him? (Genesis 32:24-30)

This is what you are doing when you pray, read the bible and think about the scriptures you have read. You are doing it with all of your heart and all of your mind and all of your strength. You know, that if you don't give up, the Lord will take all these burdens from you, in one way or the other, by Faith.

And when your burden is finally lifted it will be in a way that no one could have described or taught... In other words, its not by a formula or by our understanding.

Yep, correct, when all those burdens are too much for you. you 'cast' them Upon Him, for He careth for you.. the world and all others, even those who claim to 'know' Him, will accuse you, say your 'weak' in the LORD, or shake their head and just walk away, calling you a 'fool'.. but remember what Paul taught, His GRACE WAS SUFFICIENT to Keep you Standing, and In your Weakness, He is made strong, He does this so that He Gets the Praise and its done thru the Power of the Spirit, as Grandpa described, done not by formula or human understanding but by the Power of the Spirit, I've had this happen so many times in my life, He AWAYS carries you thru, many are the afflictions of the Righteous, but out of them ALL , NOT JUST SOME BUT All God will deliver you.. indeed.. PLUS the Deeper the burden, the affliction, persecution etc, the GREATER THE CONSOLATION, He will carry you thru, Reward you, plus He will allow you to see How He takes care of your enemies also, and He does all three, Thru the power of the Spirit, He asks you to STAND AND WATCH HIS HAND as He helps and delivers you.. look to the Israelites and the Red Sea.. PERFECT example of the Sovereign Hand of God in deliverance, nothing the Israelites had done to put them in that place they had no escape from.. but God sent them there.. so that they could See His Sovereign Hand in Salvation and in Judgment as they saw the bodies of the Egyptians floating to shore , as these were purposed to destroy and eliminate all of Israel and take their possessions.. In Israel's weakness, God was made Strong and In His Judgment He was Glorified! indeed!

Engaging the constant reminder, even if you can't escape it, is like picking a scab. As long as you do, the wound will never be healed.

There is no magic formula, rote prayer, or ceremony one can perform to put aside pain. It is simply becoming fully willing to stop letting the past incident or emotion put you in a frame of mind whereby you "pick your scab." Every time you encounter the reminder and feel your mind going into the past and reliving that moment, instead distract yourself with a prayer, saying something along the lines of ...

"God, I know I've said I've forgiven this, but I keep going back to it. Help me remember, through Your Holy Spirit, that I don't have to live there anymore. I want to live here and now, loving as You love. Amen."

It sounds trite, but I assure you, it works.
